I am absolutely delighted with Mike and the folks at Victory Seeds. Wonderful selection of seeds, courteous service and prompt processing and delivery. I recently received my first order delivered to here in Canada in just under two weeks. I really appreciated the e-mail notifications of the status of my order so I knew exactly when it had been received, fulfilled and shipped. It was my first order, but definitely won't be my last!! Thanks!!!

One of my favorite online seed sources.
Victory Seed carries a lot of hard to find open pollinated varieties, including many rare seeds.

The shipping is always fast too.
As someone who rarely uses all of the seed in a single packet at one time, I really appreciate the ziploc bag inside the paper seed packet.
Another bonus is the full description of the product on the paper seed packet. So many companies do not provide that information on the seed packet. Most have generic information that applies to all varieties of the particular type of seed.
Victory lists the days to maturity along with other information right on the packet. This saves having to locate the listing for specific seeds when making decisions about what to grow.
I've had very good germination with all of the seeds I've purchased and appreciate the little things that make this company special.

I have never ordered from this company, but was thrilled with how quickly they sent the seeds. Many people think well of this company, so I am looking forward to growing the seeds. I was disappointed that they were already out of some seeds I wanted (Mexico Midget) but I am glad they have a waiting list.

On February 7th, 2015, Lilyhazen added the following:

MIke, I did click on the waiting list for 3-4 items. I am keeping my fingers crossed! Keep up the good work, and thanks for replying so quickly!
On March 4th, 2015, Lilyhazen added the following:

Got a notice that one of the items I wanted was now available, so I ordered and got it quickly. I really appreciate that!

If I could make one suggestion--if someone orders something after being on the wait list, it would be nice if the price of shipping (which is great) could be reduced a bit. Getting one packet is doubled in price by the shipping cost.

Still, a great company!

Hello Lilyhazen,

Thank you for taking the time to write the nice comment. Since we know it is \"that time of year\" and that the seeds won\'t be staying in their packets very long once they are in your hands, we do work hard to get folks\' orders out as quickly as we can. Thank you for noticing that.

Regarding out of stock items . . . if you look on the variety\'s product page, when it is out of stock there is a button that is available that allows you to add yourself to the \"Waiting List\" for that item. When I get it back into stock, you are sent an automated email letting you know.

The reason that I mention that is often, we are not really out of stock, it is just that the system thinks we are an one of us has to review inventory and update the cart. We do this daily.

Thank you again for choosing to garden with Victory Seeds® and for helping to support our seed variety preservation work with your order!

As a new customer from Zone 13, I was pleased by the swiftness and response to my January order. The seeds came well-packaged, and the first planting showed high germination.
On the packaging: I was impressed with detailed lable on the standard sized packets. Then I noticed two things which put Victory Seeds ahead of their competition: first, the seeds are in a clear resealable plastic bag which keeps mosture out and provides a clear view of the seed condition; second, the outer standard size packet is resealable which allows the gardener to keep the seeds organized and out of direct light. I am convinced that this packaging contributes to the high germination rates that I found on first planting.
On the shipping: I also appreciate that the seeds came via USPS which handled the package tracking and first class postage with ease. I believe more companies should use our national postal service, and that is a plus in Victory's favor. Besides, so many companies cannot ship to Hawaii and Alaska because they rely on non-USPS shipping.
On timelyness: I received my order within 4 days, which allowed me to begin planting that weekend. My peas and beets are doing well.
Well done, Victory Seeds.
I look forward to my next package.

I have purchased my vegetable garden seed from Victory Seed Company for two years now and have been very pleased with the seed and with this company. They have an excellent selection of rare and heirloom seeds. The website is helpful and easy to navigate. My seeds have performed well with good germination rates and high production. I received both of my orders very quickly. Everything was very well packaged and I have never had anything missing from an order or a seed packet that was short on seeds. Their customer service has been the best I've ever experienced with an online retailer. They are incredibly helpful and courteous and have gone out of their way to make sure I'm a happy customer. I love that they were an early signer of the Safe Seed Pledge and that they are not in the tiniest way affiliated with Monsanto or any other GMO seed company. As for the person complaining about the optional package insurance (and taking pages and pages to do so) - good grief he needs a new hobby! I've bought and sold stuff on websites like eBay and Etsy for years and package insurance is ALWAYS an option and the seller is NEVER responsible for a package once it leaves their hands. That is common practice!! Please don't let that disgruntled and unreasonable person discourage you from doing business with Victory Seed Company. This is a company with integrity that really cares about what they do and about their customers. I intend to do business with them as long as I can still dig in the dirt.

