Had terrific positive experiences with both orders that I put in with these folks (about $200 worth overall). Ultra fast shipment, very nicely packed and healthy strapping plants. Not the cheapest mail order source, but after trying several of the other cheaper guys and having terrible experiences, I think I have to say that even though Garden Crossings is not the cheapest, it is the best value once you consider what you get, how fast you get it, and how well it is packed.
Ordered an "Oranges and Lemons" Guillardia as well as a couple other things a few months ago. Rec'd shipment quickly, although the guillardia didn't look the greatest (the rest of the plants were fine). I planted the guillardia anyway as I thought it would "perk up" in the bed. It didn't; bit the dust instead, but one e-mail to GC and they responded by sending me a beautiful replacement. Great customer service!
I was VERY, VERY pleased. The packing was the best I've ever seen. All of the plants were in great condition and very large. In fact, I'd say that they were as large or larger than plants at the local high scale nursery. However, there selection is way better than the local nursey.
I would definitely order from them again and I highly recommend them.

I ordered 2 Echinacea's, "Sundown" which arrived first and in good condition just a couple of wilted leaves and 1 broken stem and "Twilight" which came about 2 weeks later on back order. It was not in as good condition as most of the soil had spill out and it was dry. It has started to come around now though. My only real complaint is they state 2-3 days ship time and it was actually 5 days to arrive at my home in Indiana. The shipping process started on the weekend and they arrived on Tues.& Wed.
The customer service is excellent as I did have a couple of questions and they were very prompt in their response back!

My "Twilight Echinacea" is still struggling as August 10, while "Sundown" is thriving and growing. Twilight is still a meager 11-1/2 inches tall with only 3 stems these plants are planted in the same bed about 4 - 5 feet apart and Twilight gets the most sun. I feel the plant will probably not survive the winter and I will be looking for a replacement plant next spring. If I happen to come across one locally before then It will be replaced sooner. On August 24th, 2006, nanny_56 changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following:
Wow! I was contacted through dmail that they wished to replace my "Twilight". I was very surprised but so happy. I love this plant. This was on the 17th. It shipped out late afternoon the 21st and I just received it about 15 minutes ago, the 24th.
The first words I said were "wow", "fantastic", " now THAT's a plant!" They absolutley surpassed my expectations. Shipping was much faster this time and the size of the plant
excellent. I am now a very satisfied customer!!
Thank you very much Garden Crossings & Chad!!

First time ordering from Garden Crossing and will definately NOT be my last time. The packing was superb, the plants practically bursting forth. The clematis is already almost halfway up the trellis as compared to one that I received from another company that is sitting still. I would highly recommend this company!!

I bought a ton of plants from Garden Crossings last year and they were absolutely beautiful, well packed, and promptly shipped. The plants were all larger and much healthier than expected (especially since I received my Spring Hill order first, YIKES! *It* was pathetic!) All my GC plants are doing VERY well and I fully intend on buying more from them. The plants are actually in better shape than what my local nurseries have! You can be confident that GC will send the best, right to your door. It's well worth it.

I think this company is outstanding. Although they may be a bit pricier than some other mail order places, for me it was definitely worth it. Their communication and customer service is excellent. The perennials I got from them were bigger than the "2 gallon" shrubs that I received from another company. The packaging was first rate with no plant damage and they did it without exceesive waste and NO annoying peanuts! I will definitely be ordering from them again.
I received my ordered plants from Garden Crossings today. I was very pleased. The plants were very well packaged and arrived safely. I was surprised at how large they were. They were around 10 inches tall and fully leafed out. A healthy green color. This is the first time I have ordered from garden Crossings. I have ordered many plants on-line and this is the best company I've ordered from so far.
I have ordered several times over the last two years and have been very delighted with their service and quality of the plants. I had one negative experience which cause me to make this a neutral rating. They sent me three astra pinks Platycodon. As usual they were in their 2 quarts containers but the roots system took up only the top 1/4 of the pot if that much. When i tried to remove the plant from the pot it separated from the rest of the soil. I called and was told that this plant has shallow root system. My question is why put it in such a big pot and charge for the dirt. I suggested mybe change the size of the pot for those plants that wont fill their std size.

Since my last posting I have ordered multiple other times. I can honestly say that they will try to correct any errors or mishaps with their shipments. All of their plants are healthy and should do well in your gardens. This nursery is one of three that I would rate as tops.

Just received my early spring order - the plants arrived in perfect condition despite the severe weather we've been having. I called to verify the acceptable temperature range for "cold tolerant" on the labels, and the customer service rep was very concerned to find out if they had arrived in good condition. What a great company!

i have been flower gardening for years and i have ordered plants online many times from some highly regarded nurseries. this was my first order from garden crossings. it arrived in simply excellent condition, it was packed perfectly to survive the transit. and, much to my happy surprise, all of the plants were quite large and growing nicely. i have never received such robust, healthy plants from anywhere else. the only thing else i can think to say is . . . WOW!!!
I placed my first order with this business based on some comments I read on Daves Garden and because they are located in my general area.
Aside from an initial customer service goof up on when to send my order (they sent them sooner then I asked and charged my debit card before I was expecting them to) the plants are top quality and were very well packed for shipping.
Plants are a little pricey but probably worth it.
Great selection of plants with new and interesting varieties not always available from other sources.
Thank you Garden Crossings!
All I can say is... WOW!!!!!!!! My order came today (on time) and they're incredibly large, healthy, beautiful plants, in better shape than I can find at my local garden store. I will absolutely order from Garden Crossings again and again and again!

