Uncommon Rose is one of my favorite nurseries. They have the best website, and they offer such an eclectic variety of roses. Browsing their beautiful online catalog is like they are sharing their passion for roses with you. It's both inspiring and very addictive! I've already placed several orders with them, and it's only the 2nd year since my first order. You will always come back to see what new and rare varieties they are offering. In particular, I look for the handpainted roses, which are my favorite, and of which they always carry a few interesting selections. I also look for new roses by the gifted hybridist of the 21st century, Paul Barden. They exclusively carry his new introductions.
I like the honest and helpful descriptions in their catalog, which speak directly and straightforwardly to the average rose grower, without hype but a lot of zeal and attention to detail. For example, they will let you know if a rose is particularly susceptible to fungal infection, and they will let you know if a variety is particularly difficult to grow. Each rose that they offer they seem to have lots of firsthand experience growing, and they seem to love all of them for different reasons... otherwise I've come to believe that they wouldn't put it in their catalog. There is a rose for everybody, for every climate. For me, disease resistance is important, and it's a term that the people at The Uncommon Rose DON'T throw around lightly. In my past experience, if I've bought a variety that they described as disease-resistant, I've so far had great results with that rose in my garden (without chemical sprays). So I appreciate their integrity. As a consumer, it helps me from wasting money buying a rose that I might later need to throw away for not performing as I expected.
The sizes of their plants ranges from about average compared to band-sized roses from other mail-order places, to bigger and better than most others. And occasionally, they make available some select varieties in 3-inch pots for much lower price. These are a real steal! The plants they send are always healthy -- clean foliage and good root masses.
They are very efficient and their turnaround is rapid. They sent an order confirmation by email and again the day my roses shipped. The roses arrived on schedule.

Well, add me to the list of happy customers! Just received four roses well packaged, healthy looking on their own roots - can't ask for more!

I ordered two roses (Distant Drums and Moore's Striped Rugosa) on 2/23/07 - both were confirmed as available and would ship with my requested ship date of May 1. I heard nothing until 5/8 when I got a phone call saying their Distant Drums roses had died. I asked if I would still be paying almost $20 for one rose plus shipping and they said yes. I cancelled the order. Poor customer service, don't bother.

I was looking for particular rose for a number of years and
I was so happy when I found that they carried this rose.
Canadian customs require phytosanitary cerfiticate. Other nurseries require it but this company did not and they only charge $25 for this special document, it is worth it.
Their roses have their own roots and are very healthy.
Thet are packaged very well too.
I recommend them very much.

I ordered four roses from them on 03/25/04 and received them today. Absolutely perfect condition!! Three of them had blossoms and the scent was glorious. Belle De Crecy is a mauve, lavender, purple, orchid and cream color combined. Too pretty to describe.
I love this nursery.

Good pricing, prompt shipping, careful packaging, easy-to-use website -- this seller has it all. In the two years since my prior order, The Uncommon Rose has added a mail brochure with stunning, stunning photos. This is one of my favorite mail-order sources. May it prosper!

I have ordered several roses from this company. I am very pleased and would order from them again.
The web site is very easy to use with excellent cross indexing, good pictures and can prove down right addicting.
My orders were processed quicky, shipped fast and my credit card charges correctly.
The tiny plants that arrive packed up in the small box sure don't look like much but once in the garden soil they quicky doubled in size, set buds and bloomed their little heads off. They are still going strong and make me smile, they are so pretty.
This was one of two companies that I could find that sold a certain moss rose. Although shipping seemed a bit steep $8 for one rose, the rose was reasonably priced. My rose arrived very quickly with wonderful instructions on how to care for it. It is leafing up great and already has buds on it. I give uncommon rose an A+!
i bought several roses from this company and found only two that did well several were extrememly small and runty looking. after a whole growing season two were still small and stunted looking. i was very very disappointed in my purchase and would never do business with them again. this year those two roses are only an inch and a half high and i gave them all very good care. the roses i bought from another mini roses company flourished and did very well. so i do not know what the problem is but i am not happy.
The best, the best, the best! Caring people caring for plants and for their customers. Does it get any better than this? Everything ordered is first rate, clean, healthy and sent on the dot. Highly, highly recommeded.
I ordered my miniature roses on Sunday, they were shipped on Monday and I received them on Wednesday. The three minis Circus Clown, Robi, and Jean Kenneally, are all in great shape. The Uncommon Rose has a great website and very good photos accompanying the rose descriptions. I will be ordering from them again.