In regards to gardening hydroponically . . . It is funny that you ask. I have been receiving quite a few inquiries from folks about this subject. It is a food production method that is of interest to me but unfortunately, one that I do not have a lot of hands-on experience with. That said, I will be working to compile information from customer feedback and build a section on the web site in the future.

For tomatoes, I do have a section created for varieties that are suitable for container gardening so some of those may do well in a hydroponic grow. You can find it on the site here - [HYPERLINK@www.victoryseeds.com] 'Tiny Tim' is a variety that comes to mind.

When you do start on your hydroponic adventure, drop me an email and we can all compare notes.

Firstly, we do operate the Victory Seed Company using old-fashioned values where our word, reputation, and relationships are everything. We know that people have nearly unlimited choices in where to buy seeeds. But seeds are all about faith and trust -- faith that they will actually grow, and trust that they are what the merchant says they are -- and we take both seriously.

And for me, although it seems like just yesterday that we took over the management of our family's farm, as you pointed out, it has been a fair number of years ago. Seeds arrived in a very timely fashion yesterday, 25th Jan.
Lover the simple and concise instruction on the seed packets.

I will be growing these alongside other open pollinated seeds bought from my regular supplier here in the UK, The Real Seed Company, based in Wales, and some other seed I bought from New Hope Seeds in Tennessee.

I grow on my Allotment (separate land from my House garden) in the town I live in which is about 26 miles north of London...but feels like a different world!!

I will feed back on the success or otherwise....but I am confident.
Really looking forward to saving the seeds from this crop and rest assured, as Chairman of our Allotment Association, that I will spread the gospel according to Victory Seeds here in the UK.

On the Southern Pea. Indeed. But I am going to get them going in the tunnel and plant out later than normal when warmth will be (or not, this is the UK after all) at its peak.

Anyway, good stuff... I will keep you posted.

Hi Les,

Thank you so much for your order and for spreading the word about us in your part of the world. It is greatly appreciated.

I am very impressed regarding your commitment to gardening. I live for getting my hands in the soil but driving 26 miles to the garden? Wow!

I am looking forward to your garden report. Some of the varieties that you are trying may be challenging for your area. Your climate is fairly comparable to mine here in Oregon (right?) so 'Peter' peppers and the Southern peas may take some babying.

Thank you again,

~Mike

I ordered seeds in 2012 from Victory Seeds as well as another on line heirloom seed company. I had the greatest success from Victory Seeds. I start most of my seeds indoors under grow lights and have had excellent germination rates from Victory Seeds. I am ordering all my seeds from Victory this year. I enjoy the reviews section for each seed listed because I use this info to help me determine what will grow best in my area as well as get ideas for new things I want to grow. I am an avid canner and like any info about canning/freezing that people leave for a particular variety. This year I sat down and left reviews for the seeds I grew last year. Please remember to do this-I know it takes time but it is very helpful for other customers! I have had to e-mail Victory Seeds with questions or help and they answer very quickly and are very friendly. The seeds are shipped quickly and I am a customer for life.

Hello,
Last year I ordered just a few different kinds of tobacco seed from VICTORY SEED CO knowing very little about either. I started the microscopic seeds indoors and to my surprise they germinated well, thrived and were eventually transplanted outdoors and I was blessed with a full crop of New Jersey Grown Tobacco (yes - you heard that right) which I subsequently dried, cured, rolled and smoked for my 1st all natural home grown NJ cigar as well as NJ pipe tobacco. I quit smoking many years ago and only grew this crop of tobacco simply as a gardiner's experiment for simply proving that it could in fact be done here in NJ. I smoked a few samples to conclude that it was in fact smokeable/enjoyable product. I had such great success with last years tobacco experiment that I came back for a second year and decided to ditch the big name GMO seed companies for all of my vegetable seeds and go strictly with VICTORY SEEDS and pursue plants/vegetables/herbs..etc that I could in fact plant, grow, eat, preserve, enjoy and also do my part to preserve rare and threatened plant varieties (similar to the concept of growing NJ tobacco:)

In an attempt to shake off this winter's cold and think spring, I placed my spring seed order on 1/4/14 with VICTORY SEED CO. It arrived today, 1/10/14 and the entire order of over 100+ seed packets, almost all different varieties for each pack, was 100% spot on correct!

