| Positive | deborbob Cape Coral, FL (1 review) April 20, 2013 | Greetings! This is my second year purchasing seeds from Pepper Joe's. I love this company. NO GMO's, easy to place order and I didn't have to wait long to receive. Germination rate 99% for me! Healthy, strong plants. All of last years plants I grew in pots and this year we put them in the ground, they are doing great. The number of peppers these plants produce is unbelievale. I have a list of about 16 people I give my peppers to. I like the fact that besides producing such a great product, Joe communicates with all his customers when they have questions or tips. The icing on the cake is the free seeds. Keep up the good work Mr Joe.

| Positive | cobra01 Chalmette, LA (1 review) April 19, 2013 | I have been ordering super hots from Pepper Joe's for years. I have never had a problem. I have seeds from them for almost 5 years I have had in the refrigerator. Just planted a few and all germinated. I Like the 100% guarantee. Gladly never had to use it. I have sent emails constantly asking his advise and very seldom took over 12 hrs to respond. Except if he was on the road then it took 24hrs. Alway's had the solution to my problem. GREAT SERVICE.

| Positive | Gh0stChili Dalzell, SC (1 review) April 19, 2013 | Ladies and Gentlemen, it really is an honor to be given this opportunity to leave a review.
‘So, first things first: I have researched and participated in a lot of companies and forums in the discussion of hot peppers. There are thousands of sites with hot pepper information and references as to seed purchases. Pepper Joe's is by far the best site I have found to date. Their site provides specific information that never leaves topic, while maintaining simplicity and concise information that allows anyone interested in growing peppers the means to do just that.
‘Next we move onto the purchasing and contents of the order I have placed.
Received order 3 business days from purchase date: check
Contents: Exactly what I ordered: check
Bonus: As they advertise, you receive free seeds of various varieties: feeling giddy: check
‘Now what about the companies performance:
I received an email 4 minutes after purchase.
The email was customer focused and it was actually sent by a living breathing person. That wasn't what I expected. They answered all my questions and concerns.
I received my Carolina Reaper (BIG GRIN) and the free seeds as fore mentioned. The two packets sent to me free contained peppers originating from Korea and Japan.
That was something that really impressed me.
In conclusion,
I got what I paid for and received the attention and respect from the company.*to pepperjoe* Thanks for emailing me personally conveying your appreciation of my business.
I will continue to shop with you from here on and will advertise your site on my Facebook, Blog ..etc. Thank you for actually owning up to what you offer and showing me that you are 100% dedicated to customer satisfaction. |

Easy ordering, prompt service, well-packed seeds, directions for sowing seed, bonus packs of seed, and the hottest pepper in the world. Pepper Joe gets an A+ from me. On April 13th, 2013, WillysWoodPile added the following:

| Positive | GlenLetendre Springfield, MA (1 review) April 12, 2013 | I ordered all their Super Hots, Carolina Reaper,Naga Viper, Ghost Chilli,Taksunatme,Butch T, etc. I had a 98% germ rate this year.....It quite well for an all organic company...... Company representative comment on April 13, 2013: On Apr 13, 2013 9:21 AM, Pepper Joe's Inc. responded with:Thanks Glen.
Also thanks to Sconnie, Rocky, Lieber and Julian. Sorry I haven't answered every one of these great ratings quicker...this has been a slamming busy seed season. And with the addition of the Carolina Reaper to our Seed line up, it's been a real hustle to keep up with it all. But I'm thrilled that my team is continuing to get orders shipped out in 3 to 4 business days. Also, the germination reports flowing in are the best we've ever had.
A big part of the fun with running a seed business is gardeners like you all. So supportive... and we've formed such a strong bond with so many customers through email, our Newsletters and at the top of the list is our Facebook page. Our intention is not to take your money and run...but rather to try to stay with you every step of the growing process. THANKS a million to all of you.

