In the spring of this year I ordered some hard-to-find plants in local nurseries from Paradise Garden. The order was shipped early per my request and arrived in excellent condition. I was so impressed with their service and healthy plants that I let my closest friends know that I'd love plants on my wish list at Paradise Garden for my birthday. I am pleased to say that they all sent plants from Paradise Garden, and all were healthy and came with a bonus daylily- or should I say daylilies because each one far surpassed any daylily plant I've ever received from other nurseries. I've recommended ordering from this company to my friends for their own gardens and asked them to please continue to use my wish list at Paradise Garden for future gifts for me!

I planted them almost right away (love to dig in the garden) and now after being in the ground for only 3 weeks - one of the daylilies is getting ready to bloom. Now if I can hide this bloom from the deer . . . . . . .
Now when the other lilies arrive (hope is this week) I'll be done.

I ordered Hosta Olive Bailey Landon in Mid July '06' and it arrived in just a few days-- packaging for shipment couldn't have been any better-nice moist root system with leaves removed. After soaking to re-hydrate and planting, it seemed strange that no leaves appeared after about 4 weeks so I sent an e-mail asking if this was normal but stated to Patti in Customer Service that I'd like to give Olive another week or so to see if any leaves would sprout. After that time passed Patti sent me a replacement and after planting it is doing fine. The original Olive cut off leaf stalks have now turned yellow and fallen off but I wonder if it isn't gone into dormancy...I will find that out come Spring of '07'. My experience in dealing with the CS department at Paradise Gardens was wonderful. I would encourage anyone to order from them. Vi from Fitchburg, MA

I am happy with this website. It was informative and easy to use. The company communicated well and let me know just when to expect the plants.
I was pleased with the 2 hostas I ordered; but one was very small. An extra (Very nice) plant was included. The two I ordered were planted 3 months and still no leaves. They weren't dead....just no new growth. The freebie grew very well. I contacted Patti just to let her know I was somewhat disappointed at having no new growth on the hostas all summer. Without hesitation, I was immediately sent two more (beautiful hostas) which I promptly planted and which look lovely in my garden. I am super impressed with the fast response and the generosity of this garden site. I will surely recommend them. Donna Thomas.

I ordered daylilies and hostas as well as a few other smaller things. All things came well packed. The daylilies came separate (from Oakes daylilies in their packing)--I was shocked to find 3-4 fans of each daylily, not just one little one. AND they sent me an extra I didn't expect. All are doing wonderfully and 3 or the new daylilies have already bloomed. The hostas were the same--not just one little plant, but two or three. Drinking gourd was already large, and it bloomed about a month after planting. I also received a free hosta (wide brim). All are growing nicely. I am very pleased with them and surely will do business again. Karen Shaver

My order was complete and actually contained several extra iris that I didn't order. When I responded to Paradise via e-mail to explain that they had sent me extra iris, they immediately responded to thank me for my honesty and told me to accept the extras as a gift from them. In May 2005 I ordered several daylilies, a tree peony and a herbaceous peony from Paradise Gardens. The lilies arrived in good condition. The peonies were not to be shipped until "fall". One of the lilies named Judith, bloomed the same season I purchased it. The description and photo described Judith as being a beautiful pink color. However, the bloom was a dirty pumpkin color, far from the lily pictured. I called and emailed Paradise, but received no response. The two peonies were shipped in November. November in Indiana is not "fall", it is winter. Further, the tree peony, Yachiyotsubaki, bloomed this spring. It was supposed to be a soft pink color, but it is instead a bright wine-red color. I didn't bother to try to contact Paradise about the peony. I will never order from them again.

I bought from the company for the first time this spring... I ordered 17 different daylillies and they arrived quickly and in beautiful shape...I also received 3 bonus daylillies... 18 of the 20 plants are thriving... One of the plants died because my landscaper sprayed it with weed killer - no plant can survice that... There is still hope that the other one will survive - I think it caught some of the spray the first plant got doused with....
Two of the early bloomer already have buds and the rest are green, about 10 inches tall and healthy...
The company notified me when the plants shipped and they arrived all together and on time...
I recently ordered plants from 'another' company and it took forever to get the plants and only 11 of the 20 I ordered arrived... When I inquired by email it took 5 days for a response and they indicated that the rest of the plants will arrive soon (whatever that means)...
I am already thinking about what to order for next years bulbs...

The other one just never came back to life. Recalling their guarantee to replace plants that do not make it, I searched for my receipts to no avail. I did have my plant tags. I emailed them with my story with a lot of hope. To my surprise they found my receipt & sent me another mature plant!!! I really was elated. Now my 2 plants are thriving in my blue perrenial bed! Please note, negative f/back from customers is from 2005. I had some problems last summer also with poor quality, they emailed back and issued a credit which I recently used. I phoned them to place this order, and was answered by a 'live' person, who went the extra mile to help me with my order using my credit. I received several emails thereafter, confirming order, shipping dates, and tracking info. I received order this week, and the packing is by far the best I've ever seen!! as well as outstanding plants! Because they thought the tricyrtis was a bit on the small side (I didn't) they sent an additional plant, and then they sent an awesome 3 fan daylily as a bonus. From my experience, I believe they have brought this company around 360 from last year. These plants are remarkably healthy, the heuchera is huge and one would never know it went through a shipping process. The customer service was perfect and pleasant as it can possibly be. First time ordering with Paradise Garden. I ordered three plants from Paradise Garden. The hosta came and was full of leaves with only one bad leaf. I cut that leaf off and have overlooked that as I thought I got what I paid for plus the bonus hosta was a nice touch.