By the way, I ordered three (3) clematis and (3) hydrangeas 'Quick Fire'. They have a great selection of hard to find perennials, shrubs and clematis. I can't say enough good things about them. I'll definitely be re-ordering from them!

My clematis plants arrived today in super condition. Unusually good sized plants and very healthy looking! The service and communication was terrific. A very friendly company who truly tries to do their best for their customers. I ordered a Roguchi and a Avant-Garde Clematis, two that I have not myself seen prior. It was nice to see some unusual varieties. Thanks Garden Crossing!
After reading the rating here, I placed a large order (over $600) with Garden Crossings. The plants I received are HUGE, better than the plants at the local nurseries and blooming!! VERY HAPPY customer. This is the only place to order perrenials on the Web. All of the plants were healthy and established with good root systems. Packagining was flawless and even FedEx couldn't damage it. They did not make any errors on the shipment and all 50+ plants were accurate and included. VERY VERY Satisfied. Customer support is excellent and everyone is nice and friendly. Would not hesitate to order from them again and plan to do so next year. The best company I have dealt with online. A+++++++++
Very impressed with the quality of plants I received and the care in which they were packed for shipment. The soil was moist, the roots were nice and healthy, the plants themselves were a nice size. I also, really appreciated the fact that I could check on the status of processing and shipment at any time. Everything was on time and smooth. I will definitely be a return customer.

This is my first experience with Garden Crossing and I felt confident when I placed my order due to the number of positive comments here. I was not disappointed.
I ordered a total of 13 plants (Heucheras, Coppertina, Sambucus, Amsonia, Columbine, Delphinium and Armeria). They all arrived very large and healthy looking. They were packaged very well and were not the least bit dried out upon arrival. I unpacked them, watered them and this morning I placed them in the flowerbeds. They look right at home with the other plantings.

I liked this company before I ever received my first order from them, because they allowed me to add items to a completed on-line order about one week later so I could combine shipping. I also e-mailed them a question about clematis, and they sent me a very helpful, detailed response.
They notified me yesterday that my order had shipped, and I received it today! (I'm live in Ohio and they're in Michigan, but I still think that's fast.) The plants are large, and in beautiful shape. The soil was still intact and moist. These plants don't even look like they have been shipped.
I will definitely order from Garden Crossings again. Their service and product are A+++
Received my shipment today and I am very pleased with the size and health of the plants. Packaging protected them even though FedEx did their best to obviously sqeeze a big box through a little chute :) I am a first time customer and will become a life time customer. The entire experience from ordering online to delivery was exceptional. You can not go wrong with this company.

The box was a little banged up on arrival--NOT Garden Crossing's fault. The plants inside were NOT banged up--and that's half the point of a good box: it can take a beating without passing that beating on to the contents.
A couple of the plants had a bit of freeze damage on some outer leaves, and that also is NOT Garden Crossing's fault, considering the Rocky Mountains and Wyoming are between their location and mine. I also asked for my plants earlier than is considered safe. It's still winter in the Rockies, so I'm not surprised things probably got a bit cold in the FedEx truck.

Three shipments later, with plants all intact (excepting that freeze damage, and expected freeze damage at that), I have concluded that if the box says "Garden Crossings" on the "from" label, the Fedex guys see that as "This is a rugby ball. Kick, drop and otherwise mutilate me". Fortunately, the packing inside is sufficient to prevent the plants from being damaged. Still--to the Fedex guys: You do NOT have to emulate the gorillas in the old Samsonite ad!On May 22nd, 2006, nevadagdn added the following:
All of the plants I received were at least 2-year-old plants, although after starting many plants from seed myself, I have come to understand that doesn't mean it will be a gallon-sized or even quart-sized plant, regardless of pot size. Nothing I received was pathetically small, even if the plants were sent in what I consider to be inappropriately large pots. Everything was, in fact, nice, large (for the age) and stocky. Even the freeze-touched plants are growing nicely now. I wonder what I won't be able to live without next year...On October 12th, 2007, nevadagdn added the following:
I just received an order of end-of-season plant sale offerings: everthing is healthy and well-grown. One plant has suffered a bit from heat and drought, but the damage is superficial (leaf edges on older leaves are crispy). The prices were very good, and even that slightly damaged plant is well worth the price. I'll probably order from Garden Crossings next spring. On April 25th, 2008, nevadagdn added the following:
This spring's order was very nice, although I don't think I'll order the "eco-plug" in future. For two dollars more, I get a lot more plant and a pot I'll use, use and re-use.

I can't begin to describe how pleased I was with the plants I received last year! (And I ordered quite a few.) I had also ordered from other online nurseries but none could compare with the size, quality, health, and packaging of Garden Crossings plants! It's like steak vs hamburger. I already placed my first order with them this year and I'm not even going to shop elsewhere. Oh, and the service? First rate! I am now a loyal customer, and you will be too.
Now that I'm starting to think about spring planting, I'm going back to the companies that became my favorites last year, and Garden Crossings is without a doubt number one on that list. I've given up on ordering from other sites that send the most pathetic twigs I've ever seen, over and over. Garden Crossings is the polar opposite experience - delightfully healthy plants, a great selection, reasonable prices....honestly, these are the most wonderful mail-order plants i've ever seen! Actually, they put most regular nurseries to shame as well. I am definitely a customer for life!

My first order from Garden Crossings arrived, and, wow! The scales have been lifted! I've ordered from many other mail order garden sites, but the quality of the plants (perovskias and phlox), the condition in which they arrived, the packing, and even the communication (a tracking number for online inquiries is provided) were far above anything I've seen before, even from other supposedly high-end companies. Even though they aren't the cheapest (but neither are they markedly expensive) they give excellent value for the money. Will I buy from them in the future? Definitely.