| Positive | Sconnie_Planter Kenosha, WI (2 reviews) April 3, 2013 | Pepper Joe's is THE only pepper website you need to order from.... REALLY! I have been so disappointed by other seed sources such as Burpee and Park. Pepper Joe's (and Penny's Tomatoes) have always shipped quickly, given free seeds with every order and offered great advice and information.
They offer seeds that you won't readily find with other sources. And, every year, the seeds have almost 100% germination. That is great considering some pepper varieties are picky and "high maintenance". Yet the seeds from Pepper Joe's do so much better than any others that I have purchased. I have gotten tons of compliments from friends and coworkers about my plants (always have too many and gift them to others) and the fruit produced (which I also have too much of each year.... more gifting).
Check out the Pepper Joe's website (and Penny's Tomatoes too). They back up their product and offer great follow-up advice. Sign up for their emails and get cool deals year round. |
| Positive | Rocky1115 Royal Oak, MI (1 review) March 31, 2013 | I ordered their signature collection of pepper seeds, "Volcano-in-a-box". It contains over 100 seeds of the hottest peppers on the planet. My order was processed, shipped, and delivered within 3 business days! Very easy ordering process and super-speedy delivery...
Also, I ordered a week before an Easter special where they were offering 4 free packs of seeds. My order only included 2 free packs of seeds. I emailed Pepper Joe's letting them know that if I had known about the special coming up, I would have waited a week. I received a response later that day that they would be happy to mail out two additional packs of seeds for me.
How's that for awesome customer service? They've earned a customer for life, that's for sure. I'm telling all my friends and family about Pepper Joe's and I cannot wait to get my hands on some of the tasty, fiery peppers!
THANKS PEPPER JOE'S!!!! |

| Positive | WillMx Lebanon, IN (1 review) March 18, 2013 | I ordered four different varieties of hot peppers. Order shipped fast and they gave me some great free seeds. I followed their suggestions in the FAQ, used a Burpee self watering seed starting system, and a heat mat. ALL of my pepper seeds ended up germinating within 7 to 14 days. Now they are happily growing under their lights. Great company. Great people. Great product. Happy growing! | Positive | Case_Man Reisterstown, MD (1 review) March 14, 2013 | Pepper Joe's is the ONLY place I purchase my pepper seeds from. This season will make it 3 season's in a row that my seeds from Pepper Joe's have had a 100% Germination Rate!
I first started buying seeds from Pepper Joe back in 2006 and have been hooked ever since! I also LOVE how easy it is to order from them online completely safe and secure!
I started all of my pepper seeds early and inside this year. Very excited to be growing Carolina Reaper, Ghost Pepper, Moruga Scorpion, and Pasilla Bajio Pepper's!
They also have some solid advice for starting and planting pepper seeds included with every order. Oh and the best part?!?! They included FREE seeds with every order!!! That just rocks my socks! If you are not buying from Pepper Joe's then you are not buying from the BEST! Period.
Not only do I love peppers, but I am a Pepper Joe's customer for LIFE! These guy's ROCK! |
| Positive | bovee23 Suffolk, VA (2 reviews) March 13, 2013 | Posted on December 30, 2012, updated March 13, 2013
After reading the negative reviews - I must say I'm shocked. I have ordered seeds from PepperJoe's for 3 years now and after my explosion of a garden last year (187 pepper plants - almost all of which grew from PepperJoe seeds!) I won't be changing where I get my seeds!!! I would say I had a 95% germination rate - which is way above what I expected. After getting over 8100 peppers (no, that isn't a typo!) I have expanded again and have already ordered 26 different varieties to grow next year (am going to get more as will have more room :)). Last year the several types of Habanero, Jalapeno, Peter, Italian Long Hots, Italian Pepperoncini, Thai Hot/Sun, PepperJoe Cayenne, Kung Pao and Anaheim were huge success!
Staff has always been quick to reply to questions and orders have arrived very quickly. I would highly recommend PepperJoe's for seeds and for any questions. Have turned on several friends (and family) to site that will be ordering there as well.
Keep up the great work PepperJoe!
Love the heat!
James On March 13th, 2013, bovee23 added the following:
Update from me! I ordered 26 different varieties of seeds from Pepper Joe and must say once again have been amazed at seed germination. For instance, I have had 100% success from the Butch "T" and Ghost peppers so far (that being 10 plants from 10 seeds). Only 10 of the 13 Carolina Reapers have come up though :) YES, ONLY!!! 10 of 13? that's insanely good... Super Hots are doing awesome. (If had more time and wanted to bore you with more - all the others have very similar success so far!)
Keep up the Great work Pepper Joe (and Penny too! - those tomato's are doing very well too!)

| Positive | Bpwilly Covington, WA (4 reviews) March 10, 2013 | I make an order for a few seeds from Pepper Joe this year. I ordered the Carolina Reaper and Moruga TS from Pepper Joe. So far, the Carolina Reaper seeds are 6 for 6 and they all came up in 10 days which beat the heck out of a lot of my other super hot seeds. The Moruga seeds are 4 for 6 so far and they have been coming up a little slower, but that makes it 10 out of 12 seeds so far. I did hold a few seeds back to hedge my bets, but I can say I have been very pleased. The surprise packages of other peppers seeds the Joe sends his customers have just been planted so I am expecting them to have just as good of a germination rate. I would and will purchase from Pepper Joe in the future.

