A previous reviewer stated it's a hit-and-miss when trying to contact Perry, and so far after a combination of emails, phone calls and faxes starting from April 8, it's been 1 hit and 6 misses. My only reply from Perry was on April 12, in response to a fax. He emailed me to let me know that the Michelia alba I wanted was available but I would have to wait for warmer weather in May before he could ship, and if I wanted it I should send a PayPal payment. I emailed him back the same day saying I'd sent him a payment and May delivery was ok. No response but I figured there was lots of time for him to get back to me about order/payment confirmation and shipping dates, plus I could always reach him through fax.
On May 8 I tried to fax Flora Exotica to check on my order but the fax machine had been disconnected, and the number listed on the website didn't take voicemail. I've tried calling the cell phone but that mailbox is full. If it wasn't for the previous reviewer who received an order last month, I wouldn't know whether the company is still in business.
Mail ordering should not be this difficult. I hope I will hear back from Perry and get my order completed.

We are at the peak of mail-order season. Along with local events at the botanical garden, on Mothers' Day, and the growing of thousands of plants, it is hard to keep up with the work.
The email inbox will get flooded as soon as it is cleared, and the voice mail will get full quickly. The fax machine sometimes get disconnected from WiFi and has to be restarted.
Some plants are too sensitive to cold temperature to be shipped now. Even though BC and QC are warm, somewhere along the truck route still gets frozen temperature at night.

I purchased some seeds on 6/13/08 and paid by Paypal. The order went thru but I didnt hear from him via email or phone so I called a few days later and confirmed the order with Perry. About 24 days went by and I still did not get my order. I called him and he said he had not shipped my order because he had to dry some of the seeds. That seemed to be a long time to dry seeds but I was okay with it. He then told me he would ship out my order that week or the next week even though it was ready now. Well, it is now 07/23/08, 40 days since my order and still no seeds. I emailed him a few days ago asking for some information. He did not email or phone me back. The funny thing is that I even told him I was ordering thru him because he had a decent rating on Dave's Garden. This guy doesnt seem to be malicious. I think he is just very apathetic. I will probably get my seeds some day but I wont order from him again.

Your order was sent July 09.
The order was delayed because of the Egyptian Walking Onion bulbs. It takes time to dry the bulbs so that they don't get rotten during shipping.

Good packaging, the plants arrived intact and healthy. My rating would have been positive but for two things:
1) Of the four plants, only two were labeled. I checked the box and there were no tags or anything floating around in there, so it wasn't a case of them coming off during shipping. The two mystery plants had very similar leaves, so I had to do a lot of peering at online pics of stems to figure out which was which.
2) No planting instructions were included. While they're probably available on request, not having them right to hand was a bit of a nuisance.
