This nursery cares about its plants and its customers. I had been looking for a certain variety of crape myrtle ("Apalachee") and, after extensive searching, Ecolage was the only nursery I was able to find who carried it. I emailed to see if they had any remaining in stock and received a quick response that they did, indeed, still have them. I called to place my order for 3 crape myrtles. Steven Abrahams took my call and was very helpful and friendly. He tallied up my order and then asked if I had room at my place for a fourth Apalachee. Sure enough, when the plants arrived, there were 4, for the price of 3! They were strong and healthy with beautiful foliage and did not look like they had spent the past several days in a box! I am very impressed with the knowledge and customer service provided by Steven and by the crew in the shipping department, who did such a wonderful job packaging my crape myrtles.
We are very impressed with both the quality of the plants from Ecolage, and the great effort undertaken in packing and shipping our plants. Each of them arrived in perfect condition and exceeded our expectations. We will be ordering from Ecolage again soon.

I bought a Crape Myrtle and Daisy Gardinia and they are beatiful. My plants arrived in perfect condition and were larger than I expected. I am very pleased with the specific plants and the shape chosen for me. Shipping was timely and the plants were packed with care.

I discovered Ecolage when I was trying to replace my Princess Flower. Since then, I've ordered quite a bit from them. I've even talked with them for recommendations in various locations around my home. They couldn't have been more helpful and patient with me.

In the early spring of 2006, i purchased (3) dwarf crepe myrtles (tightwad). They were shipped to me in perfect condition. I was a little worried because it was still quite cold in new york city. Anyway i put them in the ground and hope for the best, knowing crepe mrytles don't do well in this part of the country. They made it through the spring and began to flourish in early summer. Then to my surpise they flowered, i did not expect them to flower in the first year. I could not be more happier then i am with steve abrahams and his ECOLAGE nursery. His plants were as good if not better than he said they would be. thank you tom starace.
I recently ordered three frostproof gardenias as a first-time online nursery stock purchaser. Everything about this transaction was PERFECT...from the information and ease of use on the website, to the email communications, through the delivery and quality of goods received. The plants arrived on the day I was informed to expect them, they were well packaged, well hydrated, and, in bud. They plants have since begun blooming and have grown approximately and inch. I look forward to purchasing from ECOLAGE again, THANKS!
I have been looking all over for the Evergreen Wisteria and was so happy to find it through Davesgarden.com. I placed the order on a Sunday and received the plant on Friday. This was the fastest transaction I've experienced with any online nursery. The plant arrived and was just amazing! It was well rooted and established and even has buds ready to bloom! I am extremely satisfied with this company, its awesome packaging, and the extreme quality of plants. Can't wait to do business with them again!

I ordered 4 plants from them in June. They arrived in wonderful condition, very well packed. All 4 plants were at least 3' tall; 2 hibiscus coccineus 'Alba', a red crossvine (over 5' in length), and a possum haw holly (4' tall). I will definitely order from them in the future!

I was looking for some fragrant plants and decided to use Ecolage after reading the comments on this forum and checking out their cool and compelling website (packed with info, nice to look at, and easy to use). Ecolage did not disappoint. The plants (3 types of gardenias and a butterfly ginger) are absolutely stunning. They arrived in superb condition, wrapped and packaged with absolute care. The plant specimens themselves are very large (not always the case with mail order) with good root systems.
In addition, Ecolage's customer service is first-rate. A UPS error caused my original package to be delayed, so they sent out another package asap. Very prompt and friendly problem resolution! Overall, this was a great online purchasing experience; I will definitely be buying from them again. Highly recommend!!
I ordered a 3 gal evergreen wisteria which I couldn't find anywhere locally. I was hesitant because of the high cost of shipping, thinking the plant would not be large enough to be worth it. I was so wrong! The plant was huge, healthy and expertly packed. I can't wait until it blooms! I will definitely order again. I order many things online and this company is definitely first rate. Just excellent.
We are very pleased with our order. It's amazing, those plants looked better fresh out of the box than they often do from the local nursery.
They're just about 18 inches tall now and are flowering! The leaves are lovely, they're almost leathery; much more beautiful than other types of crepe myrtles. We're hoping they'll thrive. Thank you! Angela/Dallas, TX