| Positive | ClemsonJohn Augusta, GA (1 review) March 9, 2013 | I decided to get into pepper gardening this past season and had no idea where to start outside of the Home Depot jalapenos. I found Joe's website and discovered a ton of varieties and even a bunch of great tips on how to grow chili peppers. I ordered several varieties and recieved them within a week along with two FREE packs of seeds. Being a newbie, I did not expect much in my first year, however, I had a germ rate of 85% with some of my super hots popping in only FOUR days!!! I give all the credit to excellent seed quality, something I can trust I will get with Pepper Joe. Joe offered wonderful customer service and I will soon place another order for next season with the anticipation of a much larger grow!!! |
| Positive | WildcatChili Phoenix, AZ (1 review) March 9, 2013 | I've tried 17 different varieties of Pepper Joe's seeds and, with two exceptions, I was getting pretty close to 100% germination rates. The problem with one of them, the Chilie Tepin, was due to planter error. I learned that when I planted seeds from the same packet using a bio dome and heat mat this year and all the seeds germinated. The other one, Chocolate Habs, didn't grow either year. I posted my comments on another forum and Joe tracked me down in less than a day via email, sent me replacement Habs and included a freebie pack of seeds within a week. The replacement Habs are growing with the help of the bio dome and heat mat as are the freebie White 7 Pot seeds.
Additionally, everything I put in the ground or pot last summer gave me the pepper I was expected. I'll definitely order from Pepper Joe again. |
| Positive | budjuardo Rochester, NY (1 review) March 8, 2013 | After purchasing seeds last season from Pepper Joe's I was impressed with the speed of delivery, the germination rate of the seeds and the growth and production of the plants. Because of these traits I again ordered seeds for this years crop. 2 of the 3 packets I ordered were as expected. The giant jalapeno's however were quite disappointing. Only 2 seeds out of 20 germinated. I wrote the company, not expecting much, and was suprised at how quickly they responded. Not only were they genuinely concerned and apologetic, they are sending me replacement seeds at no cost! How, or why, would anyone buy elsewhere when product satisfaction is 100%? I love Pepper Joe's!!!!!! Company representative comment on March 9, 2013: On Mar 9, 2013 5:50 AM, Pepper Joe's Inc. responded with:THANKS so much to all for the recent group of positive reviews. | Positive | dan_souza Levittown, PA (1 review) March 3, 2013 | I have been a customer of Pepper Joe's for 3 years now. I have had at least 90% germination rate in all the peppers I buy from him. I mostly buy super hots but last year I decided to try his sweet peppers and they were wonderful. Since I have had great success with the peppers. I have changed who I buy my tomato seeds from this year, I am using Penny's Tomatoes. I will post a review of them at the end of the season. I also like the fact that he always trows in 2 packs of free seeds. This year the free seeds were Jalapeno and I had 100% germination with them. Looks like I will be enjoying allot of poppers this year. |
| Positive | Tim_Supreme Fort Collins, CO (1 review) March 2, 2013 | Pepper Joe has been one of the best company for pepper and tomato genetics. I rarely, if ever, have a bad experience with his seeds and love the way they turn out. Fast shipping, fast germination, great crops! I could't ask for a better hot pepper company with the variety Pepper Joe offers. The only word that comes to mind is, "excellent." I will recommend Pepper Joe to all of my friends and family. |
| Positive | sk8rbro123 Pompano Beach, FL (1 review) March 2, 2013 | First and foremost, Pepper Joe's has been my go to seed spot for hots and super hots. The quality, and variety of seeds is far superior to other companies out there, and their customer service is top notch. For example: I bought their jalapeno 3 pack which came with 3 varieties of jalapenos, not to mention 2 free 10 packs of seeds with my order. The order came super fast with directions on how to germinate for the best results. I followed the directions and 2 out of the three jalapeno's germinated within a week, the giant jalapeno, unfortunately was a dud and nothing grew after about 3 weeks. I contacted Pepper Joe to inform him, and NO QUESTIONS ASKED replaced my pack of seeds, apologized and offered me more advice on things that may help.
Pepper Joe is about as knowledgeable as they come with regards to peppers, every concern that I may have, I contact him and within a day or two I have an answer that diagnoses the problem and sets my mind at ease.
Now Pepper Joe has more than just peppers and tomatoes on his website for sale, he also has MycoBlast and Soil Blast which I personally have just bought to give my soil a quick shot in the arm.
Shopping with Pepper Joe is a pleasure, and is made SUPER easy. He will be, without question the only person/website I go to for seeds and advice on growing peppers.
Thanks Pepper Joe!! |
| Positive | LaurelsFarm Lomita, CA (Zone 10b) (18 reviews) March 1, 2013 | Love Pepper Joe's and Penny's Tomatoes! Great selection of seeds, great customer service, excellent germination rates and these folks are so easy to communicate with -- personalized service and helpful hints. Be sure and try their Hot Sauce Collection! Fabulous recipes, flavorful, fragrant and hot! Penny's Barbecue Sauce is the best I've ever had in my more than 50 years of loving barbecue, tomatoey with a touch of papaya and molasses, garlic and a little lime juice, just awesome. And Joe's Wing Sauce is perfectly balanced -- to die for. They put a lot of effort into their companies. No wonder thousands of loyal, happy customers, including me, are really glad to have them around!

