I ordered 23 packs of seeds on Monday and had them in my hands on Friday! Definitely surprised but very excited. I love the selection and am a huge fan of the heirloom, NON-GMO, less well known choices they offer. I found the prices really reasonable by comparison to other companies and in fact cheaper than many. I will most definitely be ordering from them again and don't care if I never get another catalog from the "big guys". Great job, keep up the good work!

Thank you so much for supporting our seed variety preservation work with your orders and I am glad that you chose us over the "big guys" to partner with you in your garden.
As a new customer from Zone 13, I was pleased by the swiftness and response to my January order. The seeds came well-packaged, and the first planting showed high germination.
On the packaging: I was impressed with detailed lable on the standard sized packets. Then I noticed two things which put Victory Seeds ahead of their competition: first, the seeds are in a clear resealable plastic bag which keeps mosture out and provides a clear view of the seed condition; second, the outer standard size packet is resealable which allows the gardener to keep the seeds organized and out of direct light. I am convinced that this packaging contributes to the high germination rates that I found on first planting.
On the shipping: I also appreciate that the seeds came via USPS which handled the package tracking and first class postage with ease. I believe more companies should use our national postal service, and that is a plus in Victory's favor. Besides, so many companies cannot ship to Hawaii and Alaska because they rely on non-USPS shipping.
On timelyness: I received my order within 4 days, which allowed me to begin planting that weekend. My peas and beets are doing well.
Well done, Victory Seeds.
I look forward to my next package.

Thank you for taking the time to write the nice comment. Since we know it is \"that time of year\" and that the seeds won\'t be staying in their packets very long once they are in your hands, we do work hard to get folks\' orders out as quickly as we can. Thank you for noticing that.
Regarding out of stock items . . . if you look on the variety\'s product page, when it is out of stock there is a button that is available that allows you to add yourself to the \"Waiting List\" for that item. When I get it back into stock, you are sent an automated email letting you know.
The reason that I mention that is often, we are not really out of stock, it is just that the system thinks we are an one of us has to review inventory and update the cart. We do this daily.

I received both of my orders very quickly. Everything was very well packaged and I have never had anything missing from an order or a seed packet that was short on seeds. Their customer service has been the best I've ever experienced with an online retailer. They are incredibly helpful and courteous and have gone out of their way to make sure I'm a happy customer. I love that they were an early signer of the Safe Seed Pledge and that they are not in the tiniest way affiliated with Monsanto or any other GMO seed company. As for the person complaining about the optional package insurance (and taking pages and pages to do so) - good grief he needs a new hobby! I've bought and sold stuff on websites like eBay and Etsy for years and package insurance is ALWAYS an option and the seller is NEVER responsible for a package once it leaves their hands. That is common practice!! Please don't let that disgruntled and unreasonable person discourage you from doing business with Victory Seed Company. This is a company with integrity that really cares about what they do and about their customers. I intend to do business with them as long as I can still dig in the dirt.

In regards to gardening hydroponically . . . It is funny that you ask. I have been receiving quite a few inquiries from folks about this subject. It is a food production method that is of interest to me but unfortunately, one that I do not have a lot of hands-on experience with. That said, I will be working to compile information from customer feedback and build a section on the web site in the future.
For tomatoes, I do have a section created for varieties that are suitable for container gardening so some of those may do well in a hydroponic grow. You can find it on the site here - [HYPERLINK@www.victoryseeds.com] 'Tiny Tim' is a variety that comes to mind.
When you do start on your hydroponic adventure, drop me an email and we can all compare notes.

Firstly, we do operate the Victory Seed Company using old-fashioned values where our word, reputation, and relationships are everything. We know that people have nearly unlimited choices in where to buy seeeds. But seeds are all about faith and trust -- faith that they will actually grow, and trust that they are what the merchant says they are -- and we take both seriously.
And for me, although it seems like just yesterday that we took over the management of our family's farm, as you pointed out, it has been a fair number of years ago. This has only been possible by the support and partnership of folks like you. Thank you again for your kind words and your continued support.

Last year I ordered just a few different kinds of tobacco seed from VICTORY SEED CO knowing very little about either. I started the microscopic seeds indoors and to my surprise they germinated well, thrived and were eventually transplanted outdoors and I was blessed with a full crop of New Jersey Grown Tobacco (yes - you heard that right) which I subsequently dried, cured, rolled and smoked for my 1st all natural home grown NJ cigar as well as NJ pipe tobacco. I quit smoking many years ago and only grew this crop of tobacco simply as a gardiner's experiment for simply proving that it could in fact be done here in NJ. I smoked a few samples to conclude that it was in fact smokeable/enjoyable product. I had such great success with last years tobacco experiment that I came back for a second year and decided to ditch the big name GMO seed companies for all of my vegetable seeds and go strictly with VICTORY SEEDS and pursue plants/vegetables/herbs..etc that I could in fact plant, grow, eat, preserve, enjoy and also do my part to preserve rare and threatened plant varieties (similar to the concept of growing NJ tobacco:)
In an attempt to shake off this winter's cold and think spring, I placed my spring seed order on 1/4/14 with VICTORY SEED CO. It arrived today, 1/10/14 and the entire order of over 100+ seed packets, almost all different varieties for each pack, was 100% spot on correct!
I am thrilled to have such great service, quality seeds that produce quality plants and know that I can count on VICTORY SEEDS for all my vegetable and herb seed needs. I am also happy to know that I am helping VICTORY SEED CO. to preserve rare and threatened plant varieties for all to enjoy.