I have ordered many times from this Company, and have always been pleased. They ship on Monday, and I get the Roses on Wednesday, and one time, I missed the Mailman with the delivery, and Uncommon Rose sent me an e-mail and advised me of what to do, to make sure of getting the Roses (it was summer and HOT!) The few times I have lost a rose, they have been quick to replace it, with no questions asked...
I really would recommend this Company to anyone, with no reservations, they are in a class by themselves...
Hello everyone! Bought 3ea of Connie Lohn, Mood music and Paintbrush mini mosses and a full size White Bath moss which arrived at my abode as requested the end of March 03. I'd never heard of Uncommon Rose before but I really wanted more moss roses (got my first 3full size ones-Old Pink Moss-from Wayside 11 yrs ago) so I took a shot. They are excellent (the White Bath is kind of small for 12.00) and are growing very well, one is bloooming (Connie Lohn) and the minis all have 6+ buds on them. They were very nicely packaged and arrived on time, their site is very good and order confirmation came quickly. I will definately order more from this Company.

I ordered several mini-roses from this company, including Little Mermaid, which I was unable to find elsewhere, and a full-size rose, Awakening. They arrived very promptly (~1 wk), and in perfect condition, carefully wrapped. I wasn't able to plant them for about a week, so I put them outside, and when I went to plant them, they were still in perfect condition. Very pleased overall.
I ordered 'Baby Austin', 'Green Diamonds', 'Sweet chariot', and 'Precious Dream' last spring. The plants arrived in great condition and grew beautifully right away. They are such rare and precious varieties that I planted them all in containers. They bloomed all summer and late into the fall. I stumbled upon their website during a search for the name of an unknown greenish-pink hybrid tea rose that my mother had given me. I am a rose lover and collector and I recommend The Uncommon Rose very highly! The variety 'Precious Dream' is breathtaking. The other three varieties that I ordered are adorable and unique. I will definitely be ordering more.
I ordered 2 mini roses, baby austin and diamond anniversary. They sent them off on Monday like they said they would, the roses arrived on Wednesday. They were so well packaged I was amazed at the care and attention to detail this company has. They were in their pots, the pots were in plastic with a rubber band around the pot to hold it in place, then they were wrapped in newspaper and put into the box with foam peanuts. This is the best packaging of any I have ever seen. The roses arrived in wonderful healthy condition, only one had a few yellow leaves which I expected. Each one had a nice healthy bud ready to bloom soon. I will most definately order from this company again in the spring. I like the fact that their roses are smaller and on their own roots. The shipping is less and I think you get a healthier rose. I would recommend this company highly.
Wow describes this company. Received my rose in less than 2 weeks after ordering. There was no plant or order minimum. The rose was in bloom inside of the package, and a most gorgeous bloom it was too. It was the mini Lavender Delight, and the best part was there were 2 plants in the same pot, so now I have 2 for the price of 1! I would recommend them to anyone, and can't wait to order from them again...

I have now ordered a total of 34 items from this company. They continue to impress and I continue to look at them first for the roses I want... Keep up the good work!
I just received my first order from The Uncommon Rose, and am pleased with the condition of the plants upon arrival. Two were in bloom when I unwrapped them, and most have good, healthy foliage. Only one is a little scraggly looking, and even it looks strong and healthy, it just doesn't have as much foliage as the others. As the name of the company suggests, they carry some very unusual roses and I got three (2 mini, 1 floribunda) in the "coffee" colors. They also tell you exactly when your order will be shipped in advance, and it was sent express: Shipped on Monday, I received it on Wednesday. I expect I'll order from them again in the future.
I received roses in great shape. Their listing says the mini roses are shipped in 2- 3 inch pots. I worried that might not be robust enough to survive transplanting in hundred degree weather, but I took a chance because they are quite cheap and very interesting varieties. Nothing to worry about! They have put out lots of new growth in the three weeks I have had themin the ground here. I ordered three old garden roses as well, which shipped in larger pots, and which appear to be equally healthy and happy.
Of the four mini rose suppliers I tested this year, The Uncommon Rose ties with Nor'East for finest. The plants came mere days after I ordered - and this from across the country! The specimens were the healthiest I've ever seen. Bravo! I recommend heartily.
