I ordered 4 different types of Dahlias, 1 type of Begonia, 3 different Oxalis, and received Ranunculus as my adventure pack. Customer service has been excellent! I was very pleased that the company mailed these early per my request. I wanted to get them started indoors. All arrived this past Friday and were the best looking bulbs I have ever received. A couple of the Dahlias had started to sprout in their bags. I put them in pots and they seem to be doing just fine. I will update later on anything else of note.

Before my order, I emailed EasytoGrowBulbs about several different types of bulbs and if they would be well suited for my area (So. Calif) and was very happy to get a prompt and thorough reply. They really know their stuff!! When my bulbs arrived, I was shocked to see how much bigger they were than those at my local nursery. I definately recommend these guys and will buy more from them soon...JT
The first time I ordered from this company, I forgot an item and had to make a second order a few minutes later. Upon request, customer service promptly (within an hour) combined the orders so I could save shipping and sent an updated email invoice. Kathleen in Customer Service also informed me in detail about a backordered item, and gave me several options about how I wanted the B/O handled.
The order shipped the next businessday (Monday), and arrived on the East Coast by Friday. One of the carpet roses I got sprouted new baby leaves within two days! And the Priscilla gladiolus are bigger, healthier, and more impressive than anything I've bought locally in over a decade of growing glads.
I've already made another order, and look forward to continued quality service from this company.

I have just received my 4th or 5th order with this company and all I can say is they are awesome!! Kathleen in customer service is wonderful always helpful and pleasant to speak with. You definitley get your monies worth from this company. Nice healthy large tubers, corms, rhizomes and bulbs!!
As a resident of North/inland San Diego, it's not always easy to know which bulbs will grow in my climate. I ran across easytogrowbulbs.com and thought, "perfect, someone who's local!"
I've placed 3 orders to date with this company and have always been happy. Their bulbs are definitely bigger than anything you could ever find in a big box store, and the prices you pay are low considering what you get. Place an order of $50 or more and they'll even throw in an adventure pack to appeal to your risk-taking side. Shipping is very affordable -- especially in this day and age when you can easily pay more on shipping than an order -- and everything always arrives in good condition with instructions.
There was one time when my order didn't ship when I expected and my email was answered very promptly with an explanation on the delay, and the box arrived without fail within a few weeks. I've only ordered bulbs so far, but just placed an order for some potted reblooming iris and have nothing but high expectations.
Some of my bulbs have been chomped by gophers, but of those that haven't, everything is growing beautifully. An all-white bed I planted last fall with calla lilies, anemone, and Leucojum is now going insane. I have never had such success with any planting before.
Found this place online, it was the ONLY place I could find the Shamrock Plants I wanted. They have excellent service. I will be back to order in the fall. One of the items got left off my order ( which may have been my fault as I added on some bleeding hearts after the fact) So I delt with customer service twice. Not only was the product shipped out right away, but Customer service was helpful, friendly and a pleasure to deal with, in a time where getting any service seems to be rare, having great customer service is refreshing.

On Nov 13, I placed my first order with Easy to Grow. I ordered two bare root hostas a royal standard and gold standard. I received them Nov 15, that was a plus, we plant lovers love when the delivery truck arrives.
I am a big, big mail order plant person, so I pretty much know what is a good deal and what is not. Well, when I received my two hostas, I almost fell over!! They were so low in price I was not expecting a whole lot. The hostas had three to four eyes each, they were like 2-3 year old plants. I was planning to pot them for now in small pots, but after receiving such large roots, I had to rummage around for a temporary pot large enough to put them in.
I recommend Easy to Grow highly, not only for their economical price, fast delivery, but for their exceptional merchandise. They have a new customer to add to their list who is very, very please and rates them A++++++.

