WOW--my first experience with Garden Crossings and I must say outstanding!!!!! I took a leap of faith and placed a large order online ($265, which included free shipping) in mid August. My order consisted of ornamental grasses, Buddleias and some Russian Sage. The plants arrived in 3 days. They were all full-sized, healthy plants and were packed perfectly with no damage at all! They Buddleias were in full bloom!!! Amazing!! I took the chance to plant here in NC during the sweltering heat of August....with great results. The largest of the Buddleia (2 gal.) seemed to be droopy for a few days after planting. I emailed customer service (on a Sat. evening) and received a response within minutes from Heidi!!! She told me since the plant was large, that it is going through a bit of transplant shock and to water it everyday. Well, I watered it and babied it a bit (I even put a beach umbrella over it during the hottest midday sun!). It took about 2 weeks and then the plant adjusted and is a healthy blooming machine!!! The Russian Sage has been blooming like crazy as well as the other buddleias!!! I will be placing many orders with them!!! I highly recommend Garden Crossings as an outstanding mail order source!!!!
I'm so thrilled with the 2 plants I just received from Garden Crossings! After being stung numerous times from some other online vendors, what I got is unbelievably wonderful. They are BIG. They are so healthy it's like I just picked them up myself from their greenhouse. Reasonable prices and reasonable shipping, too! No tiny babies! No plugs! Just fabulous! Amazing number of plants and really helpful growing advice. I placed my order last Sunday and received today (Wednesday). They are in Michigan - I'm in western NC. I'll be busy digging up the rest of my yard so I can order more, lol, and will be their customer forever.

What a wonderful mail order nursery this is! I, too, was concerned about above average prices, but when my plants arrived, I realized the money was well spent. And the packaging is the best. I will buy from this company again.

I've not ordered from Garden Crossings, but my mom and I visited their beautiful retail center a couple of weeks ago and I will not hesitate in ordering from them in the future. I saw the plants they had for sale to the public as well as those being packaged to be mailed out and without a doubt, they are some of the healthiest plants I've ever seen anywhere.
I went in there not intending to buy much, if anything, since I'd pretty much already filled my garden for the year, but left there with two trays of things and a large herbaceous peony. Mom was in the same position I was, yet she too left there with her fair share of plants. We got a wonderful tour of the place by Rod and it was fun talking plants with him.
This is a first class operation and their position on the Garden Watchdog Top 30 is well-deserved. It really doesn't get any better than this. It's clear that they are committed to providing quality plants as well as great customer service.
Over the past few months, I placed a number of orders with another mail order plant supplier (rated #1 on this site) and was extremely disappointed with the size, vigor, and overall quality of the plants. This experience made me extremely leary of doing any more business with mail order suppliers. However, I am in the process of redoing the landscaping on 3 acres of my property, and with so many new plants to purchase, I can't help but be drawn to good prices that help keep the overall cost of the project within reason and to plant variety not available locally. So I thought I would give it another shot and ordered a few plants from Garden Crossings as a test to see if they might met my expectations and become my new plant supplier. My plants arrived yesterday, and with a little bit of trepidation, I opened the box to see what surprises awaited me. The difference in my two shopping experiences is night and day. The packaging was excellent (no irritating styrofoam peanuts) and the plants (which were sale plants) were beautiful - healthy, vibrant, covered with blooms, and all set to be immediate stars in their new beds. This company deserves to be at the head of the line in Dave's ratings. You can tell that they take real pride in growing and supplying outstanding plants. If I could give them a SUPER POSITIVE rating, I would. They definitely have earned my future business and I would highly recommend them to all of you. GREAT JOB GARDEN CROSSINGS!!!!
Excellent packing, delivery right on time, plants were fantastic! Do NOT worry about ordering from this company! They are outstanding and I'll be a return customer!
Garden Crossings is a top notch company. I order from them every spring and their plants are always packaged well and the plants come in good shape. I have ordered several shrubs and a few perennials and all are growing and doing well. They offer a lot of the new varieties at a resonable price. This company defintely deserves its spot as one of the Top Watchdog Companies!
I ordered a tree peony and admit I was a bit skeptical about purchasing a shrub in a 5 1/2" pot by mail order. I was afraid it would be small and wilted. But I have not been able to find this plant locally and the positive feedback on this website convinced me to try it. I must say I am impressed with the size of the plant's leaves and the root system. It is fresh and green, the leaves were just a bit bent from being in the package. I would second what others have said about the quality of Garden Crossings packaging--it is first rate and was certainly put to the test here. Despite my instructions to leave the package by the side door if no one was home, our Fed Ex delivery person threw the package over the back fence and it took 2 days for me to notice it was out there. The plant was still perfectly ok and the dirt did not spill out of the pot.
I ordered 4 rebecca clematis form garden crossings this spring, all arrived in pristine condition with the vines staked and over a foot tall with flowers on them in the box. I bought a jackmannii from my local nursery a few years ago and these were about the same size With all the rain and wet soil we've had this spring, the vines have been growing like gangbusters and they perpetually flower as advertised, I was very happy with the service and plants, would highly recommend garden crossings.