| Positive | lobsterlover12 Verona, IL (2 reviews) January 19, 2013 | I have ordered seeds from both Pepper Joe's and Penny's Tomatoes. They are quick to send my items to me, offer great shipping deals, include more seeds than promised per pack, and free packs of seeds with my orders. I was lucky enough to be gifted Serrano seeds in early September with my Carolina Reaper order. They are a vivacious and hardy plant. What a nice and unexpected bonus for my garden. At one point, I was confused as to the best care for some of my plants. I e-mailed the companies and received fast replies with expert advice on how to best maintain my plants. I am proud to be a loyal customer of PJ and PT and will continue to purchase seeds for myself and my friends through their site. I am the envy of my neighbors, even in the middle of winter, because I have tomato plants taller than myself growing in my indoor garden. Fresh tomatoes and peppers at Christmas will make any summer gardeners jealous. And if these plants can do this well inside, I can't wait to get my outdoor garden started in the Spring!!! | Neutral | ar628411 Athens, OH (1 review) January 5, 2013 | Overall, I was pleased with the order. I intended on making this review after my harvest this year, but I was too busy. I have finally made the time to write this review and let me say, Pepper Joe has some great stuff!
The variety of jalapeno and habaneros, exotic and ultra spicy peppers is fantastic. Two things that disappointed me were the yield of the plants, as well as the peppers weren't always quite as described.
I have been growing different varieties of store bought seed for a couple years and It occurred to me that buying from an actual online seed source would provide me with even more variety and better genetics. The variety is great, but plants did little better, if not worse than the regular store bought seeds, but cost significantly more.
Great variety, but i'm not sure if it's really worth the extra money. It was worth a shot though! Company representative comment on January 17, 2013: On Jan 17, 2013 3:06 PM, Pepper Joe's Inc. responded with:Thanks for the input, ar628411,

| Positive | gardenbops Milford, CT (2 reviews) November 19, 2012 | I learned about Pepper Joe's through its sister company, P enny's Tomatoes. I had a great experience with Penny's tomatoes so I decided to try Pepper Joe's. I don't agree with other reviews that say the seeds are overpriced. I think they are reasonable. I mostly build and maintain community gardens, so I have the opportunity to work with a lot of vendors. I bought the sweet pepper collection because most of the people I build gardens for prefer sweet peppers to hot peppers. I also do a lot of children's gardens, so sweet peppers are best for my needs. The shipping was fast and the service was great. There were also bonus seeds. Penny and Joe are just nice honest folks with great service. I recommend them - AND the most important part, the seeds had at the very least an 85% germination rate, with most at 90%. We appreciate you as a customer and THANK YOU so much for your kind words and positive review. Glad you were happy with our "Sweet treats" collection. Like yourself many customer like sweet peppers as much or more than hot peppers. That's why we're adding 4 new sweet peppers to our 2013 Catalog. They include the Golden Marconi, Aconncagua, Keystone Giant and Chinese Giant. Fiery Regards, Pepper Joe. |
| Neutral | cyberageous Everglades, FL (Zone 10a) (2 reviews) September 4, 2012 | I prefer Pepper Joe's seeds, altho they are a bit pricey compared to say, Caribbean Seed Co. I also like that PJ's is a family business which I fully support the family businesses. Their wide variety is a HUGE plus.
I did call tho about a much desired seed here in SW FL, the Cachucha pepper from Cuba. The lady that answered their phone wasn't exactly cordial about it. If she was nicer, now that I have found my seeds, I would grow them (cachuchas) and send them seeds, just to be nice but that lady sure wasn't nice to me!
Tomato Growers, based in Ft Meyers don't have a huge selection but are nice and affordable. Company representative comment on September 4, 2012: On Sep 4, 2012 1:25 PM, Pepper Joe's Inc. responded with:Thanks for the post cyberageous,
I appreciate the positive comments. Everyone that works for us is a relection on Pepper Joe's, so I'll certainly have a chat with the lady you spoke to.