I rate this .com on a scale of 1 to 10, a Super 10 !!! In the past 2 months I have placed 2 orders and each have arrived within a couple of days. The Bearded Iris arrived firm and plump, Extra Large, and with proper green trimmed leaves that were healthy (Not rotted out, mushy, moldy and withered/dead leaves that arrived the month before from the well known mail order company of J& # ) ...in other words easytogrowbulbs ship superb rhizomes! !!
My second order, that of Freesias arrived 2 days after my phone order was placed at 1(866) 725-5361. I was greeted by the delightful Kathleen. I had a few questions on the different kinds of bulbs that are offered by this company. She readily explained which variety of bulbs were best adaptive to my climate and yard exposures also descibed in detail the true color and scents of the each flower. By the way, the Freesias are the size of Kumquats...Extra Large, firm & unblemished.
Great selection, fair prices, and quick shipping. One of my bags of bulbs had only 9 instead of the expected/advertised 10, so I did send an email. It's not a huge deal, and overall I am still satisfied and will likely order from them again.

I've been trying to announce my excitement about Easy To Grow Bulbs since very late last spring. I actually ordered a tad late for zone 8 and was concerned that the delivery folks would drop the box in the hot sun and not try to knock or holler or find someone who might get them out of the sun before they rotted. The owner(a female, I had her name but lost it on a bad hard drive!) called me back within minutes of my submission and helped me figure out a way to determine when the tubers would arrive so I could be here to make sure they were cared for properly. The tubers arrived exactly when expected - I was even out in the yard when they arrived. These Dahlia tubers were the biggest, healthiest, most well packed tubers I've seen in all my years of growing Dahlias. I will never buy an important bulb or tuber anywhere else, not even locally. My only wish is that they sold ROSES too.
I recently placed an order for the dwarf calla lily. I was anticipating their arrival. I couldn't take it anymore and I ran to my local home depot to pick up some calla lilly tubers to plant in my garden. Since this was my first experience planting these tubers, I didn't know what the difference would be in health, size, weight from EasytoGrow Bulbs. Two days later I received my tubers from Easy to Grow and WOW!!! What a difference. The tubers I bought from Home Depot were the between the size of a baby carrot and a small ginger root. The tubers from Easy to Grow were huge. I mean gigantic. They were almost the size of a baseball if not larger. I am so thrilled with the health of their tuber that I can't wait to see how they will look in the spring. Of course, I am going to compare them with the tubers I bought from Home Depot. I will order from Easy to Grow Bulbs...again, and gain.

I ordered 18 Red Peacock and about 140 Dutch Iris. All bulbs arrived as they stated. They claim to only sell the largest bulbs and I can attest that they met and mostly exceeded their claim. The 18 Amaryllis I purchased are all the size of a large orange and in beautiful condition. I spoke at length with Kathleen, who I believe to be in customer service and she was terrific. A wealth of information, extremely courteous and an absolute pleasure to talk too. Oh yeah, I've gone the Ebay route and others only to receive bulbs that are small and not in very good health. These bulbs are by far the best I have seen anywhere. Great company, great service, great advice and I will do all my bulb shopping here! Thank you so much for your wonderful help and great products.....
I cannot yet attest to the vitality of the bulbs this company sells, but the customer service is outstanding. I made a mistake when I was placing the order online; they called me, asked for correct information and processed my order while I was on the phone. I received large and healthy looking bulbs two days later.
I have been buying from this company for the last year-and-a-half. I stumbled across their web site like one of your members, by accident. I used to go right by their location when visiting San Diego and didn't know it. Anyway, I have had nothing but outstanding service when ordering. Outstanding, knowledgeable, and prompt replies to my questions. Outstanding communication regarding specials or new arrivals, and most importantly I have received the best, most fabulous, and yes, again, outstanding quality of bulbs, cuttings and trees. I cannot say enough about Easy to Grow Bulbs. I recommend them highly. When you receive your order from them you will not be disappointed.
I ordered around 24 reblooming iris from this company, six different varieties of iris from this company. There was a shipping delay that was out of their control, about half of their stock took longer than expected to reach the correct size. And of course all of my varities were the ones that took longer.
Kathy offers a great customer service experience. I received every single variety yesterday. The company says the rhizomes are 3 - 5 fans. Every single one I received had a large rhizome and 6 + fans. I will always recommend them for reblooming iris. I order some non reblooming and some reblooming from C and T Iris patch and the rhizomes were whimpy compared to these.
I sent an e-mail to easytogrow.bulbs on 1/5/2007, requesting the address where I should return the merchandise I was unhappy with. (It had arrived at noon on 12/23/2006 right before the Christmas break.) "The owner" , never introducing himself by name, called me on 1/10/2007. He told me that it didn't matter if I was unhappy. Even if I paid the return postage ($70), he would not accept the return. It was an extremely disturbing phone call because no matter what I said, he was right and I was wrong. I decided to turn the matter over to American Express. I didn't want to speak to this man ever again. American Express sent him a fax on January 12,2007, requesting information about this transaction. "He" waited 18 days to answer the fax. His reply was "The customer did not return the items within the 30 days required". He lied to me on the phone and then deceived American Express by waiting until 30 days had expired to reply to them. Unfortunately by law, AmEx has to give the merchant 60 days to reply. He must have known this and used it to his advantage. I hope to spread the word about this company to all the groups I speak to as a master gardener.
I doubt this will ever appear on the web site. "He" does not to be found wrong. As you would find out, if you have any problem with the merchandise you receive.

