While this may start out with a problem it ends with flying colors... so keep reading!
I placed an order for a crepe myrtle and it was shipped. Unfortunately, when I opened the box, it had not been staked and the poor thing was broken off 1" from the dirt. I called Greenwood Nursery and left them a voice message. 48 hours later, Nancy called me and apologized and told me not to worry, they would send out a new one, and they did. It came in 4 days...was staked with a large bamboo stake, and the pot was fabulously wrapped in plastic so not a bit of dirt escaped. The baby tree was COVERED in buds, and not one was broken. I was astounded.
When you order nursery stock by mail, problems occur. At least over the years, that has been my experience. This company contacted me promptly, APOLOGIZED, and quickly replaced the item. I have never seen such great packing on the second plant... so based on my experience... they are wonderful... and I would not hesitate in the least to order from them again in the future. A very happy customer in Spring, TX
Just received my latest order from Greenwood Nursery and am again super happy with my order! The adagio grasses arrived in environmentally friendly packaging(love that!) and are a beautiful addition to my yard. Being a new homeowner, the staff, esp. Brenda, have been a HUGE help when I call with questions about what should go where, recommendations, & proper care of plants. The knockout roses I ordered about 4 years ago are now over 5ft tall and 6ft wide!! They truly are knockouts!! I highly recommend Greenwood Nursery as they are my go-to for all things plants. They always exceed my expectations!
I bought two bare root gingko trees. I was doubtful at first, but the one, which was planted well is doing marvelously. After just a few weeks it has many leaves and looks very happy. The other was planted too low and in a swampy spot and is struggling.
I was pleasantly surprised at the results and will probably buy from Greenwood Nursery again.
I ordered a Harry Lauder's Walking Stick and paid a nominal price for it! I'm so happy with this plant. I ordered the same thing from Farmer's Seed, and paid more money, only to have it come in a sad dormant state with a 3" stick. The one Greenwood sent was healthy looking, in a trade gallon container, with at least 15" of tree with branches and leaves; appropriate for this time of year. I dont understand sending dormant plants at/above live plant prices at this time of the year.
Besides the excellent condition of the plant, I wanted to comend them for their shipping practices. The plant shipped successfully in shredded brown paper, which I was able to compost. Thank you for not sending packing peanuts and an overabundance of plastic!!! This was the most memorable thing about this company. I ordered from many online nurseries and found this to be the best, and most responsible, method of shipping. Thanks!!
I was looking for a rose hedge and found Greenwood Nursery online. I was inquiring about Rosa rugosa varieties and Cheryl suggested Rosa Hansen for a living fence. I am so grateful I took her advice and that I came across Greenwood nursery! The prices were so reasonable and the rose hedge went from bare root plants to a full on flowering hedge in 18 months. It is stunning! Tall, beautiful, and tons of flowers. I will definitely shop here again. In addition, their customer service is tops! They promptly answer questions and have great advice - obviously!!

I am totally happy with my first purchase from Greenwood Nursery. I ordered 5 fragrant honeysuckle plants and promptly received 6, all with either buds or leaves or both. They're in the ground and growing already :) Oh, and I was very impressed with the care the nursery took in packaging - nice, recyclable shredded paper. Kudos - I'll be back!!

I received my white Rose of Sharon shrub (Hibiscus Diana) this week~ April 27, 2013~and I am VERY impressed! I have wanted one of these shrubs for quite awhile; they have a large white blossom that stays open over-night!
The shrub arrived in a 5 ft long box. The Rose of Sharon was much larger than I expected. It had 9 branches on the trunk! I was expecting the shrub to be small; this one was well over 4 ft; I think it will bloom this summer.
Fantastic customer service -- Ordered 3 ea. of 3 varieties thornless blackberries (one was Triple Crown) a week ago. After reading more about the Triple Crown, contacted them by EMail and phone and asked for a substitution. and they agreed. Shipment arrived in 2 or 3 days and included 2 orders of the Triple Crown and only one of the other two. Called them immediately and after their apology said to just keep the 2 Triple Crowns and they would ship the intended ones soon -- they arrived the next day.
Very pleased with my experience with Greenwood nursery. I order 30 plants last spring from Greenwood which they sent on time and were recieved looking ok, but none of the bareroot shrubs every budded. I think during shipping they were overheated. But Greenwook nursery stood by their product and sent me a replacement order this fall when the plants had gone dorment again. The plants they sent were excellent quality and size. The roots were very fresh and abundant fiberous. It is pleasure to do business with a company that stands behind their product and looking forward to this spring when I can order more plants from them Doug
I first received an order from Greenwood Nursery, planted and was disappointed in the outcome. I let them know the outcome of my planting, and to my pleasant surprise they said they would send me another shipment at no charge to replace the plants I lost. I was still skeptical, however they came through. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense they went to in order for me to be satisfied with them. You can bet I will use them in the future, this is what everyone wants from someone you deal with. First rate company as far as I'm concerned.