| Negative | Chrisk1986 Omaha, NE (5 reviews) July 9, 2012 | This was the second year I ordered seed from him, the first was Bhuts and they were great even over wintered a plant.
This year how ever is a different story, I have 3 Bhut Jolokia plants all with different types of peppers, 1 is smooth skinned and look like a habanero, 1 has a tail like a trinidad scorpion, and the other looks like a normal bhut but the pepper is very small.
My yellow Bhuts are a little different and don't really look like Bhuts but there's only one plant with large enough peppers to make a claim so I'll wait and see.
My 2 Butch T's don't look anything like any peppers I've seen them, no tails at all and there not as "fat" but well see
We have a small farm so the seeds were all started a few weeks a part and labeled multiple times(to prevent mix ups) The germination rates were good on everything but the butch t( 2 of 10 seeds) everything else was about 95%
I do have black jalapeños and paprika peppers from them also and they are doing well, but the fact my super hots aren't what there spouse to be leaves a really bad taste with this company, there sending me a new seed pack for the red bhut but it doesn't matter as I can't trust the seed in the first place which is really dissappointing Company representative comment on July 13, 2012: On Jul 13, 2012 4:45 PM, Pepper Joe's Inc. responded with:Hi ChrisK,
Thanks for your input.
I'm glad to hear that most of our seeds had a 95% germination rate....that is awesome. The Butch T didn't do so well for you so I'll gladly replace the pack. Just email me direct at pepperjoe@sc.rr.com
I'm also glad to hear your Black Jalapenos and Paprika are doing well.
There can be a variation of Pod shapes with the SuperHots. Also, try as hard as we do, we get occasional crosses. It's not uncommon when you offer as many different varieties as we do, even though we grow many in isolation. So I'll gladly replace those seeds as well.
We're determined to make every customer happy, and manage to achieve that in the overwhelming majority of cases. Again Chris just email me with the mailing address you'd like your 2 replacement pack of seeds sent to and mention the Bhuts and Butch T.
Great Gardening and Fiery Regards,
Pepper Joe

| Positive | Mateo775 Reno, NV (1 review) February 22, 2012 | Ordered some ghost peppers, chocolate habanero, and mustard habanero peppers. Order arrived very quickly along with some free mulato isleno and hot cow horn peppers. The ghost peppers sprouted within about 9 days surprisingly, so far only one chocolate habanero has sprouted after about two weeks. Everything else is coming along fine. I hope the. Chocolate Habaneros sprout soon! Company representative comment on February 22, 2012: On Feb 22, 2012 1:27 AM, Pepper Joe's Inc. responded with:Hi Matteo,

That Chocolate Hab can be a finicky germinator. Keep the temps ideally at 80 or 85 degrees for optimimum germination. Also, when watering give them a throuough soaking, but don't water again until the soil gets almost completely dry for a day so as to not over waater them.
Our seeds DO germinate well and I'm getting much positive feedback this season again. But if for whatever reason yours do not, just email me at pepperjoe@sc.rr.com and we'll fix it.

| Positive | ChrisRhetts Acworth, GA (1 review) July 13, 2011 | I ordered 7 varieties of pepper seeds and they all came promptly, along with a couple packets of free seeds. The seeds all germinated well and I'm quite happy with them.
This looks like a fairly small outfit, which posts helpful videos at their website featuring Pepper Joe himself. The genuine enthusiasm he demonstrates in these videos is really infectious and pretty much what sold me on giving his company a whirl. I'll be using this company for my pepper seed source from now on.
I guarantee you, if you are a hot pepper nut, like I am, you ought to give this guy a shot. Company representative comment on July 13, 2011: On Jul 13, 2011 9:45 AM, Pepper Joe's Inc. responded with:Thanks for the vote of confidence Chris. We're thrilled to have you for a customer.

The order came in with a cook book and extra seeds. Very good seed source here, and Pepper Joe is very friendly. Highly recommended.
