For the first time recently I ordered violets by mail from Bluebird Greenhouses. I ordered 6 violets. Received an email from them stating they were out of ONE and did I want a substitute. I responded "no substitute", just sent the other 5 I ordered. Then received an email telling me my order was shipped and I would not be charged for that one and one other. Today I received them and was quite upset. Out of 6 violets I only received 3 that I ordered and two substitutes. One of the substitutes is purple of which I have more than I need and the other I have no idea because there is no pix on their website. They didn't bother to check with me on this problem - just went ahead and shipped them. Not a good experience, so will try someone else in the future.

I emailed Bluebird about the shipping of incorrect plants to me. They were very cooperative in agreeing to mail me the two plants I should have received in the batch of 5. Apparently they mixed my order up with someone else. This is not a good thing to do, but I'm pleased they're cooperating. I also had several broken leaves on what are quite small plants. They need to wrap more carefully. Will try them again in the future, but for now I'm neutral on their business.

I am sorry to say I must change my feedback. I have ordered a lot before and got miss-labeled plants and just let it fly.
But my last order from Dec/Jan. Plants were soken wet and pour quality.
But I still ordered a Miniature Special of six sense a friend got it.
Not only was one marked Baby Tears , and this is a standard, three other of the plants were same plants I paid full price for two weeks before. They were all soaked wet heavy , pour condition which is Lethal to African violets.

Thanks for letting me know about Baby Tears! She is one I picked up earlier
this year at the AVSA convention and it must have been mismarked at that
time. If I cannot find a name I will have to Keep it for retail or
collection sales (where folks are not concerned about names).
Watering in the winter is tricky...our days yoyo from sunny and warm to dark
and cold and that makes it difficult to regulate. I do know our plants are
not at their best but this is not our shipping season and this should be our
time to grow for spring orders.
Thanks for the feedback.
I was not Happy with her reply so I sent out another email;
Thank you for your reply to my email. I must tell you however that I am more than just a little disappointed in the response.
I understand all that you have said, but must interject that it would have been preferable to me to be given the option to wait until the plants had dried out just a bit to be shipped. This would have ensured that you had a happy (and repeat) customer. If my order were a small one, perhaps I wouldnít be so concerned but I spent over $100 ( just Dec./an.)on this order alone, and for someone on a restricted disability income, that constitutes a large chunk for me.
Some of the plants were just completely soggy. As you know, this is a death sentence for AV's.
I donít place my orders lightly, and consider very carefully the sources I order from based on several factors. Quality, health, variety and most importantly, customer service. At the moment, I am feeling that you are not concerned with the overall poor quality in which my plants arrived.
As an avid grower of gesneriads and someone who is disabled, I do the majority of my gesneriad shopping via the internet. I rely on companies like yours to be of the highest quality. Unfortunately the violets I received just donít represent the quality that I have received from Bluebirds in the past orders. I am not sure the remnants of the violets will even be salvageable. I also need to know that the plants are labeled correctly.
I know for a fact that based on my word of mouth recommendation that two of my friends placed orders with you in the last few weeks, because I told them that yours was a reputable high quality company Ė one personís violets were so wet that it took an entire day of wicking the water off to resurrect the plants. Please renew my faith that this is the case by sending replacements or offering me a store credit for the misnamed variety, and the violets that were so wet that they were crown rotted.
Below is a list of the ones Iíd like to be credited or have reshipped to me.
1. Mis-labeled Miniature " Baby Tear" also soggy wet pour condition
Other five mini's poor condtion dull unhealthy foliage heavy soggy soil.

Libby, I know you and your company care very much about customer service and I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you so that I can continue to place orders with you in the future.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
This letter was sent twice to Libbie with no answer.
So I feel my feedback needs to change to neg. and I won't be ordering anymore .