This post surprises us (and other customers, too, based on incoming email here). We’ve pulled out and dug though last Christmas’s records, and talked with staff members; three staffers recall communicating with this customer. Records show the following:
• This order was placed one week before Christmas, late afternoon on 12/18. It was shipped out the following day and received by the customer on 12/22.
• Our guarantee asks that order problems be brought to our attention within 7 days. This notification policy ensures that 1) any problems are addressed quickly so customers get immediate resolution, 2) live bulbs/plants aren’t left in shipping boxes indefinitely, and 3) returned goods are not out of temperature/humidity controlled environments for more than a few days. The first contact from this customer was 13 days after order receipt.
• Returns must be received within 30 days. The customer never returned the goods.
• American Express determined that the customer’s claim was without merit.
We never are pleased with a customer experience that ends with dissatisfaction and are sorry this one turned out that way."

I received 5 3-packs of Begonia tubers this spring as a gift from my daughter. I had never tried this company's product. For my experience, the tubers were a bit undersized, and the eye development was poor or lacking in many bulbs/tubers. I planted them anyway. Out of the 15 tubers, only 9 got started. I called the company, but they said that since I had not ordered directly from them, but received the tubers as a gift, there was nothing they could do. I waited on the remaining 9 plants, and found that only 6 of them bloomed (As I write this, it is late July, and I have plenty of other begonias doing well). I picked up some late season sale tubers from another source so as to fill my blank spots, since I live so far South I have the advantage of a long growing season. These tubers, from another company, were more of what I expect in begonia tubers - larger with well-developed eyes, and EVERY single one from this company has already sprouted. I was brought up never to criticize gifts, so I'm not bringing this up to my daughter, but I will hint that sending me begonia tubers from California companies probably isn't necessary as I have my own sources

Even the sale specials I ordered were much better quality than I had ever hoped. Again, the BIGGEST bulbs I have seen! You cannot go wrong with Easy To Grow bulbs. This vendor is a great source for superior product and exemplary service.
I ordered 4 varities of glads, first, the bulbs are truely the biggest glad bulbs I have every seen in my life. I ordered 80 bulbs and only 1 was small and a little dry, but i still planted it. I got my package 5 days after placing order online. That was the fastest among 3~5 online shops I had bought from. Very well packaged with nice instruction. Their bulbs ARE generally bigger than the one I had tried before. Most glads bulbs are 2 to 3 times bigger than the one I got from a "Collection".
If all grows well, this will be the only bulb shop I'm going to buy in the future.

