I'm a "new" gardener coming up on the 1yr anniversary of buying my first home. Tired of looking at my bare yard and on a tight budget, I looked for something cheap to help start my landscaping. I found Michigan Bulb. I placed my 4th order with them this morning and so far, I've been very pleased with them. Their website is incredibly easy to navigate, discounts abound and the plants I've received were well-packaged and healthy. I got my first order about 4 weeks ago and the growth is simply amazing. No better way to boost a beginning gardener's confidence than seeing your plants more than double in size in 4 weeks. Although I'm sure the climate helped (Savannah, GA), it's only further inspired me. I purchased several types of plants, including hydrangeas, butterfly bushes, lilac, rhododendron, hostas, grasses, hens, foxgloves...the only "bad" plant I had was the Liriope I ordered. It was dried out when it arrived, but I planted it anyway and then it just went kaput. The really great thing was, after giving it sufficient time to thrive, I emailed MB and they immediately issued an order for more, no questions asked. I don't expect miracles. They are plants after all. So if a few don't make it, I'm happy to know that MB will replace it. That's just good customer service. In any case, I noticed in many of the reviews of the plants on their website, there were several complaints about size or things arriving as "sticks". For this price, I wasn't expecting much, but I am truly amazed at how well, and quickly, everything has grown. My hostas, for example, arrived as lumpy potato-looking things with roots. Planted them and after only a few days, green leaf "spikes" were up out of the ground. Now, my pots are filled with big green bouquets of leaves. That's satisfying.

I have used this company many times in the past with no issues. This year I ordered a number of tuberous begonias bulbs. These bulbs are not inexpensive for the average gardener. When they arrived I found a few of them had rotted to the core with mold. Of some 15 bulbs 4 or them had rot. I emailed them on a Sunday and Monday morning they advised a complete reship - more than I expected as I would have been happy with them replacing the 4 bad bulbs. No, ship it back to us, No hassel, Prompt service by Kelly in customer service. A reason to go back.

Sorry for the late update. But that is how long it took for me to give an accurate review. The first year of receiving the order the plants did not do very well (some of them died) others barely grew. However, from second year they have bloomed beautifully. So I can honestly say that 90% of my plants have survived and doing well after experiencing Michigan winter. Looks like I will be placing another order this year (will post another review based on the experience). Thank you Michigan Bulb for your prompt reply.

So, I ordered some Honeyberries and a couple of Goji berries since they both are usually fairly pricey, I noticed a box that said I got $20 off a $40 order so I ordered some blueberries to get it just above $40. My total dropped to just over $20. I had some difficulty getting the order finished because the website had some kind of issues with my credit card. I tried again a couple of hours later and was successful. I received an order confirmation email and later another with a shipping window of May 28 to June 28. A couple of days later, I got an email saying part of my order had shipped. A day later, I got an email saying that the rest had shipped. Three days later, I checked the UPS tracking number and saw that both packages had been delivered to the Post Office. I entered a different ship to address so I don't understand why they shipped to my bill to address. I went to the P.O., got the plants and they look very nice. I don't remember a size being specified. The Gojis were pretty small and a little wilted, the Honeygerries were maybe 5" high and healthy looking. The Blueberries were maybe 14" tall and nice and green. The small "Biopots" made planting easy. As of May 26, all have been planted. Since the plants were healthy looking upon arrival, I wouldn't try to get them replaced if they should happen to die later. About all I can say is that so far, Michigan Bulb has provided satisfactory service and , on sale items, very good pricing. Where else can you get Honeyberries for $3.99?

Yes, the plants are small, but so healthy and beautiful. We are very pleased and look forward to watching our little babies grow. We have many more orders to go still and I am expecting nothing less than great. This company helped us get the great garden we always deamed of, for the price our wallets could afford. update: I looked at my shipping information. I may have been too harsh on Michigan Bulb. My first two orders were mailed by 4/19/2012. I ordered them at the end of March. In the weeks between ordering and shipment, the expected ship date fluctuated between 4/12/2012 and 4/23/2012.
My Third Order was placed around 4/1/2012 and they mailed it on 4/30/2012.
My last order was placed on 4/27/2012 and is waiting to be shipped. Expected ship date alternates between 5/12 and 5/20.
I'm going to change my rating to positive - with the exception of the blue moon hydrangeas and the hardy geraniums that seem to be dead or dying.

I am adding to this because after my bad experience with The Growers Exchange. I bought my replacement plants from Michigan Bulb. The lavender I got from the other company was so tiny, but the one I got from Michigan bulb was 5 times bigger and it is doing great. I bought two roses that were green and are doing great also. I also replaced the dill that the other company sent that died. So now my herb garden is complete and I am already using some for cooking. This company has been my go to company for years and you cannot go wrong with them. I know the shipping dates changing can be frustrating but you are not ordering some toy or electronic. These are living plants and have to shipped at the right time to make sure they get to you in good health. Those of you bitching about the bare root plants. Do you even know what a "bare root" plant is? What are you expecting? a plant like you buy at a local nursery? Most people buy from company's like Michigan bulb because of the prices but are expecting the same as they get for double the price at a nursery. The customer that made a negative comment because he is the only one in the subdivision that is not done with his landscaping because his whole order did not ship at the same time! REALLY! You ordered on line if you wanted everything all at once you should have gone to a local nursery, & paid double to get all of your stuff at the same time.