Received 2 great plants, a Josephine clematis and Bill Brincka hosta. Plants were packed wonderfully. Best looking clematis of it's size I've seen. At first I thought the prices were a little high, but seeing the size of the plants, and how much I would pay locally for the same size, they are not bad. Plus they had the clematis I really wanted in stock.
OMG! The coneflowers were awesome! Big, healthy and the packing was awesome. 3 out of 6 coneflowers already had blooms and new buds. My very first order and I was very impressed. This is a company I will definitely order from again and again. The old saying you get what you pay for is right on! Thank you for a wonderful first time experience.

My current plant order arrived in perfect condition with all of the plants being large and healthy. However, when 3 of the plants began to bloom it was obvious that they had shipped the wrong color. They shipped replacements right away.
Note: I could do without the Bible verses on the correspondence. As my beliefs are different, I find these unsolicited religious snippets to be quite presumptuous and a bit offensive.

I ordered 6 Euonymus fortunei 'Interbowli' Blondy. I already have 5, and needed to ad, and was thrilled to see that this top company offered what I needed! They arrived thriving and well-packaged, with sticks in the soil equal to the height of the box to prevent the plants from being bounced too much! Very impressed! Their website is not only visually appealing, but already easy to use and informative. I liked how you could pick the ship week as it made it clear when the plants should arrive. I have since received a catalogue and coupon and already used them! I expect order #2 sometime next week! I can't wait to do business again in the future as I continue to add to my garden!
I ordered three plants & was pleased to see that the box & markings were A-1. . .even more pleased when upon opening, the condition & quality of the plants were exceptional. . .I have ordered from half-dozen companies before but have never received plants such as these. . .thanks for taking care of the customer. . .

I was thrilled yesterday when my Garden Crossings order arrived. This company is using the most fantastic packing box system so the plants arrived in perfect A-1 condition. Were easily unpackaged in a clean manner.
I have been so upset with the condition of arrivals from other online companies and this was a most welcome surprise. The plants were large, full and green !!
Wonderful !

I just have to crow about Garden Crossings.
What great plants.
Sure they cost a bit more but the plants are bigger, they have a better chance with my gardening skills.
They come in big boxes all individually wrapped in their own sleeve. One of the Oriental Poppies had a bud on it.
I will definatly order next year.
I also like the way you can add on to an order as the winter goes along. The charge doesnt go thru until they ship another great feature
Theyre just great.

Very impressed!!! Impeccable packaging and huge plants!!!!! They back ordered a rosemary and I'm confident it'll be just as good. My only complaint is that they describe their viola Black Magic which is gorgeous as far as colour goes, as being fragrant and big disappointment....it's not!!!!! One of the reasons I bought her was for its supposedly being fragrant. Oh, well, nothing is perfect!!!!

Well, I have to say.. I am impressed by the size, health, and vigor of the plants I have bought at Garden Crossings! This is my first time buying from them. I thought I would give them a try because they were on DW top 30. Boy, they can't be beat!
I bought a peach flambe heuchera, a Henryi clematis, and a Beauty of Worcester clematis. All three were boxed wonderfully. Shipped fast, even before I even knew they were shipped lol. All three were BIG, Strong, and healthy! Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou sooo much!
Do I have to say? Yes, I will be back.

Garden Crossings does it again! Impressive! I ordered an Earnest Markham clematis from them. It was sent out yesterday and arrived today! Fast shipping. The plant was healthy and nice looking with excellent packaging. Not dried out at all. Great job! You know this company is the best one I've found yet. They are one of the best places to order from period.
Of course, I will continue ordering from them. Way to go Garden Crossings!

