I ordered a couple dozen plants from Joy Creek. They were received on time as promised. The plants were really wonderful and well packed. They seemed to have little difficulty establishing in my garden, hundreds of miles away from their nursery. I also had the opportunity to visit the nursery. What a delight. The display gardens are an inspiration. I'd order from them again.

I ordered 5 perennials and 1 rose. My ordered was processed quickly and my plants arrived in a couple of days. The plants were of good size and very healthy. Each plant came in a lg. band which was wrapped in saran and newspaper. Not a leaf out of place! I would surely order from Joy Creek again.

First I must say that I live in Canada.
I ordered two clematis from them.
They were stuck at the custom of Canada for 8 days before being proceed.
So when I finally got them after 16 days being packed, the clematis were in really bad shape, they were all dry and looked like dead. I still don't know if they will grow back new year.
I did send them an Email telling them that they were in really bad shape ... but got no news since.
So, if you live in Canada, think twice before ordering from the States.
I had to pay for the sanitary inspection (10$ US) plus the shipping fees (30$ US) plus the customs clearance (15$ CAN). That pretty expensive for dead plants.
If I would have known, I would have tried to find a Canadian nursery before taking that chance.

They have a fabulous collection of plants, I don't think I've ever seen more types of clematis in one catalog. I ordered two lavender plants from them, arrived well packed and in good shape. They kept me well updated with both estimated and actual delivery date, and I'll be buying from them again.

I received my order from Joy Creek today and was totally impressed! The careful packaging was the best I've ever seen...and I get A LOT of plants delivered to my home! The customer service was excellent and their prices were more than fair. The hardy fucshias were an especially good deal at only $5 each. I highly recommend buying with this merchant.
I ordered three Daphne from this wonderful nursery at Sep 13th from Ottawa, Canada, the next day got an email concerned my weather is not good for Daphne and asked me to reconsider again. It's always great somebody will think in your shoes. I replied back and told them I am growing them indoors. Then the next day I got another email with a computer generated invoice with very detailed information. The price is unbeatable, I live in Canada, so I have to have a phytosanitary certificate, and I am surprised that they only charge 10 dollars, the TopTropical will charge 80, well that's the best deal I ever made. Then I got another email the next day said the state inspector was scheduled on Sep 16th and the ship date to be Sep 19th. Well, that's really amazed me, I hope that Canadian Government could work this well. On Sep 19th, I got another email said that my order was shipped and with another beautiful invoice in PDF format with very detailed information, the shipping only cost me 27 dollars, you have to know that I live in Canada and this is an express mail, I ordered two bare rooted plants from another nursery, they charged me 80 dollars for shipping.
By tracking the package, the plants arrived to the Customs at Sep 21th. On Sep 26th, I got the package, I am truely impressed by Joy Creek service, the package and everything is so professionally packaged and everything clearly marked. Joycreek deserves the number one nursery. Not only they have great plants, their service, I mean their service, like an efficient and well organized organization. They must have some CRM software installed to do this. Maurice Horn, who works in this nursery and really deserves a raise, is so patient with all my questions, the response always comes back the next morning.
In general, I highly recommend this nursery to everybody, sometimes, you really have to compare to know the difference.

Joy Creek has a wide variety of plants. Don't stop at clematis, although their clematis are great and I have been extremely pleased. Don't stop at fuchsias either. They have a large selection of ground covers, perennials, grasses and carex, on and on. Prices and shipping are reasonable.
You will have to do some hunting elsewhere on line if you need photos. They are few and far between.
They are a big help with plant selections. Be sure to ask to speak to a nursery person. I've bought from them 4 times now and I'll be back.
On May 18th, 2006, doss changed the rating from positive to neutral and added the following:
I changed the my rating from positive to neutral because the most recent things that I bought were very slow in coming. It was several weeks before they let me know that some of my plants weren't available. When contacted, the company did say that they had an unexpected crop failure. It took a very long time from ordering plants to receiving them. When the website says things are available it's sometimes not true.
Their plants are still really top notch and I will order from them again but I think that I would telephone or email first to make sure that plants are available and to find out when shipping will occur. On June 21st, 2007, doss changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following:
I still recommend calling ahead to find out if plants are available before you order. If you do this I think the quality of the plants is top notch. I found a very rare plant there that I had been seeking for quite some time.
Great plants at decent prices, well-packaged, large and healthy on arrival. Service was also excellent and quick. Received a bonus plant of Johnny Jump Up and fell in love. Joy Creek moves to my top five online nurseries!
We just received our order and are very pleased with the quality of the plants. They arrived from the west coast to the east coast in perfect shape. The Miscanthus were larger plants for a better price than we have received from other mailorder sources.