I've ordered a couple of times from this company and will do so again next spring. I've tried several others and this is the first mail order company I've dealt with that ships very healthy landscape ready plants that I would expect to see at my local garden center. The plants were very full and well branched and the order processing and shipping times were as good as anyone could hope for. I am very pleased and highly recommend them.
I ordered a crepe myrtle and african parrot gladiolus and both arrived on the date specified by Ecolage. Both were in good shape with awesome packaging! Still some moisture in the pots as well--and all the way to California. I am very happy with my order and this company. The question now, is if my green thumb is working and I can manage to keep them alive! HIGHLY recommend Ecolage!!!
I'm using as many native plants as possible in our yard and decided a Bignonia capreolata vine would be a lovely addition. However, the first two I bought last summer through the mail at another nursery were skimpy and didn't make it through the winter.
Didn't know anything about Ecolage and had my fingers crossed for good luck this spring when I called in a first time order for two B. capreolatas. They arrived a few days later beautifully packed, large and healthy.
From now on whenever possible, I'm going to use Ecolage for all my mail order plants.
I found Ecolage through the ratings here at Dave's Garden. Being a transplanted Southerner I was happy to find that they carry some old Southern favorites and I ordered a banana magnolia, evergreen wisteria, pineapple guava and a butterfly ginger.
My order arrived promptly and I was delighted to see the wonderful condition of the plants especially considering that they'd travelled from one end of the country to the other . The plants (not just the pots!) are extremely large for mail order. It's obvious that they were packed with care - the twine holding the plastic around the pots was even tied into a bow! As another poster mentioned, not one drop of soil was missing from around the roots and the soil is still nicely moist. The only suggestion for improvement I can make is to ask that they add the cultural requirements (sun exposure, soil type, water, etc.) to the packing container.
The wonderful ratings this company has received are well deserved and I can't wait to place another order. Thank you Ecolage!

I placed an order online for delivery in Texas. After a miscommunication regarding shipping, I e-mailed my concerns. I received an immediate e-mail response with a really kind explanation and all was handled. Ecolage has the BEST customer service! In fact, in this day and age of internet transactions, it's especially surprising and really rewarding to have such personal and caring service from an online seller. I highly recommend them.
After searching for a long time over Christmas and sending a few emails to several mail order nurseries, Ecolage was the only company with a prompt response. We ordered a Magnolia Stellata in February with the request to hold it back until April. The ordering process was smooth and communication throughout the process great.
We received the tree April 20th, in perfect shape. It was packaged very well, with extra care taken of the 5 gallon pot in order to keep it moist. The tree is much nicer and healthier looking then I have seen in any of the nurseries around Chicago.
I would certainly order from them again, as they seem a trustworthy company with plants in an excellent shape.
As one of the other customers in this forum mentioned, I send a ‘thank you’ email as well and most of the time you wouldn’t hear anything, but Ecolage actually took the time to send a reply to my thank you note! Very well done!
I just purchased an Arborvitae fern from Ecolage LLC.
The fern came quickly and was packed well.
It is a beautiful and well rooted plant! My communication with this company
by phone and by
e-mail ,I felt was exceptional----in every way they wanted to please their customer. In fact ,I have just placed another
order with them for an Oriental Chain Fern.