I am thrilled to have such great service, quality seeds that produce quality plants and know that I can count on VICTORY SEEDS for all my vegetable and herb seed needs. I am also happy to know that I am helping VICTORY SEED CO. to preserve rare and threatened plant varieties for all to enjoy.

Happy Gardening To All!

Wow, Mark! Thank you for the awesome information about your gardening successes this past year and thank you for choosing us as your seed supplier. We will do our best to continue to live up to your praise.

I would also like to thank you for doing your "part to preserve rare and threatened plant varieties." It is a statement that I use a lot but I really want to thank you for actually understanding the important role that gardeners assume in the preservation work. VSC can find, grow, document, and re-release varieties all we want, but it really does take folks like you, choosing to purchase seeds from us, to fund the work. As important, growing them in your garden ensures that the varieties are protected. Seeds sitting in vials in freezers still eventually die. They must all be grown and spread far and wide to really be safe.

Thank you again!

I received my order very prompt with the week. Pretty good shipping from North west to East coast. Very fast. I look forward to trying out the seeds but have to wait for Spring. Yes I have the gardening itch during the winter and start ordering some seeds before the online rush. Each seed pack comes in green colored packet with large type stick-on label that provides name, species and other common names, growing instructions , etc. Also a bit of interesting info about the seed. Very informative on the other side of the seed packet as well about keeping seeds and other website info URL too. I look forward to providing another positive feedback when it's time to sow.

Originally I chose Victory Seeds because it was one of the companies operating in Oregon where I live. After growing their seeds for a couple of years, I find myself leaning in their direction when I'm looking for dependability--excellent germination rates, vigorous growth, and uniformity of product true to the original description. Last Fall, In a moment of panic about our economy, I considered how to be best prepared. I decided to order all my basics from Victory so I could at least be assured of having a good garden. They arrived almost immediately and I tucked them away like the little treasures that they are.

On December 9th, 2011, Chamelaux added the following:

I just want to add that the garden was fabulous, as expected. We have the best stock of winter food of anyone I know. I have also added the saving of some of my own seed this year, such a wonderful gift from the earth. Thank you, Victory, for making this kind of seed available that returns true each year. I've just completed another order, including red worms, and I know I'd better get ready because orders from Victory come at lightening speed.
On October 11th, 2013, Chamelaux added the following:

Well, here it is, the harvest of another year and I'm singing the praises of Victory Seed Company with food stored everywhere, much given away, and beans still being picked and dried. I appreciate learning new things from their website and emails. This year they made it so easy to get going on the winter garden that is now growing strong. I'm definitely going to take advantage of the 10% off sale on 2013 seeds. With the fantastic germination rate I've learned to expect from Victory Seeds, they'll be well worth it!!!

Thank you so much for all of the great feedback. It is always nice to hear that our efforts are appreciated. It is also awesome to hear success stories from folks like you who have committed some of their time towards producing food for their table, as well as others. In this modern age, when governments and large corporations are constantly trying to convince us otherwise, food is still an inalienable right . . . and raising even a small portion of our personal diets keeps us grounded (quite literally :) ). Thank you again for taking the time to share your experiences with other gardeners on this public forum and especially thank you for continuing to support our seed variety preservation work with your orders!

I am not sure if you saw it on our site, but resurrecting the "Livingston Collection" has been a decades long project (passion) of mine. When I started this work, very few of the varieties were available. But after many years of working with collectors, preservationists and government seed banks, we are now able to offer the collection you found on our site.

Thank you again for supporting our seed variety preservation work with your orders and for your feedback here.

I stumbled apon Victory seed about 10 years ago while trying to locate seeds for Orange King tomato, developed by UNH . I live in NH and couldn't locate any. I got my first catalog and seed order that year. Much to my surprise every seed I started grew! It is still one of my favorite tomatoes (great color, flavor, and dependable production) I have ordered many more tomatoes and hard to locate shell beans from Victory every year since. Every seed always grows. The packaging is outstanding and well labeled. The website is well illustrated with good descriptions. I grew tomatoes this year from 5 yr old seed with the same results. I grow 85 -100 tomato plants a year and the only seeds I cant get from Victory are the few hybrids I grow because of their disease resistance here. It's better to have some mediocre tomatoes than no tomatoes when blight strikes NE. I am trying 6 of the Dwarf Tomato Project varieties and so far they are doing very well.Best seed company hands down!