I recently ordered Vinca Major periwinkle and Weigela from this nursery. I have ordered from several different mail order nurseries and in general have had good results. With Greenwood, I was totally impressed with the customer service received from Cheryl & Brenda regarding the shipping and follow-up. The packaging done on these items was the best that I have ever seen for plants of this size. Also the size and quality of the plants that I received seem fantastic. I will try and issue a follow-up next Spring after they go through the Winter and let you know how they seem to be then. From the looks of them though I expcect great results.

I ordered some hibiscus plants from Greenwood. They were shipped as advertised but my state held them up for "inspection". By the time they got to me they were very dry. I tried TLC but it wasn't working. I sent an email to ask if there was a guarantee. Cheryl responded the next business day and explained the delays and told me she was shipping new plants out. Within 3 days I had very healthy new plants. I've planted them and am hoping for the best. I was very pleased by their customer service. A rare quality these days. THANK YOU

This is the email I sent Greenwood Nursery a few days ago...I got a nice response back from them. I would definitely order from them again!
We are very pleased with the Sedum Dragon's Blood Red that we purchased last fall. My daughter was wanting ground cover along her sidewalk. When it arrived she was not really prepared to put it in the ground as I had gotten it for her birthday; but she put them in anyway. She got the area ready very quickly and we put them in the ground. Nothing else was done to them all winter. This spring we cleaned the weeds and grass out of the area and every plant had survived! They are now mulched and seem to be growing. When the plants get a little larger and start covering the area better, I will send you a picture. I really liked the plants and plan to order more plants from your company...!
I am writing to let you know how happy and impressed I am with this company. Their packaging is by far the best I've ever seen in mail order plants...and believe me, Iíve order from almost every site out there!! Everything was beyond my expectations. Decently-sized, healthy plants, fantastic root system, superior package and very attractive prices. Kudos. They have me for life!
We have ordered several fruit trees and also day lilies from this nursery... everything has been as advertised & better... in fact, we had a landscaper do our property at a very hefty price when we first moved here and almost 50% of what he planted died. Everything we have purchased from Greenwood has thrived, they have a 100% record and their planting instructions were helpful as we are non-gardeners. I have found them more than willing to offer great service and helpful advice and have also benefited from their Utube videos. I would recommend this nursery highly.

I placed my first order with this company last week for:
10 Hansen Hedge Rose
6 Dappled Nishiki Willow
I recieved email confirmation of my order and a 10% member discount as I joined their email/newsletter club.
So far,my experience has been positive and I will update upon recieving the plants that I ordered.

My Hanson Hedge Roses grew nicely this year and even popped out some pretty flowers. My Dappled Nishiki WIllow were growing nicely as of the coming of cold weather. It is still be be seen how well these winter over.
I ordered english ivy. It is the best quality live plant I have ever gotten from an online order. The packing was perfect. There was no loose dirt or broken stems. The roots were strong. I have gotten over 100 plants online and these are by far the best quality. When my wife saw them she said to order whatever I wanted from Greenwood.

My order from Greenwood Nursery for plants and fertilizer packs arrived yesterday. I opened the box today and was amazed at how well everything was packed and how green, healthy, and wonderful the plants are! I have never had such a perfect shipment from past mail-orders from other companies. I will definitely order from you again next spring for my Maine cottage perennial garden.

I purchased a Nishiki Willow in tree form approx three weeks ago. I arrived quickly and packaged well. The red flag came up when the the single branch had absolutely no leaves or sprouts along t.. It was very dry and the very small twigs toward the top were brittle and broke off easily. I don't understand why you would even ship this? Pretty much dead on arrival! Since than it has failed to grow despite my careful attention to it. I've emailed them for a response and resolution twice without a reply and just emailed again to ask for a fair resolution. It was my very first order so at this point it would be difficult to order again until they replace the poor stock sent. I want to change my experience rating but so far I feel ignored. I will update when I hear from Greenwood Nursery.

Got a reply similar to the other negative reviewers. When looking for a vendor pick one that offers a "no hassle" or "unconditional money back" These folks don't want to refund or replace the bad stock sent. Too many "hoops" to jump. I have done the "scratch test" they request like others were told to do and sent a picture of the tree in question.....no reply. Not sure if its worth fighting over the thirty dollars! There are many many companies out there that treat the customer with respect and listen to their needs and concerns. My experience tells me to shop elsewhere. On June 16th, 2011, dansb changed the rating from negative to positive and added the following:
I was given a refund as the tree I ordered was out of stock. Don't quite understand them shipping "dormant" stock but thats how they do it.
I bought kew (red) lavender from Greenwood. I was amazed when I received them..their packaging was by far the best I've ever seen in mail order plants! Shipping time and costs were very reasonable also. I would defintely recommend them to anyone. Great company with very nice people!!