I'm sure there are exceptions (as there always is) but the whole point of Michigan Bulb is that they won't ship you a plant unless it is ready to be planted in your particular zone. So you can go ahead and order in December but if the plant isn't ready it's still not going to get shipped until it's ready. Anything potted was lush, green and larger than I had expected based on other reviews. All the bulbs were neatly packaged and the bareroots were already growing with leaves bright and green and healthy. The roots that were visable are not dry at all and look very healthy. The box was tidy and packaged in a way that nothing was shaken up or sliding around. I couldn't have been happier with what I got. I received prompt confirmation of order placement and shipping, was able to easily track the order on its way thereby knowing exactly when to expect it to be delivered. Now wether or not everything grows nicely over the next few years is yet to be seen but I will try to remember to update my review in the future.

In March we ordered a bunch of plants among which was the Endless Bloom Perennial Garden. Again, the delivery dates kept changing from April, May, and even June. However, we got our Garden yesterday. All the plants were carefully packed and most important, they were all beautiful! Looked like they never travelled in the box - potted plants had luscious green leaves and those that came in the sealed bags (bareroot) had little leaves. We are very impressed with the quality of the plants, especially taking into account that they are quite young. This is our second batch of the ordered plants and of exceptional quality. We planted them today and looking forward to enjoying them in the years to come. We will update our review again since we have one more garden to receive soon. In the meanwhile, we would like to mention how professional the customer service is, the plants are always packed nicely, and the plants themselves are healthy and beautiful. I put in another largish order with Michigan Bulb this year and was very pleased overall with the plants I received. It's true that the plants tend to be small and that you won't know when they are coming until they have been shipped, but I still think the value for money is really good. Almost all my plants came out of the box looking happy and well-rooted this time; the bareroot plants all had visible growth, and all have sprouted happily since I planted them.

Still love this company. Got a 50% off everything offer today and bought a ton of plants. Cannot wait to get them and put them in the ground to watch them grow. I'm not particularly worried about ship date. I'm patient, and I understand that the plants have to be ready to ship before they can send them to me. I also understand that it's first come first serve and if the harvest isn't what it should be, I might not get my plants. I'm not worried that the plants are bare root. I consider it a challange to get these babies to grow. And when they do...Wow! And when they don't, I contact Michigan Bulb and they send me new ones.
I think people who want instant gratification from online nurseries need to just buy their plants at big box stores. Bareroot plants usually need a little babying. You can't just plant them and forget them (though I've done that with success before...).

I am impressed with how quickly the plants came. I ordered from Springhill Farms a week earlier but Michigan Bulbs actually came first. I ordered mostly tubers but the small Ketchup and Mustard rose bush had no damage at all. It is healthy color and about 6 inches tall. The Beacon Silver I received was small and had some dark leaves on the edges. I just got it so I am not sure how it will fair later on. I will re-post if any of the plants die or do not seem up to standard. But over all I like how cheap and how quick this company runs!

Looks not really good, yellow brown leaves and skinny stem, looks very sick and no pretty at all.....I send email to customer service with its pics, My family do not want that stevia, may be return for refund or replace with another thing. We do not want ugly pot plant like that in the house.... period .... not as we image at all....
I will wait a couple days for the result and come back with another addition review...

Just got a Cherry bareroot, So impressed. it does have some leaves from buds already when I opened the box. For The Citrus still looks good. The stevia plant that looks so sick still looks so sick, doesn't look any better yet. I try to be patient follow the book they provided. Hopefully it will not going to die. After the Grape give some leaves or with next 4-6 weeks I will come back for telling how the plants look. This is not a week yet after I planted them. :) so far, the plants those came, are good size. Now I will give them times. Hope they are growing well. So in the next few year I will have a little fruit garden around the desk.

What is the great size of planter for Dwarf orane item no. 66622 and lime tree 66621? Mine both plants leves turn a bit yellow and look like need some extra care like a bigger pot? My plastic pot now are 12" height and deep and have drain hole. The plants both are about 6" from the soil.
Pros: I really reccomend Grape seedless concord, it grow fast and keep growing, I got a tiny flowers but they did not turn to be fruits and fall out. :) I don't expect fruit or grape after plant first season. So it is a bonus for me to see tiny flowers within a month. This is so amazing.
For Nanking Cherry, The wood stem that has yellow leaves. The leaves all dried and fall off, scared me at first :)) but it did grow right back from root made a new tender green stem with 10s leaves about 5-6" tall already, but will have to wait to become a bush, it grow slower than grape. :) Never mind. :D because it look like it has very strong root systems.
Cons: My dwarf orange tree and lime leaves turn a bit yellow. I am afraid to kill them. Customer service is available even after 5 pm, and I have not to wait to get a representative on phone, this is very great!
But I Called customer service asking the planter size for dwarf lime and orange, He told me that the full size of Orage and lime tree need 4' at least diameter and 6-9" height. I said Thak you and hung up politely BUT that sounds like a pound for a fish. O.o
Reccomend to provide the pot size for the mature plant in the information, I don't blame customer service because I did not know everything in the company that I work either. And I think it would be nicer if when the customer service do not know the answer should ask for customer email or ID to contact back for a right answer. I want a right answer not guessing.

The Nanking Cherry already have green leaves for 2 weeks. But no sign of life back for Blue Concord Seedless Grapes yet. My neighbor has a Blue Concord grape vine that lots of green leaves already. When I can expected the green leaves or sign of life for this vine?

The grapes annual growth cycle in the spring with bud break. In the Northern Hemisphere begins around March while in the Southern Hemisphere it begins around September when daily temperatures begin to surpass 50 degrees. The Flat and Wonderful Peach is out of stock for the year. It depends how old the roots are how long it will take. If your roots are two years old they produce the next season.