I was apprehensive about ordering plants on-line, having had a couple of not-so-great experiences in the past. I have difficulty finding unusual and dwarf varieties in my area. But Ecolage sent me some of the largest, healthiest shrubs and perennials I have seen. Their packaging was outstanding, and everything arrived in perfect condition. I will definitely order from them again. I even sent them an e-mail thanking them for their prompt shipment and great plants, and their customer service rep thanked me in return. Outstanding!
I had to move my evergreen wisteria it was 15 years old. I thought it wouldn't live so I wanted another to replace it. It blooms from early spring till it freezes in the winter and attracts hummingbirds most of the year. If it doesn't freeze here it will bloom all year. I was happy to find another, it was the only place on the web and locally I could find one. It shipped great it's in perfect condition. So was the Pineapple Guava. It's so hot here most plants I have shipped are dead when they get here. But both are in the ground and growing great. Thanks! And the other plant we moved is coming out also.
My Mathotiana Purple Dawn Camellia arrived just perfect. It was as fresh as I had picked up from the nursery. The leaves were very green and shinning. I had looked for several days for a camellia plant which produced a deep red-until it was purple. I will order again. They told me when it would arrive and it arrived just as they said.
I searched all over looking for Susan Magnolias. Ecolage had them listed, but at that time they were not available. To my surprise, a couple weeks later, they emailed me to let me know of the availability of two. I ordered them both. They arrived in separate boxes: healthy, in large pots, and well-packed (using biodegradable "peanuts"!!); one even had blooms still in place. Today I received a followup email asking how they were....one of several surprising firsts by this excellent nursery. Thanks!
I recently ordered several plants by mail. These vines were not available locally, or statewide online. Steve was knowleadgeable, friendly, and most of all , true to his word. The plants were healthy, packed perfectly, and arrived as promised. I use plenty of other online shippers, and I appreciated Ecolage's concise and friendly service. Best of all, they could ship to California! I will use them again!
ciao, Franko
Ordered two plants from Ecolage. They sent emails updating the status of my order and sent the plants very promptly. They arrived in excellant condition and shipping was resonably priced. Will definately order again.
Received plants on time and in such good condition I was
astounded. Have ordered from other companies and
never found such healthy or better shipped plants. Also
e-mailed a question about sending a plant and asked for
their recommendation for the right plant for the location
in another city. Was answered within hours or sooner as
I was in my garden for a few hours (it's spring in Texas).
I heartiy recommend them to anyone who is particular
about their plants. Know what I am talking about since
I am 72 and have been gardening since I was 6 years
old with my dad. That means I am a cranky old lady
with high expectations that were met.
I placed an online order for a Chinese parasol-tree (Firmiana simplex) and a pineapple guava. Both arrived very well-packaged and in excellent condition. I will order from them again!
My ECOLAGE experience was wonderful. Steven promptly returned my phone call and patiently answered several questions. Our wax myrtles arrived on the date promised and in outstanding condition. We were astounded at the ingenuity of their packing system which kept all seven containers perfectly in place. Hooray for a nursery dedicated to indigenous plants...I will order from ECOLAGE until I'm too old to garden.
I unthinkingly ordered from Ecolage for the first time the morning of September 24th as Hurricane Rita was closing in on coastal Louisiana. As the news got more and more grim and the damage reports were mounting, I realized that this nursery was going to take a terrible hit. Imagine my surprise when I received a personal thankyou email that very evening from Steve, who had escaped to Dallas, explaining that it may take a while to fill my order as they wouldn't know the extent of their damage until they were able to return home to Lake Charles. Well, I received my order last week, and I have NEVER received such beautiful, healthy plants from a mail order nursery in my life. Actually, plants in the local nurseries often don't look this good! Upon opening the boxes, the leaves were lush and green, the stems were turgid, the almond verbena was blooming! and the soil was still in the pots (in spite of UPS). The prices on the products are very reasonable, and I love the eco-friendly bio-degradable packing peanuts, also. We're gearing up for winter here in Fayetteville, AR, but as spring approaches and it's time to think about things green and fragrant again, I won't hesitate to return to Ecolage. I just can't say enough good things about this business. They are truly a class outfit. Thanks Steve... you guys are amazing!
Just after the hurricane hit LA, I placed an order with Ecolage. I was notified that it would be several weeks before they could send any plants so I cancelled the order. In Oct. I found I needed a Butterfly Rose and decided to try Ecolage again. A short time later I received a large package from UPS. It was so large I wasn't sure at first what it was. When I opened it I found the largest plant I've ever received in the mail. The Rose bloomed the next day and has new growth on most branches. Considering its low price I am impressed and recommend Ecolage to anyone looking for healthy, large plants.
This company knows how to keep its customers. I just received my first order and am thrilled and surprised. The tree was much larger and better looking than I ever expected and the packaging would have kept fine crystal in one piece. Steve (on staff) responded to questions quickly, professionally and personally. I didn't over-pay for shipping either. I am SO impressed and pleased with my new source for plants.
The rating should actually be EXCELLENT instead of merely positive.
I ordered three 1-gallon 'Burgundy Cotton' crape myrtles the week before hurricane Rita struck the Louisiana coast. They arrived perfectly packed and in excellent condition; The plants were healthy and vibrant, the rootballs had good moisture content. Transplanted into my yard using tree and shrub mix, the plants never showed any stress at all. I was very pleased with my first gardening mail-order experience. Lake Charles took a major hit from the storm, causing disruption to normal operations at Ecolage. I hope this company can recover quickly, they'll have my business again soon.

I FEEL VERY STRONGLY THAT THE LAST COMMENT LEFT BY "sylvainyang" SHOULD NOT GO DOWN AS BEING RECORDED AS A NEGATIVE TOWARD ECOLAGE!!!
Rules are rules as far as these feedbacks go, but leaving a negative feedback for a company located in Louisiana just days after the most devastating hurricane in history first hit the state is just so incredibly uncalled for and out-of-line, that I ask those of you in charge of the ratings to please remove it from Ecolage's feedback. The company had a grand total of ZERO negatives prior to this. Be assured that I have no ties to Ecolage, but I am merely an American with a heart and common sense. I urge others who read these comments to follow me in this effort.
sylvainyang...Being in Oklahoma, I'm sure you had to be aware of the complete devastation from the hurricane. How could you possibly be heartless enough to leave a comment like that just days after the hurricane? At a time like this, who even cares about plants?! I mean were all plant lovers here, but in the big picture the only thing that is important is saving people. You complain that you couldn't get through to the company and they didn't get to you...how would you have any idea if they had been hit hard by the storm, or if they had power, phones, internet, and if all of the workers were safe? I pray for you.