I just received my first order from JoyCreek and was very impressed with the packaging, quality, and size of plants. I paid a high price for their exclusive new Miscanthus, but it was well worth it. They were out of one item on my list, but I received an email right away telling me this. Also, they don't charge you shipping until the order is actually sent out. Order early in the season, because they sell out fast!

It's a pleasure doing business with this company. Low prices, extra-prompt service, and large, healthy plants. In fact, the plants were so nice that I placed a second order as soon as the first arrived.

Joy Creek Nursery is one of the best nuseries I have purchased from ~ both mail-order and on-site! The very knowledgable staff is both friendly and helpful. The plants are healthy, large and priced very fairly. The selection is amazing...I always love curling up with a cup of coffee, a highlighter pen, a good plant encyclopedia - and a couple of uninterrupted hours when their new catalog comes! A+++

Top-notch source - especially for clematis. I have ordered three or four times. Shipping is kind of high to NY but that's a problem with most. Customer service is excellent. Plant quality and packing is great. On my A list.

I ordered late in the season and some of the plants were DOA. I called and they promptly send new ones and refunded for plants they did not have. Great company, great customer service. Great catalog.
I ordered a specfic honeysuckle. I was advised that a single plant might be a little expensive due to the handling charge, so I added several grasses as this was the last honeysuckle available. They arrived promptly in great shape in spite of being shipped from Oregon to Ohio! They are in the ground and doing fine!

One of the few places to offer Epimedium x warleyense, at about a third of what Plant Delights asked. The price AND the size were right! Packed very well, and in great shape.
I also ordered Helleborus argutifolius "Janet Starnes" - difficult to find and in those cases where I found it, sold out. The price, again, was right and the plants were nice, medium-sized specimens. I have no doubt they'll bulk up like my other hellebores. My Helleborus x sternii was even larger.
I ordered over the phone and found the guy that helped me very pleasant and, well, helpful!
I will definitely consider them again in the future!

Just received my 1st order from Joy Creek, 2 "Parade" climbing roses. Excellent quality own root rose bushes were sent, and fast! The service was wonderful and the packing was just great. Very pleased with my first order, I am sure I will order from Joy Creek again. Now comes trying to decide where to put them! Many Thanks.
Ordered two clematis from Joy Creek and was VERY impressed! Good root systems, healthy top growth (I had blooms within a week!), amazing selection that includes many hard to find clematis, and very fast shipping. To top it all off, their customer service was excellent and I plan to order from them again soon.
I have ordered from Joy Creek several times, as well as from several other companies. I keep going back to Joy Creek since they provide superior, larger plants, they pack them perfectly, they arrive on time and in great condition, and they are extremely knowledgable and helpful on email and on the phone.

I few days ago I ordered from Joycreek for the first time. Today I already received the order and am very impressed. I ordered several Diascia plants which I have been unable to find in my town, except for the one I found by chance in local nursery and it was the only one they had. The plants were very well wrapped, arrived undamaged and are extremely health looking. They are nicer than I dared hope for. I will definitley order from them again.
Ordered for the first time from them last fall. I was very happy with the clematis quality: large, mature plants at fair prices. Joy Creek will be my first choice in future clematis purchases.

Excellent Plants! I ordered clematis from them three times this year. I received healthy large plants. They ship 3 day UPS. They always include a gift plant. I got 2 free hellebores and a dianthus.
This is an excellent small nursery with a particular emphasis on Clematis. They have many unusual species and varieties. Their plants are healthy and vigorous and are packaged and labeled well. I always check their catalog first before ordering from somewhere else. I love this nursery!
Joy Creek is an excellent nursery. They are the first place I go for Clematis varieties -- both large flowered hybrids and species. They have a great selection of other plants at very good prices. This is one of the three nurseries that I order from every year.
The 99-page catalog of unique and unusual plants is just $2.00. I've ordered from them and visited the nursery's retail operation. Helpful staff, good strong and correctly named plants, and a wonderful variety of plant material.
