Just a comment to say how professional and classy this company is. I had a very good selection of hostas shipped carefully for a good price. Several weeks later, I got an e-mail telling me that they found a virused Grand Tiara in their stock from a supplier. They explained what needed to be done, sent a photo attachment of what the virus infection looks like, and offered refund, credit, or replacement. My hosta looked OK last time I checked on it 5 days ago, but I now am sure what I should do and will remove it. I don't have to ask for them to be responsible, and they have earned a loyal customer.
Another satisfied customer here! After seeing their ratings here, I decided to order from them. The order arrived super-fast (I think within 2 days of ordering), the plant was in good shape, and I even got a bonus freebie of some emerging fiddleheads of a fern I'd ordered, that they originally thought would not be available at this time. Would definitely order from again.
Visiting this grower is a delight. I visit several times a year. You are able to see many specimens growing in their own gardens and they can not be more helpful in answering questions. When they didn't have a particular specimen that I wanted potted and for sale, they sold me a piece of one growing in their own garden!
Every speciman I have purchased has grown beautifully.

This is a great nursery! I e-mailed ahead to see if they were going to be open over Memorial Day, and Chris promptly responded and even offered to hold two hostas for me. When I got there, Chris was able to find a third hosta that I thought was sold out. I purchased Dick Ward, Loyalist and Spilt Milk. The display gardens are "to die for". I had to hold myself back from buying more because I wanted another reason to return. Hallson's has wonderful sun and shade plants (and the nice shade plants are hard to find; epimediums, brunneras. . . ). Hope the move goes well and I'll be back!

Just received my 2008 spring hosta order. Again, nice hostas and even a bonus hosta. The packaging was top notch and the email correspondence was great. What a great nursery! They are the best. Thanks again Chris and Dave.

Here is a superb company I hesitate to share with others. They are among the best I have ever dealt with because they are small and care about what they do and take pride in pleasing their customers. Their plants are superb specimens packaged with care and shipped appropriately.
Unfortunately, once many companies are found out they get more business than they can really handle. (It's the Peter Principle) So I share these comments with only a few and I hope you do the same.
This is my second year to order from Hallson's. All my plants have been well packed, healthy and I have lost none of them. Hallson's have been a pleasure to do business with. . . courteous and quick to respond to any correspondence.
I am definitely a returning customer.

This was my fourth year dealing with this nursery. I am more than ever pleased with the quality and quantity of their plants shipped. This is a business with quality, integrity, generosity and fast pleasant service. Their plants are always packed with extreme care and transplant nicely.
I highly recommend Hallson's. Indeed, if I had to narrow my business to only two nurseries Hallson's would definitely be one of them.
I am confidently looking forward to 2007 season with them. Hallson's has taken the stress out of mail ordering for me.
It is a pleasure to do business with Hallson Gardens. They carefully pack and ship good-sized, healthy, well rooted plants true to name. They e-mailed me when they shipped so I could be on the lookout for my delivery and even with a small order of just two hostas they enclosed a gift hosta! I strongly recommend this nursery.
What a pleasure it was to do business with this highly organised and customer friendly garden center...the prices are reasonable, packing great, and communication is A plus, and they even included a gift plant...what more can I ask for
If you're looking to order plants by mail...you should give this company your business ***** you won't be dissapointed!!!!!
I received excellent Hostas that were packed with great care and expertise from this company last year. Their customer service is faultless and they have been most helpful in every way. I can very highly recommend this company to any fellow Europeans that are planning to import Hostas from America.

I placed a small hosta order with Hallson Gardens in the spring of 2003. The plants arrived well packed, and in great shape. And after planting they practically jumped out of the ground. Chris Wilson responded in a very timely manner to my email questions. I will certainly order from Hallson again and in larger quantity as my garden continues to grow.
i have visited the nursery. how many time will owners not sell you a plant because it is not big enough. usaully it some small plant with no roots baked upon rcpt. not hallson they had huge plants that they said were not quite ready. great prices and plants
I recently ordered several Asiatic Lillies as well as Trumpet Lillies, and poppies from Hallsons. The bulbs were very well packaged and absolutely beautiful. Large, Firm and healthy. The roots on the Poppies were enormous and I can't wait to see what they'll do. They are so Friendly!! Even though my order was shipped right out and I got it within a week, they still emailed me to let me know it had been shipped! I will definately be ordering more from Hallsons in the spring! WONDERFUL!!
I decided to try this company due to the high rating on Garden Watchdog and placed an order for iris, daylillies and poppies. I received topnotch personal service when I phoned my order in and my plants arrived a few days later packaged in excellent condition. I was astonished to find they had included one of my favorite daylillies as a bonus, plus one extra iris and one extra poppy. I will definitely be ordering from this company again.

I have ordered hostas from Hallson 3 times. Every order was a complete pleasure - wonderful plants & excellent customer service. My first order was in July. I thought I was taking a chance with both the shipping and planting because of the summer heat. But the plants arrived in great shape and just started growing when I planted them. Good prices, too. I will always check Hallson first for any hostas I want in the future. Highly recommended.
I am lucky enough to live about 70 miles from Hallson Gardens, took my first trip out there yesterday. I went just to look around...and walked out with 5 hostas, of which I only purchased 3. Not only does Chris know his stock, he will walk you through his inground planting area describing anything that you would like to know more about. ALL of his hostas and perennials are unbelievably healthy. For those of you that live in other parts of the US, don't hesitate to purchase from Hallson Gardens, you won't be disappointed. I'm done searching for a good nursery, I've found it!