I also ordered two toad lilys expecting to receive two year old plants as advertised. The plants I received are a little over 1 inch tall. They look like seedlings grown recently from a bulb this year and are ridiculously small for $15.00 a piece. Very shallow root systems. Very upset. I photographed the containers and sent an email to the company later that day. I also called the company the next day. The representative while polite, insisted the plants were two years old and I was wrong. Unless I have miracle soil, my two year old toad lilys look nothing like these and something is wrong. The representative told me I could ship them back, but by the time I package them up, pay to return them, and eat the original shipping cost, it does not make economical sense to return them. So I am stuck with $30.00 worth of toad lilys that look like $2.00 bulb sprouts. I didn't give them a negative because at least these plants arrived alive, but I will not do business with them again.

On May 26th, 2006, rosephan changed the rating from neutral to negative and added the following:

My landscaper came to do my lawn and viewed the tricyrtis and he agreed these were not 2 year old plants. From reading the comments posted here, it appears I am not the only one that has received these small plants as another 2006 reviewer mentioned a problem with the size of the tricyrtis. Why she was treated great and rewarded with replacement and additional free plants and I was told I was wrong I don't know BUT WILL NEVER DO BUSINEES WITH THEM AGAIN.

I just had what could have been a very bad experience with this company turn into a very positive one. Last June I had 2 clematis sent to my mom for her birthday. They were pricey, $50, but I thought it would be worth the cost if it meant she was going to receive prime specimens. Unfortunately what she received was one plant that was essentially dead, and another that was slowly and excruciatingly following its partner down that road. Not wanting to upset me, my parents neglected to tell me this until very recently.

Seeing as nearly a full year has passed, I really didn't expect any action from Paradise Gardens- or even a response, based on some of the reviews I've seen here- but I decided to contact them before posting my own review to at least give them a chance to redeem themselves.
Within one day I received a personal email from their customer service department apologizing for the quality of the plants, particularly since they were a gift, and a promise of 2 new clematis to be sent to my mom. Bear in mind- this is a problem that was not even been mentioned to them until a FULL YEAR later. That is pretty amazing customer service in my opinion and I felt it was important for me to recognize that in this forum.

Into every mail order company's life, a few bad plants must fall, the important thing is that they stand by their products.

They are expensive, and I probably won't order a great number of plants because of this, but I wish other companies would take note and realize alot of people would much rather pay a few extra dollars initially to get quality plants rather than paying bargain basement prices for sickly sticks that won't live 2 weeks. After having trouble with a couple of other internet companies, I came across Paradise Garden and had read a lot of positive feedback about them. I ordered four plants from them, three Heuchera "Raspberry Ice" and one dwarf fountain grass. A few days later, I had not received any notification that the order had been shipped and I checked with the address the company provided and it did not indicate that the order had been shipped. Less than a week after placing my order, I received an e-mail from the company that they were having a sale and that both of the plants that I ordered were now on sale for $4.00 off on each plant, which would have saved me $16.00. I immediately e-mailed the company and asked them if they would give me the sale price for my order. I received an automatic response that my e-mail would be responded to within 24 hours. About 24 hours later, I did receive a response telling me that, no, they would not give me the sale price for the plants. I thought that was very poor customer service and I again checked to see if my order had been shipped. It did not indicate that it had, so I immediately tried to call their customer service line and got the recording (like so many others) that their mailbox was full and was not accepting messages. Knowing this would not get me anywhere, I e-mailed customer service back and asked them to cancel my order. I did not get any response, but one day later my order was sitting at my front door when I got home from work and my credit card had, of course, been charged for the full amount, not the sale price. The plants seem to be of good quality; however, I will not purchase plants from that company again due to their lack of good customer service.

I snip the bad portion of the hostas and planted them in my garden. Now, they still look the same and the discoloration on the leaves has spreaded throughout the plant. Personally, I will not buy plants from a catalog again and will continue to buy locally where I take them back and there is a guarantee on plants or I can view them at the store. This company has had the most ATROCIOUS customer service out of
ANY company (gardening or otherwise!) I have EVER done business with. I have been attempting to get a hold of them since the middle of MAY! I have sent multiple emails, at least 5 that I have saved, as well as countless phone calls. THEIR VOICEMAIL HAS BEEN FULL EVERY TIME I HAVE CALLED, AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ONE RESPONSE TO ANY SENT EMAIL! Even though I have included my phone number and email with every email, the folks at paradise garden have chosen to NOT respond.

My complaint is simple. I was sent substituted gladilous bulbs that are not the same color scheme, as well as much tinier bulbs than I was expecting. That was from one company that paradise garden sent my order to. (MY ONE ORDER WAS SENT TO 3 DIFFERENT COMPANIES TO FILL, JUST AS A WORD OF CAUTION TO POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS. YOU NEVER KNOW WHO OR WHAT YOU WILL BE GETTING!) I requested my money back, and offered to mail back the diminutive bulbs.

From the second company, I received the double clematis collection, 3 clematis. One of the clematis looked like it had a fungal infection already, and I was questioning if a second clematis had an infection also. I began earnestly trying to reach paradise garden about this complaint. Now, 60 days later, I have 3 withering, infected clematis for the bargain price of $60. And STILL NO CONTACT FROM PARADISE GARDEN!

They say they offer a 100% guarantee, however they do not allow any window of opportunity to voice your concerns with your order to them. I truly have never had such a miserable experience as a customer of ANY company. My next step is to contact my bank and file a direct complaint against paradise garden, as well as to have the bank file a dispute against paradise garden and withdraw my money from their account. I hate that it has to come to this, but they refuse to make good on their products.

BE VERY CAREFUL BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!
