Several weeks ago, I ordered two clematis vines from Joy Creek. I was so pleased with every aspect of my experience with them that I ordered two more to arrive this week. The root systems on the vines were awesome, the entire staff I spoke with were extremely friendly and knowledgable, and the service was fantastic. Maurice took a lot of time on the phone with me in answering all of my questions relating to planting the vines. He even suggested varieties that might do well in my area. I will definitely order from them again in the future.

I ordered a dozen plants from this nursery this spring. The website was easy to use. The communications were great. The plants arrived in a very reasonable amount of time. The plants were very carefully packaged and clearly labeled. The plants were healthy and all but one are doing very well. I also found the shipping costs to be very low. Would definitely order from them again.
So happy to of found this company. Ordered several different plants I couldn't locate elsewhere. Plants are exceptional, packing was wonderful. They are thriving in their new home. I will definitely keep this company on my favorites!

I just recently received my order of hardy fuschias from Joy Creek and they are beautiful. Some are in bloom already! They were out of stock on a couple I ordered, but it is late in the season and what I got are wonderful. I will definitely order from them again. Thanks Joy Creek!! Herbalgal

A very positive experience, ordered 6 Clematis from them that I couldn't find anywhere else (alas one wasn't in stock) - and wowser, the sizes are fantastic! I called right before they were shipping the original order for an add-on, great customer service and very helpful!

All I can say is "SUPER!" Joy Creek Nursery cares about quality service and their customers. Maurice went above and beyond to locate a very rare and difficult to find plant item I was looking for and I couldn't have been more delighted with his attention to detail and professionalism. My first order of plants arrived damaged, however, once I contacted him to alert him of the problem he promptly replaced my plant order with new, healthy and expertly packaged plants. Beautiful! Thanks, Maurice! If you are seeking a highly caring and integral retail nursery that prides itself on exceptional customer service and plants, I highly recommend Joy Creek Nursery.

Good selection, nice healthy plants, good communication. My only complaint: They offer too many things I want. I had to spend several hours with the catalog deciding. Oh, if everything in life were that difficult!

It was a pleasure dealing with Joy Creek Nursery. I ordered from Canada, and they were very accommodating, keeping me well informed about the necessary phytosanitary certificate and costs, as well as shipping. They were very helpful in answering my questions.
I purchased two clematis and they arrived in 1 gal pots in nice shape. I planted them and they have since done very well indeed. What a fantastic selection, especially Clematis. Easy online ordering and catalogue.

I've ordered from Joy Creek once or twice and was very happy with the plants. They've got a great selection of plants, and they arrived beautiful and healthy.
I recently ordered a viburnum: the plant was big and healthy, the packing was great, and the customer service was great also. Outstanding!! I will order from Joy Creek again. A+
I have read reviews about this company before ordering and I must say, I have to rate them positive. Just received my order today, 4/26/07, and the plants were not only packaged superb, but the plants I ordered were phenominal. They arrived in nice size containers and all three looked so healthy that I could tell what the heck each thing was. Some mail order companies have to mark the plant for me to figure out what I ordered.
I don't like this company's policy of adding the shipping cost when plants are mailed, instead of in the initial order cost, but I am willing to put up with that inconvenice as long as the company continues to send great plants. I am looking at the catalog as we speak to place more orders!
On August 31st, 2007, Debbio added the following:
I am in zone 7 and was landscaping a client's garden. I some time have to result to mail ordering to obtain plants that are difficult to obtain in my area. I had ordered from Joy Creek before and was always pleased with their selection of plants, as well as the size the company sent their their customers.
I ordered four Hakonechloa macra, 'Aureola'. It planted in my client's landscaping. One grass did not look like the Aureola, but we thought we would try to make it work. When the grasses became a little larger, my client was not pleased with the obvious difference, I assured her I would contact the company.
Connie at Joy Creek was accommodating and so willing to help. They immediately sent me a replacement without any hesitation. When we received it and were pleased with condition and size. I can not say enough about this company, but grrrrrreat customer service and woooonderful plants. I read some comments where patrons felt the plants were a little expensive. Remember, you get what you pay for. They get a AAAA++++ in my book and they have two customers for life!!
This company sends very nice quality plants for the price charged. The Euonymus 'Blondy' were larger than expected in quart size pots (wrapped in plastic) and the Fuchsias were individually staked and carefully wrapped and packaged. The shipping charges were considerable however (44% of the plant total!) but the 11 plants ordered averaged about $10.75 each including shipping to Northern New England.

I just ordered for the first time - the plants are really top notch and were packaged beautifully. They even sent an email to see if I wanted to come pick them up (I'm fairly close) and save on shipping, I thought that was very thoughtful. However, I did have them shipped and they are no worse the wear for it. Definitely order from again !!
On March 1, Joy Creek sent me the most beautiful plants. The ten clumps of Acorus calamus were huge! I potted them into trade gallon containers, and the roots will completely fill the pot in a couple of weeks. I also ordered some Carex and some Salvia which were plump and healthy and have really taken off.

