Overall, I have good experiences with Roberta's. Most of my plants do not perform as stated in the QVC presentations, but they are beutiful and larger the 2nd and 3rd seasons.
I love Roberta's flowers because of their uniqueness. I will continue to buy. I've never had any issues with customer service. In fact, since the plants don't always do well in the first year, I've requested replacements and I now have some duplicates. But when the plants don't do well the first year, the guarantee is expired the second year, so I get the replacements to be sure I have the plant. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.
I will continue to purchase from Roberta's. Mainly for the unique selections I can't buy locally. And, if I were to buy a perennial local, it would be expensive because it would be more mature. Plus, it wouldn't have the guarantee with it.,
I'm surprised at so many negative comments b/c I've ordered from Roberta's for the last 3 years and found the bulbs to be exactly as promoted on QVC. Out of about 72 bulbs there were 2 that looked sickly but I stuck them in the ground anyway and even one of those came up. This year the Day Lilies look spectacular and will definitely need to be divided in the Fall. The Peonies in their 2nd year have grown so much I could not believe it and I even had 2 blooms. In fact I thought I had killed one of my Peony plants when I over fertilized. It hardly grew at all last year. When I came back this season low and behold the little guy looked very healthy. Don't expect too much the first year but you just wait! You will be proud of your plants the 2nd season!
i ordered a set of Roberta's Dahlia Bodacious flowers last year. one didn"t come up but the other 2 did and we're just lovely.I emailed Roberta's last year and told them about the one that didn't come up and got my replacement today. have bought may plants from them and have been really pleased with what i got. ordered many more this year and cann"t wait to get them. All i can say is . GOOD JOB ROBERTA'S.

Several years ago I ordered a set of lilies from Roberta's through QVC for my father who lives in MS. When they arrived my mother called and said she did not think they would do much since a couple of them appeared dried up. They were thrown in a clay pot sitting on the driveway. A few of them came up that year but nothing bloomed. They were left alone and forgotten.
The next year my mother called when they started blooming. She was amazed. Apparently they were 4 feet tall and had deep rose pink saucer sized blooms. They were all still in the same pot. My mother said when friends stopped to visit they were all amazed by the lily and requested a bulb when my mother divided them.
I have never seen the lily bloom, just pictures. They are beautiful.

I wish I have had the experience to try the quality of plants that some people are talking about but my problem starts with the company itself. I ordered 2 sets of Artic Kiwi Plants from QVC on 4.13. On 4.21 an email was sent that my plants were shipped and EDT of 4.24. I called QVC that day and told them that I have not received my plants yet and they said to wait until 05.01. Well, on 05.01 I called again to report that this order was never received. They apologized and said that it is shipped directly from the vendor and that they could give me a refund. I told them that I was going to contact the vendor first.
I called Roberta's customer service and I believe that they could have care less about this problem. I gave them the tracking number that was provided and which only showed "Billing Information Received" and the lady said that she would look into it and called me back. That call back never happened. I called UPS today and they said that the item doesn't show as being picked up at all and that Roberta should have contacted them when I brought up this problem. I guess I will never see this plants so I will request the refund from QVC. I also email a similar complain to Roberta's where I mentioned that I was going to give a poor review on Dave's Garden but I doubt they will get back to me. I am always concern about buying plants from shows because I don't trust the quality I will receive but this is even worse because I was charged for something that NEVER SHIPPED!! Shame on you Roberta's Inc

I just received an email from Roberta's in response to the email I sent and the review I posted here and it looks like the problem may be with the carrier they use. I received an apology from them and this person said that he would do what he can to honor my original purchase. At least they are trying to get to the bottom of this. I am still not sure if I want to buy plants from a TV show or online again as this was my first experience and it just didn't work out. I am changing my rating from 3 years ago from Negative / Neutral to Positive. About a month ago a got an email from Roberta's Garden inquiring about the kiwis I never received.
I was surprised to say the least since I never expected to hear back from them. Jason Garrison offered to make it right for me and I believe this shows that this company is trying to improve on their customer service.

I have ordered a money tree plant and it came dead, They did replace that. and then I ordered a Hawaiian tuberose set, instead i got begonias, so I am on a list to get a replacement next year, I have read nothing but negatives, I have had no problems getting a hold of them nor them making good on their products. I will keep you updated as to what happens. But they do offer plants that nursery's don't have near you. and great ones!

I have ordered numerous things from QVC, Roberta's and Cottage Farms and have never had any problems at all, as a matter of fact I have 3 ot the Hawaiian Plumeria Collection that I have had for about 5 years now..I have had to repot them every year because they have grown so much...When the first chance of frost comes i just sit them in my back room and don't bother them...All of the leaves will fall off and they do just look like a stick but when April rolls around I start watering them and I take them back outside when the chances of frost have passed and they start to grow their leaves and then blooms...

I purchased gardenia and pikake last year through qvc, both sets of plants were very poor quality and died. They arrived very small, approx. 2 inch tall sticks with a couple of leaves. I contacted qvc and they promptly had two more orders sent, but they were not much better. In the presentation and on the qvc web site they show much larger robust plants - even in the "shipped as shown" pics. QVC was very helpful, but quality control at Roberta's I question. I emailed Roberta's about this issue and they stated I would be put on a list for replacement again this spring (2008). I am anxiously waiting to see if they rectify things and send the robust plants they advertise this time. Right now I am not too pleased with the company, but I will wait and see if they do better. There are several complaints listed on the QVC site about these two plants, I was not the only one. To be fair, I did order the begonia bulbs a few years ago, and they did grow fabulously for me. I will update my experience soon accordingly!

