I ordered a pair of Sebastopol goslings, my card was "hit" 17 March, I received an email that they would be shipping 20 March, with an additional email to come FROM THEM 21 March, to provide shipping info. Crickets. I emailed them 22 March, was sent response of "looking into it" - it's now after 5:00 pm CT, 28 March, STILL NOTHING!!
They're VERY good at responding, BEFORE one pays - once they have money in hand, however, it seems to be a matter of 'see ya later, SUCKA!!'
Angry? H#ll yes!! I have visions of those poor babies, battered hither & yon, cold, scared, hungry. After paying almost $212.00, (** I ** was NEVER offered free shipping), to deal with apparent "back yard breeders" (& I mean that in the fullest pejorative interpretation), and imagining WHAT those poor goslings have gone through, unless I see a VAST improvement in their "customer service", I WON'T buy from them, nor will I *E*V*E*R* 'recommend ' them.

Ordering from here is a crapshoot because they do not hatch/ship their own poultry.
First part of my order - 10 cornish x - were shipped when it was below freezing temps with no supplemental heat, in a drafty box. Needless to say, they arrived mostly dead. Only 4 made it, and only after some intensive care the first three days. Too much work for meat birds!
Second part of my order were 6 call ducks, arrived today. Packaged with supplemental heat and box taped against drafts (and it's 70 outside) All look healthy so far!
The positive -- shipping was free, and they refunded my loss of 6 cornish x. (though no refund for all the time I spent nursing the poor things! Luckily I was off work for two days after they arrived, otherwise none of them would have made it) I would have been super mad if I had paid for shipping. I would NEVER chance a purchase from here unless I got a free shipping offer.
Also, I was able to get 6 call ducks through the mail - almost unheard of! I was very pleased with this!
The negative - I suspect each hatchery they buy from is responsible for their own packaging. So every order will probably be a different scenerio.
So, If you can find a free shipping offer, and you don't mind potentially receiving dead/dying chicks, or if you can be sure the weather will be perfect shipping conditions, I can recommend them.
I recently ordered 25 Easter Egger chicks from Purely Poultry, and it was the BEST experience I have ever had when having chicks shipped to me. They arrived in 1 week, and they even included 2 extra chicks! I must have called 4-5 times in the first week of my chicks arriving, and the girls answered every single question I had, and never made me feel stupid.
I will DEFINITELY be ordering from Purely Poultry again in the future. They will get all of my bird business from here on out!
Ordered ten chicks (we were going to keep five, give away five to neighbors). When the order fell behind schedule, we called and were advised they were overbooked and that if we needed something immediately, we may want to look around locally. Upon doing so, we found some chicks locally and proceeded to cancel our order.
The next day, we were told the order could no longer be cancelled despite what we were originally told. We were told the "items" were packed up and on their dock ready for shipment. I was told once a printing label is printed, it can't be cancelled. What a lie! I ship all the time! You can cancel a label and get your money back. I argued with the customer service person and even went as far as calling the owner directly, who told me to "F*** off." That being said, the chicks didn't even ship that day. They shipped 2 or 3 days AFTER our argument.
The day after they shipped, my post office called me to say they were ready for pick up. The box must have been 10x10--and there were 25 - yes, TWENTY FIVE - chicks in it. They didn't even ship from Purely Poultry. They came from a farm in Iowa.
They were not the breed I ordered--these were mutts. Some male, some female ( i only ordered female ).
How cruel is that to the animals? To shove 25 in a box?Luckily, I had a farm nearby who took all 25 and has re-homed them.
Needless to say the company won't work with me on a refund.
STAY AWAY FROM PURELY POULTRY! The owner, Tyler, and his employees, are scammers and obviously don't care about the animals or their customer service.
Based on what I've read on this site, obviously this company does not breed any chickens - they just drop ship from other people.
How deceptive. I would recommend avoiding at all costs.

I have placed two orders with Purely Poultry and have a had a great experience with this company! Their staff is so friendly and knowledgeable (you can't find that everywhere these days!) I first ordered calls ducks in April--the order came to me packaged very well and I had happy and healthy ducklings! I have had them for several months and they are great quality. A few weeks ago I ordered 60 Cornish Cross--no loss and I received two extra. I have ordered meat birds from other locations and have always had some loss in the first few weeks. The chicks are 3 weeks old today and I haven't had a single loss! First time ordering chicks through the mail...Not a good experience at all, initially made order for 15 chicks multiple types. This was changed multiple times which I get its hard to have an assortment hatch at same time. Then when my order of (15 chicks) arrived all it had in box was quantity of 12 chicks and one of the 12 was already dead and another appeared to be on its last leg and died the next day now leaving my total order at 10 chicks of primarily a chicken I wasn't too excited to get in the first place and have now had another chick die today tuesday now leaving me with 9 chicks...The label inside the box was labeled for 16 chicks and marked by hand but only received 12 one dead on arrival and lost 2 since then...Was only rebated for what I didn't receive and the dead chick....How can you change multiple times and then ship an order short, no regards to customers plans..what a disaster! They seem nice enough. However, they are not a hatchery, breeding farm, nor do they as a business have chickens at all. When i asked about this on Facebook my post was deleted. When I called i could not get a straight answer. I am very disappointed that people would flip animals/livestock for a quick buck. I was a little worried about ordering from this hatchery, just because of the lack of information about them, I came upon them by chance when looking for a company that sold Sebastapol geese in pairs. Decided to give them a shot and I'm glad to say that they pulled through! I recieved my two little babies yesteray morning as notified.

I really like this hatchery alot. I made a oreder for 5 chicks last year (they gave me 2 extra), and I had not deaths they were all healthy even at 1 year old. So while our availabilities may be sparse in October, November, and the beginning of December, we start pre ordering for spring chicks in December and January. Keep checking back! I ordered my first batch of chicks from Purely Poultry and received them back in March of this year. Although the process didn't go as smoothly as I would have liked, the customer service cannot be topped. My original order was for several quite rare and hard to get breeds, and the company could not fulfill the order. They notified me right away that they were having egg production problems, and offered me my money back, no problem. I decided to keep my order and went with several other breeds instead. I spoke directly with the company owner, who listened to what my goals were and recommended several breeds. Now, months later, I am happy with his suggestions, and the young chickens are doing well.
I did have one entire selection die within days of receiving them, and got my money back for them without question. I have to put some of the blame on the time of year - it was very cold (March) for shipping chicks, and I think the one breed was too delicate for their trip. One nice touch - each group of chicks had nutritional gel provided by the hatchery to help them during the shipping. This seems to be standard practice for this company, and it is a boon for the tiny chicks during a very stressful time.