I ordered 4 clematis last year from them and I was very impressed. It was great to see a pot that was full of roots and a nicely matured plant in good condition. Many other clematis suppliers send seedlings and a lot of dirt.
I did not like that you do not get to see the shipping charges until the order ships.
Also could use more pictures on the web site and the printed catalog. Navigation on the website could be better. Its more effort to order from them and is not conducive to impulse buying (my favorite kind!)
Great experience. I ordered 2 Sambucus Racemosa "Sutherland Gold" and they are small but healthy. The clems I got also arrived looking great (Odoribe, Venosa Violacea, Arabella). Friendly people who know a lot about plants, the plants look great and very reliable.
I ordered a couple dozen plants from Joy Creek. They were received on time as promised. The plants were really wonderful and well packed. They seemed to have little difficulty establishing in my garden, hundreds of miles away from their nursery. I also had the opportunity to visit the nursery. What a delight. The display gardens are an inspiration. I'd order from them again.

I ordered 5 perennials and 1 rose. My ordered was processed quickly and my plants arrived in a couple of days. The plants were of good size and very healthy. Each plant came in a lg. band which was wrapped in saran and newspaper. Not a leaf out of place! I would surely order from Joy Creek again.

They have a fabulous collection of plants, I don't think I've ever seen more types of clematis in one catalog. I ordered two lavender plants from them, arrived well packed and in good shape. They kept me well updated with both estimated and actual delivery date, and I'll be buying from them again.

I received my order from Joy Creek today and was totally impressed! The careful packaging was the best I've ever seen...and I get A LOT of plants delivered to my home! The customer service was excellent and their prices were more than fair. The hardy fucshias were an especially good deal at only $5 each. I highly recommend buying with this merchant.
I ordered three Daphne from this wonderful nursery at Sep 13th from Ottawa, Canada, the next day got an email concerned my weather is not good for Daphne and asked me to reconsider again. It's always great somebody will think in your shoes. I replied back and told them I am growing them indoors. Then the next day I got another email with a computer generated invoice with very detailed information. The price is unbeatable, I live in Canada, so I have to have a phytosanitary certificate, and I am surprised that they only charge 10 dollars, the TopTropical will charge 80, well that's the best deal I ever made. Then I got another email the next day said the state inspector was scheduled on Sep 16th and the ship date to be Sep 19th. Well, that's really amazed me, I hope that Canadian Government could work this well. On Sep 19th, I got another email said that my order was shipped and with another beautiful invoice in PDF format with very detailed information, the shipping only cost me 27 dollars, you have to know that I live in Canada and this is an express mail, I ordered two bare rooted plants from another nursery, they charged me 80 dollars for shipping.
By tracking the package, the plants arrived to the Customs at Sep 21th. On Sep 26th, I got the package, I am truely impressed by Joy Creek service, the package and everything is so professionally packaged and everything clearly marked. Joycreek deserves the number one nursery. Not only they have great plants, their service, I mean their service, like an efficient and well organized organization. They must have some CRM software installed to do this. Maurice Horn, who works in this nursery and really deserves a raise, is so patient with all my questions, the response always comes back the next morning.
In general, I highly recommend this nursery to everybody, sometimes, you really have to compare to know the difference.

Joy Creek has a wide variety of plants. Don't stop at clematis, although their clematis are great and I have been extremely pleased. Don't stop at fuchsias either. They have a large selection of ground covers, perennials, grasses and carex, on and on. Prices and shipping are reasonable.
You will have to do some hunting elsewhere on line if you need photos. They are few and far between.
They are a big help with plant selections. Be sure to ask to speak to a nursery person. I've bought from them 4 times now and I'll be back.
On May 18th, 2006, doss changed the rating from positive to neutral and added the following:
I changed the my rating from positive to neutral because the most recent things that I bought were very slow in coming. It was several weeks before they let me know that some of my plants weren't available. When contacted, the company did say that they had an unexpected crop failure. It took a very long time from ordering plants to receiving them. When the website says things are available it's sometimes not true.
Their plants are still really top notch and I will order from them again but I think that I would telephone or email first to make sure that plants are available and to find out when shipping will occur. On June 21st, 2007, doss changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following:
I still recommend calling ahead to find out if plants are available before you order. If you do this I think the quality of the plants is top notch. I found a very rare plant there that I had been seeking for quite some time.
Great plants at decent prices, well-packaged, large and healthy on arrival. Service was also excellent and quick. Received a bonus plant of Johnny Jump Up and fell in love. Joy Creek moves to my top five online nurseries!
We just received our order and are very pleased with the quality of the plants. They arrived from the west coast to the east coast in perfect shape. The Miscanthus were larger plants for a better price than we have received from other mailorder sources.

Order early in the season, because they sell out fast!

I ordered late in the season and some of the plants were DOA. I called and they promptly send new ones and refunded for plants they did not have. Great company, great customer service. Great catalog.
I ordered a specfic honeysuckle. I was advised that a single plant might be a little expensive due to the handling charge, so I added several grasses as this was the last honeysuckle available. They arrived promptly in great shape in spite of being shipped from Oregon to Ohio! They are in the ground and doing fine!

One of the few places to offer Epimedium x warleyense, at about a third of what Plant Delights asked. The price AND the size were right! Packed very well, and in great shape.
I also ordered Helleborus argutifolius "Janet Starnes" - difficult to find and in those cases where I found it, sold out. The price, again, was right and the plants were nice, medium-sized specimens. I have no doubt they'll bulk up like my other hellebores. My Helleborus x sternii was even larger.
I ordered over the phone and found the guy that helped me very pleasant and, well, helpful!
I will definitely consider them again in the future!

Ordered two clematis from Joy Creek and was VERY impressed! Good root systems, healthy top growth (I had blooms within a week!), amazing selection that includes many hard to find clematis, and very fast shipping. To top it all off, their customer service was excellent and I plan to order from them again soon.
