I ran a co-op with Buried Treasures as our vendor spring 2009. This was a rather large co-op and Buried Treasures was shipping direct to the buyers. Unfortunately something went wrong in the shipping part, and some of the orders were not shipped out. Myself and the other co-op members sent several emails, dmails and made many, many phone calls with no response from the company for over a month. When the company finally responded, they gave no reason for the mishap or for ignoring our calls and letters. I personally am satisfied with the product, but greatly unsatisfied with the business practices of the company.

Chris responded saying that they send the plants to the wrong address so i sent them my address but still did not get the plants. I e-mailed them again for the 3rd time but did not get any respond. I am not sure if what's going on with them. I'm still hoping I will get my plants or better yet return my money, its been over a month. How can they send to the wrong address I been buying all my euphorbias from them since 2007. I'm very disappointed but I'm still waiting very patiently. what's going on buried treasures?

This is my 2nd try for ordering. The 1st was through a Co-op and the delay in shipping caused me to cancel my order.
This time I ordered on my own. Placed my order on Mother's Day with a credit card. Noted that I wanted delivery "now". Got confirmation and the tracking number that evening.

Tracking number did not work.
8 days later I got "confirmation of payment received". I though I had gotten that 8 days prior. And the email stated it would take 2-3 weeks to ship. And a different order number. Neither one can be tracked on their site.

I find this very bad customer service. How can it take that long to process a shipment of 4 plants?
I can't cancel as I ordered these as a belated Mother's Day gift but I will not order from them again.

Here it is the 20th and I still don't have my package. No replies to my emails and when I called again, I find that they are out of town selling at a fair.

I'm a bit upset that they didn't ship my package before leaving to sell at a show! They had plenty of time to ship before leaving, especially after talking to them on the phone and being assured that it had ALREADY been shipped!

Hi Hermie,

I’m sorry. Your order is still in the que. I didn’t take into account a large co-op order we had going out this week, when I emailed you earlier. We didn’t ship any regular orders this week due to this co-op. We finished shipping the co-op prders yesterday, and are shipping orders tomorrow and Saturday, to catch back up. We can ship yours on Saturday, which will get it there on Monday.

I know this is your first order with us, and apologize for the less than stellar first impression. This is certainly the exception to the rule.

We’ll have them in your hand on Monday, and will send the DC number over the weekend.

Chris

Hi Hermie,

We pack on Sunday and Monday to ship on Monday and Tuesday, with the occasional Friday for the west coast. Your order came over at 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, so it was scheduled for the following week, April 6th. That would get it to you a week from today via Priority Mail.

This company had a sale on November 29 and they sent an email out to customers stating as such. I placed my order and paid within 20 minutes of the email going out. I got my order on January 14. They were swamped with orders from the sale and could not get them out in a timely manner.

Throughout many emails I was promised I would receive my order by January 1, promised it would ship on January 5, after inquiring about not getting a 'shipped notification' like promised I was told that it did in fact ship on January 5, no response when inquiring why it never arrived that week, then finally a 'shipped notification' on January 11 and arrival of my order on January 14.

It was made clear they do not pack and ship orders based on the order in which they were received but rather by location and content of the order. Considering that people with similar orders as me that lived farther away and ordered after me did get their order nearly a full month before me that makes no sense and I said as much and got more excuses as to why the order was late

While it was clear my 'patience' was 'appreciated', at no time did I ever receive a direct apology. This is the closest they came to an apology in any email

"We apologize for not being as proactive as we strive to be with our customers during the past holiday season."

At no time did I feel I was valued as a customer.

Plants did arrive well packed and with healthy roots and were well labeled. Several of the plants have mites, puckered leaves, and some have chew holes even on new leaves, I did even find a bug (I don't know what, I promptly killed it) on one plant.

Yours is the first problem with the Hibiscus arriving like that. The damp sphagnum moss that we wrap the root ball in seems to have worked for all of the others. As always, we take all feedback received, and learn ways to avoid them in the future.

I searched through all the frayed packiging papers one by one and all four corners of the shipping box and there was no $8.95 Adenium Yellow Varigated to be found hiding. Therefore, i contacted the company about 12:00 AM in hopes of waking up the "Hidden Treasure" company and let them know how disappointed that I was and the voice mail stated that they would be out and return your calls after April 23 now I am wondering does it mean april 23, in the past ,present or future because there is no return contact from the owners at this time. In adition, I left a number on the pager system this was also to no avail. I also, contacted the tele # today and left the same information.
I have sent an e-mail to voice my disappointment I want my refund including taxes or my "Adenium Yellow Varigated.
This experience has prompt me to write a short story " The midnight flower terror".
I have no intentions of ordering from this company in the future be it resolved or money spent and no plant.
Little is much and $8.95 was my earned finance to purchase the choosen items and to be this excited and disappointed at the same event is a lesson well bought by me on a one time experience.
The business to me at this time do not smell like roses but, feces.

Changing rating to Negative due to my latest and last experience with BT.

On 8/19 I received an email regarding Summerfun 25% off sale with a "shipping guarantee" which stated that all orders placed on or after 8/19 are guaranteed to ship within 10 business days or less or you receive full refund plus your original order.

8/19 I placed my order for a Miss India Adenium and paid by credit card immediately. Received confirmation email.
8/24 Received receipt of payment email
8/19-9/8 Waiting for my adenium
9/8 decided to email asking where is my plant or a tracking number
9/8 received email stating that my plant has been shipped via priority mail

9/8 email to BT asking if they were going to honor their guarantee since my plant was not sent within 10 days

9/8 received email saying they would honor their guarantee but asked if I would accept a plant of equal value in lieu of money.

9/9 I responded that I would accept a plant and stated that I would like a red wagon adenium

9/14 I received my Miss India and was not happy with the poor condition of the plant. I immediately took photos and emailed BT. I noticed that the shipping label was dated 8/26 which leaves me to believe that the plant was put in the box to be shipped on that dated but forgotten. Once looking at the condition and the lack of firmness of the caudex I am convinced that is the case.

I also noted that the postmark is stamped 9/10 not 9/8 as stated in the email.

I have heard nothing from BT since 9/8.

I contacted BT once more this week but have no hope of receiving the refund or plant they guaranteed.

My experience with Buried Treasures was negative from start to finish. I saw some appealing things on the Web site but couldn't find much information about shipping or about the size of the plants. I sent an e-mail to ask whether the items were sent as bulbs or plants. No response. I then sent an e-mail repeating the earlier question and asking whether they ship to California. Not a facetious question because many nurseries don't. I got no response.

I was so impressed by all of the positive comments in Watchdog that I ultimately placed an order, against my better judgment. The bulbs arrived promptly, but without a packing list, an invoice, or planting instructions. I e-mailed to ask about planting instructions. Some of these things were so exotic that I couldn't find planting instructions anywhere else. There was no response to that e-mail either, so I planted them in accordance with the general guidelines I've always followed in planting bulbs. That may have been incorrect, but who knows? I don't, because I never got a response.

When my credit card statement arrived, I noticed that the amount Buried Treasures had charged me was larger than the amount shown on my order form on the Web page. I could have sent an e-mail to ask why, but what would be the point?

I did finally send one last e-mail in April to ask whether these things should be showing any signs of life. I planted them in February, two days after I received them, and I planted them in pots, so I can't blame their disappearance on gophers.

Now it's almost June and I have 17 seemingly empty pots into which I deposited 26 bulbs almost three months ago. The bulbs I received from other nurseries this year are thriving.