It is a statement that I use a lot but I really want to thank you for actually understanding the important role that gardeners assume in the preservation work. VSC can find, grow, document, and re-release varieties all we want, but it really does take folks like you, choosing to purchase seeds from us, to fund the work. As important, growing them in your garden ensures that the varieties are protected. Seeds sitting in vials in freezers still eventually die. They must all be grown and spread far and wide to really be safe.

Originally I chose Victory Seeds because it was one of the companies operating in Oregon where I live. After growing their seeds for a couple of years, I find myself leaning in their direction when I'm looking for dependability--excellent germination rates, vigorous growth, and uniformity of product true to the original description. Last Fall, In a moment of panic about our economy, I considered how to be best prepared. I decided to order all my basics from Victory so I could at least be assured of having a good garden. They arrived almost immediately and I tucked them away like the little treasures that they are.
On December 9th, 2011, Chamelaux added the following:
I just want to add that the garden was fabulous, as expected. We have the best stock of winter food of anyone I know. I have also added the saving of some of my own seed this year, such a wonderful gift from the earth. Thank you, Victory, for making this kind of seed available that returns true each year. I've just completed another order, including red worms, and I know I'd better get ready because orders from Victory come at lightening speed. On October 11th, 2013, Chamelaux added the following:
Well, here it is, the harvest of another year and I'm singing the praises of Victory Seed Company with food stored everywhere, much given away, and beans still being picked and dried. I appreciate learning new things from their website and emails. This year they made it so easy to get going on the winter garden that is now growing strong. I'm definitely going to take advantage of the 10% off sale on 2013 seeds. With the fantastic germination rate I've learned to expect from Victory Seeds, they'll be well worth it!!!On Oct 11, 2013, Victory Seed Company responded with:

Thank you so much for all of the great feedback. It is always nice to hear that our efforts are appreciated. It is also awesome to hear success stories from folks like you who have committed some of their time towards producing food for their table, as well as others. In this modern age, when governments and large corporations are constantly trying to convince us otherwise, food is still an inalienable right . . . and raising even a small portion of our personal diets keeps us grounded (quite literally :) ). Thank you again for taking the time to share your experiences with other gardeners on this public forum and especially thank you for continuing to support our seed variety preservation work with your orders!

Mike Dunton took time out of his busy day to correct a very stupid mistake I made. It concerned a small order, and I am not a regular customer, but he treated me as a very valued customer all the same. No wonder the company is in DG's Top 30! It is a pleasure doing business with them.

This company carries some very obscure tomato varieties, and I was able to find the Livingston introductions that I was looking for. They shipped very promptly. In addition the seed envelopes are very informative. Also, their shipping fee is very low--thanks so much!!

Thank you for taking the time to let others know about your experience with us and also for noticing the work that we do, specifically with tomatoes. It is greatly appreciated.
I am not sure if you saw it on our site, but resurrecting the "Livingston Collection" has been a decades long project (passion) of mine. When I started this work, very few of the varieties were available. But after many years of working with collectors, preservationists and government seed banks, we are now able to offer the collection you found on our site.
Thank you again for supporting our seed variety preservation work with your orders and for your feedback here.

I stumbled apon Victory seed about 10 years ago while trying to locate seeds for Orange King tomato, developed by UNH . I live in NH and couldn't locate any. I got my first catalog and seed order that year. Much to my surprise every seed I started grew! It is still one of my favorite tomatoes (great color, flavor, and dependable production) I have ordered many more tomatoes and hard to locate shell beans from Victory every year since. Every seed always grows. The packaging is outstanding and well labeled. The website is well illustrated with good descriptions. I grew tomatoes this year from 5 yr old seed with the same results. I grow 85 -100 tomato plants a year and the only seeds I cant get from Victory are the few hybrids I grow because of their disease resistance here. It's better to have some mediocre tomatoes than no tomatoes when blight strikes NE. I am trying 6 of the Dwarf Tomato Project varieties and so far they are doing very well.Best seed company hands down!

Hi nutfieldmom! Thank you so much for your kind words. Not only is it cool to hear that the work that we do is appreciated, it is awesome to hear from someone who has been a longtime supporter. We are in this work for the long haul, not short-term gain, which allows us to focus on providing the highest quality seeds that nature and biology allow. Have a great gardening season and we look forward to being "your" seed company for many more years to come. ~Mike"

I am very pleased with the varieties available through Victory Seed. Their website is informative and easy to navigate, and the plant descriptions were helpful when it felt like I'd been reading and comparing for hours. My seeds were packaged securely and shipped quickly. I have planted about 8 varieties of vegetables so far and all have germinated well, close to 100%, and are thriving. I will definitely be a repeat customer!

I actually ordered from this company 2 years ago but I wanted to rate them. I was very pleased with my seed purchases and the germination/health of the seeds was very high. I would recommend them to anyone looking for rare heirlooms or open-pollinated varieties.
