Rivergate Gardens was founded in 1973 as a sustainable organic farm working with nature as its cornerstone. We are Certified Organic through M.O.S.A., the Midwest Organic Services Association.
We specialize in hybrid Water Iris, Siberian & Japanese Iris along with a beautiful selection of Daylilies. Our Orchid selection is varied and colorful, offering easy to grow varieties that come with complete growing instructions and our toll free phone number for your questions. Our orchids are being transitioned to organic production now.
We also offer Certified Organic garlic with two varieties; German White that has a robust strength to its flavor and large easy peel cloves, and Bohemian Red that a local farmer brought over from Bohemia when his family emigrated to our valley over 50 years ago. It has medium sized cloves and a delicious more mild garlic flavor that many folks prefer as it imparts a garlic flavor in your cooking without over powering other subtle flavors.
We also offer nature themed gifts, including our Dragonfly, Frog, Butterfly, Hummingbird, Birding and Turtle collections. We have handmade Wood Birdhouses and beautiful recycled glass Hummingbird Feeders. Whenever possible we try to support local artists who make our Orchid Pots, Birdhouses, and other works of art for us.
Live in Los Angeles and your dragonfly loving sister in Boston is having a birthday soon? We offer free gift wrapping including a card with your message shipped directly to the gift recipient!

I see that there are no other postings for "Rivergate Gardens," so, I feel honored to be the first to share with others at Dave's the wonderful experience I have had with my recent purchase there. First, the website is very user friendly and informative, in addition to having excellent descriptions of the individual plants (Irises of many different types). Cultural information is in depth enough to allow a shopper to make an intelligent decision on whether one iris is better for one's own garden than another. The photos posted are beautiful and as I looked through the online catalogue, I found myself wanting more and more.
My order arrived in the mail yesterday via USPS. Packing was excellent. Most of what I ordered were "water irises," and I received two very large plastic bags stuffed full of plants with wonderfully developed root systems. There is no doubt in my mind that these plants will thrive (barring my own incompetence/stupidity which has been known to come to the fore in the past). I cannot wait until I have a chance to see these plants in bloom.
Communication and service were excellent!
I will add that plants are only shipped at certain times and I noticed that several varieties sold out quickly. What that means, simply put, if you see a "must have," order it then and be prepared to wait for the shipping season to arrive. If you think you will be able to order and receive that special iris at the last minute, you might be disappointed.
Lastly, though I did not order any non plant items, I noticed many things for the garden and water garden that appear to be very nice. I am tempted to order a small bronze faerie that seemed to call my name......LOL
I will definitely be a future customer at "Rivergate Garden."