In the past two years, I have placed regular orders with Hallson's and have always been delighted with the hostas and perennials I have received. As others have stated, the root systems of the plants are exceptional, the division sizes are generous, and the growth rate once planted is phenomenal. Above all the service is exemplary. Chris offers personalized service and takes care of his customers. He and Brian have developed an admirable nursery from which one can purchase hostas and perennials with confidence. They offer quality plants and conduct their business honestly and with much integrity. I plan to purchase hostas and perennials from Hallson Gardens for many years to come.

Repeat orders...still terrific plants, great service and communication. I'll be a repeat customer as long as I have space for more plants.
I am so impressed with Hallson's. What other garden place would stay open for a customer. They close at 7:00 on Thursday and the owner said to come anyway and he would stay open for me. I got there at about 6:30 and left around 8:30. He was absolutely patience and gave some wonderful advise. I just love the fact that I can pick which plant I like the best out of the group and he would pull it from the ground.
Hallson's. I've been to many a garden store from Tennessee to Mi and Indiana to Cleveland. While all as been helpful - this place without a doubt goes over and beyond just being helpful. You can tell they really enjoy what they do.
I'd recomended Hallson Gardens to anyone..This nursery sends huge plant divisions..I've purchased a total of 18 hostas this spring, and every plant was in excellent shape, plus the root were huge..So don't hesitate, and go purchase a few plants from Hallson Gardens. Then you'll see what I'm talking about..I'm still in shock about the divisions I recieved from Hallson.
I bought hostas this spring from Hallson's. When I received them, they were very healthy looking with huge roots, but the leaves had not opened. When they did, one eye had reverted. When I e-mailed Chris, it was replaced right away.
I also have one hosta that is very slow in growing. Not dead or anything like that, just slow. I also told Chris about it, just so he would know that I might have a problem in the future.
I wasn't expecting another hosta or anything, just wanted him to know, but he went and gave me credit on my account for it anyway as he no longer had it in stock.
The other hostas are doing great and after receiving this kind of service, I will definitely buy from them in the future.
Their customer service is better than any other place I have ordered from.
You will not be disappointed if you order from them.
This is my second year ordering from Hallson. The service is personal and top-notch and the merchandise is high quality. I had a problem with a hosta that succumbed from last year and Chris replaced it. Bonus hostas are sent with orders and these are also great! They are not run-of-the-mill white-edged hostas. You can feel good about ordering from them - Chris makes it his business to ensure that customers are satisfied.

Hallson's hostas have the most amazing root systems I've ever seen!! I've received 3 orders from them now. I've never been even close to disappointed. I'm continually amazed at the high quality of plants!! My 3rd order was because the Regal Splendor I'd received in my earlier order this spring had reverted to Krossa Regal [the plant hadn't unfurled when I received it.] Chris replaced the RS & told me he'd not charge for shipping if I wanted to get any other plants. Naturally I got a couple more hostas I'd been wanting!! ;>) Chris' is the best customer-service guy I've ever dealt with. He wants his customers happy & coming back for more!! The way it's supposed to be!!! And he has always answered any e-mails I've sent him within the day - many times within the hour. I will definitely be coming back for more - hopefully in person to meet Chris & Brian one of these days!!
The other comments say it all. This is a quality operation that consistently delivers very healthy, undamaged plants at reasonable rates. Chris's focus is on customer service and customer satisfaction. One of the best mail-order companies out there.

I purchased items from Hallson's during a visit there August 2002. On May 26, 2003 I received a large box of plants and garden items ... All of the plants were well wrapped and cushioned and there was no breakage or problems ... Hallson's could teach other mail order garden companies about shipping and handling and how to properly pack plants! ALL of the divisions were nice sized and had generous roots ... Despite the bitter Michigan winter I did not lose a single Hallson's plant. All of the plants that arrived this year are doing exceptionally well. I can't thank them enough for their wonderful plants!
I ordered some hostas from Hallson Gardens in late Winter. These plants all had some of the strongest, cleanest root systems I've seen, and the plants are all doing wonderfully. I will be ordering again next Spring; this company was a pleasant discovery.

I ordered from Hallson Gardens for the first time this year and I am very happy with my order.I ordered 3 different "pulsatillas", and a "hardy geranium" The plants were healthy on arrival, and are doing well in my gardens. I thought their prices were fair, and the shipping costs were not too bad. I will order from them again.
1st time I order from them. I can see why they have so many possitive remarks. They are huge and healthy. Has got to be a premire hostas site. No one will ever go wrong doing business they them. Well order from them again for sure
I just received my first order from Hallson's and I couldn't be happier. The plants I received are gorgeous and healthy with large roots. Everything was wrapped beautifully and arrived without mishap. I received a nice discount for placing my order early and Chris included 2 bonus plants as well. Also, 2 of the hostas I ordered did not meet Chris's standards and he emailed me with replacement suggestions...and the replacements are perfect!
I'll definately be ordering again!
After a long and hazardous eleven day trip through Canada Customs and the infamous Canada Post my hostas arrived in poor shape, but due to the fantastic root system on all the plants they survived. Chris and Brian have great roots. Ron Moxham