Over the past few weeks, I have received mail order clematis from five different vendors. They varied in size and price quite a bit, but I'm happy to say that all the plants are thriving and happy... from every vendor. Garden Crossings offered a good selection with fair prices. Their plants appear to be cultivars they purchased from other growers and then grew out to larger size in their own containers. I say this because my clematis plants were in identical quart-size containers, but had ID tags from various growers. The roots and foliage were full and healthy... quite impressive. But, most impressive was the packaging and shipping. OUTSTANDING! They put each large clematis plant in a separate box, and then paired two smaller boxes inside larger boxes for shipping. The pots were held secure in place so that the plants were completely protected with double cardboard all the way here. The box could be turned in any direction without the plant moving or the dirt displacing. I truly appreciate the care Garden Crossings took to ensure that the plants arrived at my home in the same condition in which they left the nursery. I will happily be a repeat customer in the future. A++++ vendor! =)

Always a satisfied customer. Just want to make a special comment about one plant in particular, the Lobelia 'Queen Victoria' is just beautiful and it hasn't even flowered yet! Thanks again.
I ordered from Garden Crossings after a very bad experience with a different online nursery, and I was thrilled. My plants arrived in beautiful condition-- they're healthy and they're potted as advertised (not bare root). I could save money ordering from a different company, but I'm not willing to take that chance. I just placed another order with Garden Crossings and can't wait to receive it!
Excellent+++ packing. Plants were very large compared to most mail order I've received. Hope they grow in my garden as great as they look upon arrival.
My first experience with Garden Crossings. I ordered a scabiosa that arrived in good condition despite being stuck in a Fed Ex facility over the weekend. It arrived a total of 5 days after shipping and it still looked pretty good: it was also a really large full plant that barely fit in the box. It was packed well.
Overall I am happy with the plant quality, and also that it came in the 5.5 inch pot.

Just received my first order from Garden Crossings. I ordered 4 plants from their end of the season sale and imagine my surprise when a huge 2ft tall box arrived! Yep, the plants were that big and packed so that neither soil nor plants were disturbed during shipping. A very big thumbs up for GC! My first order, but it won't be my last!

Wonderful company! Gorgeous, huge, healthy plants!!! Shipped lightening fast! I am just so pleased to have found this company! A serious garden company with quality merchandise. How refreshing! I ordered a Phygelius, a Filipendula and an Echinacea. Top-notch! I can honestly say, I have never received such large plants from a mail order company before. BRAVO! Garden Crossings!

I just received my first plants from Garden Crossings. I ordered daylilies. When I opened the box I was surprised to see the green foliage filling the box all the way to the top. They were in very large pots, expertly packed and properly labled. I am very satisfied with my first order from this company and happy to give a positive review.

I ordered two Roguchi clematis and they shipped super fast and arrived on time. And despite the fedex guy obviously not understanding what "Live plants this side up" means AND tossing the box on its side on my patio, they arrived in excellent condition. Luckily they were packed very well. I'm impressed by how big and healthy they are. Thanks Garden Crossings!
I had been looking for a certain color of cone flower, everyone in my area was out. Lo a Garden Crossings catalog came and there it was. I ordered on line and could not believe how fast it came and even better it was a very nice large plant . I am really pleased and will order again. Pat

I have placed numerous orders with Garden Crossings for Clematis. Their website is easy to navigate, the ordering process is excellent. And, they are quick to respond to an e-mail. I hated to hear the negative response, but this happens sometimes. I am very pleased with my business dealings with them. Oh, and I just received my latest shipment, 7/11/08 and even had blooms on one of the plants, and the packaging well it was over the top as usual. When ordering by mail you would expect to have scrawny plants sometimes [yes, I've been given a reality check a time or 2 with other vendors] but I'm always pleased with Garden Crossings, good root system, healthy plants. The shock of transporting any plants, especially large plants is to be expected, not to mention the cost of shipping large plants. I guess you could call me a fan.
i ordered 1 clematis,1 cone flower. the plants were nice size and in big 5x5 pot
size which most mail order companies don't have for the price i paid. the plants were healthy and now i'm giving them a little sun each day to get them ready to
plant in about a week. i would and will order from this company again!

I placed my first order with Garden Crossings last week. At the time, they were running a special: no shipping charges for orders over $100. My order was over $100, so I expected no shipping charges. It turned out that one of the plants ordered was no longer available. My order dropped below $100 and shipping charges were added back and charged to my credit card. Garden Crossings caught this snafu themselves, called me to explain the error, and credited my account for the shipping.
My plants arrived today and I'm very pleased. They were really good sized and packed well. As best I can tell, they suffered little during transit. I will order from Garden Crossings again.
