All roses are leafing out just great... very happy with my order!!! | | Positive | DriftingDude (6 reviews) | On April 20, 2008, DriftingDude Charleston, SC wrote: I recently received my first order from this company and all the bare root roses arrived very healthy. The root system was huge with strong canes. Also, the customer service was excellent. A big thumbs up! | | Positive | shihtzumom (7 reviews) | On April 6, 2008, shihtzumom Pearisburg, VA (Zone 6a) wrote:My first order from Palatine's came last week. They were the largest bare root roses I've ever purchased. Healthy, fast shipping, friendly service and I changed my order a couple of times but they were very friendly each time.
I will be ordering from this company again SOON.

The root systems are huge and uncut. There are alot of little hairy feeler roots still attached which is excellent because they start soaking up the water first thing when the rose is planted. The stems are plump, thick, and dark green and well hydrated showing no signs of wrinkling or disease. The price is very fair for the quality of the rose I receive from them. They seem to specialize in Kordes roses but do have many other breeders roses as well. I hope that they continue to add to their catalog with more exhibition type hybrid teas, grandiflora's, floribunda's, and mini's.
All of their roses are budded onto R.Multiflora rootstock including the mini's. I think they are the only mail order vendor currenly budding mini and mini-flora's to R.Multiflora rootstock. Many folks have started budding their little roses onto Fortuniana but I think Palatine is the only one using multiflora. This is a boon since a large portion of the continent cannot grow fortuniana because of the cold winters that would kill them.
Lastly, their customer service is second to none anywhere. Rahel Berardocco is the customer service agent for mail order and internet sales. She is a gem to work with and is super friendly and knowledgeable as well.
I will continue to order from Palatine every time I possibly can when buying new roses. I hope they continue to add and update their rose offerings. I think if I were a serious breeder, I would work a deal with Palatine to introduce my new rose offerings to the general public for commercial sale.
If you haven't ordered from Palatine yet you are definitely missing out on a good deal. Give them a try and I am sure you will be as pleased as I am with their roses.

(Canada) wrote:This is an organic rose nursery which is specializing in the Kordes ADR roses. These are roses that have high disease resistance and many blooms. Most are floribundas but many are also hybrid teas. They are excellent for organic growers and have been bred as Germany has now not allowed any cosmetic chemicals to be used in gardening. I have many of them and can tell you that in my garden they are disease free and very vigorous. | | Positive | Calif_Sue (5 reviews) | On November 19, 2007, Calif_Sue San Jose, CA (Zone 9b) wrote:I ordered three roses and selected ground transportation, from Canada to Calif. I was a bit worried but figured with the cooler weather, they would be fine. Upon arrival, despite having been in transit for a week, the roses were packaged so nicely that the roots were still moist and look fresh and healthy. The plants themselves were amazingly large, certainly compared to what one finds in the box stores.
A definite high recommendation for this mail order company!

I anxiously awaited my roses and was EXTREMELY impressed by their bareroot roses they sent. These are absolutely the BEST I have ever received. Now several months later some of them are in full bloom, others right behind and I am so pleased that I went with them. Will order from them again and again !
My only regret is that I ordered 22 from Pickering and 11 from Palatine and I wish it would have been the other way around.

They were wonderful, huge bareroots. The third rose was too small to ship, but will be shipped next year. The two roses sent are doing very well and one is on its fifth bloom already. I am very happy with the quality of their roses and am already planning a list for next year. | | Positive | deklee (1 review) | On April 5, 2007, deklee Philadelphia, PA wrote: These are the best bareroots I have ever seen and it's not even close! I just recd 7 bareroot roses with the biggest roots I have ever seen. I do not think they will fit in the pots I had planned for them! Nice healthy canes too! They even sent me an e-mail to tell me the shipping was delayed by one day. Wow..some vendors you dont even know when they will ship! Looking forward to watching these babies grow! | | Positive | The_Morden_Man (1 review) | On March 18, 2007, The_Morden_Man Ontario
(Canada) wrote:I will second the acknowledgement here on the fantastic quality of Palatine's bareroot roses. I will further add that this family owned and operated business is a true pleasure to conduct business with. They are immensely accomodating, friendly and knowledgeable about the roses they grow.
The size of the Palatine bare-roots, the quality of the canes and the general garden performance once they are planted, has truly exceeded any other rose vendor I have dealt with to date and I have been purchasing and planting roses for well over 15 years now.
Although their selection is still somewhat limited and has a predominance towards Kordes bred varieties, they now ship to the U.S. and I believe them to be the best source of grafted roses on multi-flora that you will find in Canada and likely North America.
To place these remarks into context, my friends, family and I have been long-time customers of Pickering nurseries and still believe they have excellent bare-root roses and a fanastic selection, but that their customer service has deteriorated in recent years. Although I have not experienced it directly, many people have complained about inferior quality plants since they moved from their old Pickering, Ontario site to a new location in Port Hope, Ontario. While I still fully believe they deserve the excellent international reputation they carry in the industry, here is to hoping they correct some of their recent deficencies in customer service and plant quality.
In either case, Palatine roses is a source that should be tried and will provide you with a more than viable alternative for excellent roses grafted on multiflora and with exceptional customer service. You will be hard pressed to find better!

(United States) wrote:I have been growing roses in this location for more than ten years. I have about 250+ roses (who is counting? :-)
Palatine roses sent me the best bare roots I have ever received from any vendor and I ordered from most.
Palatine has also proved false the myth that roses grafted on multiflora or grown in Canada's short growing season are necessarily smaller when we receive them and they should not be compared to roses grafted on dr. Huey because Dr. Hueys are bigger by definition. My soil likes multiflora grafted roses and I had no problem with smaller plants coming from Canada if they were healthy.
Nonetheless the roses sent by Palatine were much much bigger than any Dr. Huey grafted rose I have ever received.
In the future they will be my number one vendors except if I am dying to get a rose and they do not carry it.
Let me add that Palatine roses offer some new roses that nobody else has in North America. It is a great pleasure to deal with this company. They are not only friendly but they are extremely knowledgeable and dependable. | | Positive | Zuzu (33 reviews) | On February 19, 2007, Zuzu Sebastopol, CA (Zone 9a) wrote:I've been buying bare-root roses for decades, and these are the very best I've ever bought. They're even better than anything I've ever chosen for myself at local nurseries after picking through all of the plants available.
They have huge thick canes, and lots of them, and long thick roots. The nursery has competitive prices and shipping rates, a great selection of roses, and extra-friendly owners. This nursery gets my highest recommendation ever. | | Positive | steph_gem (2 reviews) | On February 19, 2007, steph_gem San Diego, CA (Zone 10b) wrote:First of all the people were so friendly which always a big plus.
I placed an order for 6 roses they arrived beautifully packaged. The roots were huge and they had many canes.
They are now leafing out and look beautiful. This is the first time I have had no die back from a mail order order comany, sometimes you get a brown stem here or there, but everything is perfectly healthy.
I look forward to future business them.
