Ordered some seeds and equipment on their Web site, and received all items promptly and in good condition. I was kept informed of my order's progress through order confirmation and tracking emails, T&M's Web site, and Canada Post.
However, the status of my order after submitting it on the Web site was unclear and my order confirmation email could have arrived more promptly (it arrived 3 or 4 days after I placed my order). What this meant was that I didn't know for sure if my order made it through until several days after I submitted it.
Package arrived protected by air bags rather than foam peanuts, a big plus.
Seeds were packed in foil packets with clear germination and culture instructions, origin, and lot number. What would've been awesome is an expiration date, but I find that this is rarely provided by anyone. Haven't yet opened the packets and inspected their contents.
Equipment was as described and in good condition.
The only thing keeping this from being a positive review was the large time gap between submitting the order and receiving confirmation of the order, which really is inexcusable with a computerized system. On March 28th, 2011, DirtGently changed the rating from neutral to negative and added the following:
I've sown most of my order, and I'm not pleased.
Giant one-size fits all foil packaging combined with the miserly amount of seeds per packet made it extremely hard to handle the tiniest seeds that I had ordered (the kind that are smaller than a dot). I literally had to tear the packets apart to get at the seeds that were stuck in the inside edges.
Pelleted seeds arrived with most of the pellets smashed. Not sure how this is possible considering that this packet of seeds was shipped inside a large box containing the rest of my order. Emailed T&M, who promptly promised to send a replacement packet. Replacement packet arrived 2 or 3 weeks later inside an unpadded envelope. All the pellets in this packet were completely smashed to dust.
Not worth the expense nor the hassle. |

I ordered seeds and the order confirmation did not come as quickly as expected or as I would have liked, however I ordered on a Friday and received confirmation on the following Monday--not terrible I guess. I'm just used to these things being automated and popping up in my inbox immediately or at least within 24 hours at most. When I received the confirmation email, I was disappointed that it didn't list the items I had ordered.
Four days later, I received a shipping confirmation email with a listing of what was shipped that day, however it listed only 16/18 of the items I had ordered and didn't mention the missing two items. This would have been okay except that the descriptions in the list were inaccurate, so then I wasn't sure if something was wrong with my order or not. On their list, some items were listed twice--on different lines with different item numbers, one item number lacked any description, some item numbers had two plants listed in the description. I had to copy and paste each item number from the confirmation email into their site to search for it and make the list myself so I knew what was and wasn't shipped.
I received my order this week, but it apparently came from Jamaica, NY. I thought it was going to come from Oakville, ON, but it looks like that's just where their customer service is located. The packing slip within contained a complete listing of my order and the status of items. Two items were noted as being on backorder and I received the other 16 items, so it seems all is well. On February 2nd, 2011, AnneCS added the following:
Just wanted to add that by the end of January, the two backordered items arrived as well, so I received everything that I ordered within a reasonable time frame. |