In response to a third replacement yesterday (June 18)by Roberta's of my gardenia and pikake plants, I need to rate my experience as a positive one. The two pikakes look healthy but are just one stick cuttings that are fairly tall this time. Not what I hoped for, but in good shape. The gardenia's are full robust plants with many stems, much more like the shipped as shown pics on the qvc website. They all came packed extremely tidy and in good shape this time! Although I wish I had received them in this shape the first time around, I have to give Roberta's kudos for three replacements. In the long run, the shipping alone had to have cost them.... better to get it right the first time--for their benefit also. Again, a positve rating for correcting the situation.
I have quite a Roberta's collection. As of right now, I have climbing gloriosa lilies, blue Japanese toad lilies, Starfire lilies, Pineapple lilies and tuberoses. I have all but the tuberoses for 3+ years and they come back bigger and better every year. I love my Roberta's bulbs because while they require more care than ordinary bulbs (wintering over and what not), they are incredibly unique and are very healthy. Usually my mom & I watch the show on QVC and decide what we want to order and split it. Since they always send a pretty decent amount of bulbs, we can both grow them (and have an insurance policy in case either of us don't have luck with them).
I have had a few plants that did not work out for me and it was quite a tragedy. The plumeria did not make it past the winter-over stage, but I accept responsibility on that one as I think I was over-eager to start a new plant. My mom has gone from two pots of them to like six now, so I know that it was my blunder, not Roberta's. Neither of us had any success with the freesia or the buttercups. It happens, though. When she called Roberta's they were promptly replaced with other items, so I most certainly cannot complain.
I will order from Roberta's again, I'm sure. I like their stuff (^.^) And all in all, the pros outweigh the cons tremendously. To anyone that hasn't had luck with their plants, give it another shot and try something else. I've had a few duds, but they've compensated us with new things to grow which always turn out fine.
I have ordered numerous items from Roberta's and my favorite were the Sumatra Lilies. They grew well and were totally beautiful. I think if you follow the directions the plants will be great. I have since moved to Alaska and wish they could ship plants up here.
I have purchased several plants from Roberta's via QVC. My first purchase was a Hawaiian Sweetheart plant. The plant did not thrive in my home and died. I contacted QVC, who replaced the plant for me, at no charge. The replacement plant is still thriving in my home, now that I've learned some special care it needs (like keeping it in the original pot for the 1st year). The second Roberta's order I purchased was for Hawaiian Plumeria plants. I received 4 plants. Within 2 months, 2 of the plants had died from root rot (soil too moist). I contacted QVC, who gave me the option of a refund or a replacement of the two plants. Since the plants were exotic and interesting to me, I chose the option of the replacement. Within one month, another of my original plants had died. I again contacted QVC, who replaced my full purchase price of the plants. Apparently Plumerias are very succeptable to root rot and need well drained soil and bright light and warm temperatures (remember, these plants are native to Hawaii). The only disappointment I have is that my Plumerias have not yet flowered. They are in their 2nd full season now. I am having trouble finding care tips for these plants, for flowering and overall care as well. However, the plants, flowering or not are unique and I enjoy them.
And in response to another user's comment about Cottage Farms plants from QVC, I have had even better luck with those plants and their warranty and replacement is longer than Roberta's and is also fantasic.
I ordered lilies, I have had wonderful results.
They have such large blooms and have grown very tall. I live in a difficult area for many plants to survive, but so far what I have ordered from Robert's, have been wonderful.
I have ordered at different times thru Robert's directly, and never have had a problem. The custmer service dept was always very cheerful and willing to out of their way to please me.
I have gotten bulbs from Roberta's from QVC and from a local garden & patio show. You would not believe the results I have gotten! I have lilies taller than my mom with flowers bigger than a large man's hand! The colors are incredible.
I also have the gloriosa lily that climbs, and I think I'm going to have to get a taller trellis. But, my favorite is the Money Tree plant. I swear I can almost watch it grow!

I will NEVER buy plants from Roberta's Inc. Their customer service reps are rude, not helpful, and really don't seem to know anything about plants. All plant that I have purchased from Roberta's have been of VERY poor quality. I would not recommend Roberta's to anybody. QVC should stop using them as a vendor.

A couple of days ago, I received the Sweetheart plant, and it was in very good condition. It even had a few blooms on it. There are also some buds on the money trees. I can already see a tiny leaf on it, and I have had them for only about a week! Being new to Dave's Garden website, I thought I might take a moment to post information from previous buys. In the spring of 2004, I purchased a collection of Roberta's oriental lillies and daylillies thru QVC. The price couldn't be beat. After I received the bulbs, they sat around in the garage for a few weeks (they got shipped a few weeks too early for our frozen Maine winters). All 12 bulbs (oriental collection) were large and looked healthy. All 8 bulbs of the daylilly collection looked a little small but realtively healthy. I'll have to be honest, for the price I paid, I didn't expect much. I figured if half of the bulbs actually survived and bloomed, then I got a deal. Much to my surprise, ALL 12 of the orientals grew like weeds and bloomed with some of the most gorgeous colors I've seen. All 8 of the daylillies came up and 6 of them bloomed the first year..... and a "green thumb" I am not!! Now I know all you gardening pros are saying..."lillies... anyone can grow a lily"... but literally, all I did was stick them in the ground and throw some dirt over them. I couldn't help but grin all summer at the STEAL I had gotten, every time I looked out over the garden. I have already placed my order for this year.... and here I've always thought that QVC was only for blue haired little ole ladies that wanted to buy gawdy jewelry and pocketbooks!! I'll let you know how my Roberta's order turns out this year.
Bulbs arrived in timely manor. Look to be in good condition. Customer service is a waste. If you are need of help or advice on the plant you ordered and it's not in their script, they are not any help. Might order from them again, but know I have to do the research on the plant I'm buying on my own, can't count on them for advice.