I have been ordering from Greenwood Nursery for several years and couldn't be more pleased with the results. For example, I ordered 6 Nishiki Willows which arrived quickly as bare-root plants. Planted them in the fall of 2009 and my husband proclaimed them dead soon after but as he is not a gardener, I ignored him. The following spring they leafed out beautifully and this spring I have an outstanding and compliment-generating 8 ft hedge. I've ordered knockout roses and barberries in the past and have an order placed for more Nishiki willows and reubekias this spring. The service and quality are excellent; their bonus plants, a treat; their prices, outstanding!
I ordered 2 burning bushes, tree form and 3 red kew lavender plants from Greenwood Nursery. About 3 weeks later my order arrived in pristine condition. All plants were wrapped very well and with care. The trees are beautiful, one a bit more than the other, but both lovely. The trees have now been planted for a couple of weeks and are doing beautifully. The lavender plants are doing great too. The best online nursery I have ordered from!

I ordered four "Princeton" American Elms on Saturday, 10/14. Trees arrived today with standard shipping - that alone impressed me, since I have never seen turnaround on trees like that before. I will be moving to a new property soon and plan on planting them there. The packaging was about the best I've seen, with the pots securely wrapped to prevent the soil from coming out and plastic airbags were used to keep everything in place. The trees arrived in great shape. Great first-time experience with these people and there will surely be many more for me.
On March 29th, 2007, SteveFtWorth added the following:
Well I am pleased to say all of my Princeton Elms are sprouting (though I wish I had ordered the gallon size!), and my other orders of Thujas/Arborvitaes and fruit trees/Bradford Pears appear to be doing very well. Only one cherry and the three fruiting pears have not sprouted, but it's still early. I am very pleased again with the quality and the healthy appearance of the plants. I just ordered some more stuff from them this week!On May 6th, 2011, SteveFtWorth added the following:
An update four years later.....all three of my fruiting pears have pears on them right now and one in fact (Moonglow), while maybe 10 feet tall, has 75-100 pears on it as write this, without exaggeration. Hopefully they will make it to ripeness as I believe the squirrels got them all last year before they got any size to them :-) My four Princeton elms are all still alive and very healthy - two of them have not gotten very large (maybe 7 feet) while one is about 15 feet tall and the fourth over 20 feet! Pretty impressive for trees <2 feet tall upon arrival after just four years. I believe the differences are due to spotty soil conditions in my yard. I am very pleased with the health and vigor of these trees as well as rapid growth and development. If I need more trees this year I will definitely consider Greenwood again as a great source. The Bradford pears I ordered are also thriving. Cherry trees didn't make it but I am sure it is something I did (all of them were in the same area), and to have the success I have had I'm very happy.

I'd been eyeing a red rocket crape myrtle for some time and finall decided to buy one from Greenwood Nursery. I was expecting a stick with no branches or leaves. I was MORE than pleasantly surprised to receive a tree with leaves and branches, packaged gently with no damage!
More amazingly I have paid up to $50.00 at other websites for trees which were literally sticks with nothing on them when they arrived.
My Greenwood Nursery crape myrtle was BEAUTIFUL! They sent a gorgeous specimen and it only cost me $19.95.
Great job and I've recommended their nursery to many of my friends looking for crape myrtle trees.
The Burning Bushes arrived in early January in very good condition. Packaging was great! There were not enough of the small bushes so my order was completed with the larger bushes - very much appreciated. I will order from them again.
This is my first time to order bareroot plant. It was surprisingly pleasing and time efficient. Out of the 150 I needed approximately 125 for the project. The plants have been in the ground about 2 months and are doing great with the exception of 5 or so but that ok as I plant the excess in an area where I can replace these few plants. As I had to plant quickly, the failing plants were probably do to my method as the plants were healthy when received. I'm also surprised with how well the 5 butterfly bushes are doing. Before ordering I communicated several times with Greenwood Nursery by email & phone the customer service was excellent. My biggest concern was being home to receive the plants and having the site plant ready. They did a great job with that process.
My experience with Greenwood Nursery was very pleasant. I received my order in a good time frame. Everything ordered was moist and very healthy looking. No disappointment here. I highly recommend Greenwood Nursery!!!
My orders have been more than expected with helpful on-line suggestions about how to get ready for the order and questions answered promptly. Extra items seem to be part of every package providing me with new gardening ideas for the freebies. My trees have been green (green giants) and healthy and I have planted them in our "temporary" garden while awaiting final plans with no problems whatsoever. I am a happy Greenwood customer!
Hi, I can not begin to tell you what great experiences I have had with Greenwood Nursery. Since we found Greenwood Nursery on the Internet we have the most beautiful garden in the neighborhood and did it all on our own with shipping right to our door, how simple! We are so very impressed with the shipping of the plants and trees and they are healthier than the plants and trees we were purchasing from a local nursery. Not only that but they are spectacular, including the trees. We even had a time when we didn't get to plant our trees and plants until probably three weeks after they arrived and I thought for sure they wouldn't make it, but THEY DID and are thriving beautifully! We get so many compliments, people driving and walking by actually stop to ask about our garden and where we buy our plants...etc. We have passed on the internet address of Greenwood Nursery. My husband is even harder to impress than I am and he can't believe how healthy the plants and trees are and he is very happy with all of our purchases! Not to mention how helpful Brenda has always been with our orders when we want to make changes prior to shipping...and all of the helpful tips...free plants and gloves and sometimes even free shipping which is incredible. I can't say enough positive things about Greenwood, FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!! AA++++++