I have ordered from them at least a dozen times in less than a year and have yet to be disappointed. Every single bulb received was huge and healthy upon arrival and every bulb grew and bloomed its first season. Kathleen in customer service is excellent. Everything arrives in a timely manor and is neatly packed. Plus receiving the adventure packs is also a huge bonus. Another thing they offer is web specials, which is a great way to save money. I will definitely buy from them again and again. Easy to grow bulbs is my favorite mail order bulb site.
After having a terribly disappointing experience with Bulbmeister, I was hesitant to try another bulb company, but Easy to Grow Bulbs lives up to its promise on their website of large and healthy tubers, for that is just what I received from them. Sorry, but I can't understand how this company has received so many positive ratings. I placed a small order and only one item (Picotee Begonoia tubers) have performed (3 out of 3 growing well). The Yellow Roseform Begonias were 2 out of 3, but while started under identical conditions the two that sprouted are less than 1/4 the growth of the Picotee. One tuber was a complete dud. The Achimenes Ambrose Verschaffelt have had a zero germination rate (20 bulbs - nothing), and the 3 Tuberose rhizomes show no signs of coming out of dormency. Everything in my yard is going gangbusters as we had an early warm spring. This is the lowest success rate of any mail order firm, nursery, or garden center (or for that matter ANY) source of plants I've used. What is particularly annoying is their response to my e-mail advising them that their products had not performed to my satisfaction: they were happy that the Picotee Begonias had grown (maybe the fact that anything grew surprised them) and suggested that I continue to wait on all the duds. Never again. . . there are just too many alternatives where the company actually CARES about customer service and satisfaction.
On May 20th, 2007, americandragon added the following:
An update in response to the company's reply:
1-The initial e-mail response contained no offer to "make good" on the items that had failed to germinate.
2-Both the initial e-mail, the owner's phone call, and their response here are a bit patronizing in that I should have the common gardening sense not to expect any growth from these items for 6 to 8 weeks. As I explained during his phone call, my expectations were based in large part on THE COMPANY'S GROWING GUIDE on the website which stated for the Achimenes (item 4 under Outdoor Beds) "Sprouts will appear in one to three weeks" and for the Tuberose (item 4 under Outdoor Beds) "Roots and top growth will appear in a few weeks". He huffed and puffed a bit and stated that they would have to look into changing those statements, but if anyone wants proof, I saved them as dated PDF files on the day I planted the items, March 16.
3-As for his suggestion that I should not have ordered tropicals if I wasn't patient enough to give them time outside a tropical zone, please give me a break. I live in South Central Arkansas, Zone 7 B, not Minneapolis. We have had a fairly warm Spring. I ordered the Tuberose with the full understanding and expectation that in the fall I would have to dig them up and store them over the wenter, and I ordered the Achimenes with the expectation of treating them as annuals (i.e., if I liked them, I would reorder and replant each spring). The fact is that as of today, May 20, my results stand exactly as stated on my original post.
4-Here's something he failed to mention in his reply: as previously mentioned, I received a phone call approximately two weeks prior to the company's response post from someone identifying himself as the owner. We discussed my issues (he maintained that I had not given the items enough time to grow, still adament and unyielding on that position) and stated that he would send replacements for the items that had not germinated. He then mentioned that they were sold out of the Achimenes and I replied that he could substitue whatever he wanted. Now, more than two weeks later, I have received neither replacements nor any shipment information. At this point in time, I could go out in the yard tomorrow and find everything sprouting like mad, and an 18-wheeler could pull up with plants from the company and I would still never do business with them again. I no longer want replacements, no do I want to waste my breath talking to someone who does not follow through on promises.
In closing, for goodness sakes, it was a $7.95 package of Achimenes bulbs and a $9.95 package of Tuberose plus one of a three pack of begonia tubers that did not grow and needed replacements. What put the bee under my bonnet was the patronizing nature of the response and the sheer arrogance of the company in digging in their heels and refusing to budge from the position that there was nothing wrong with the items they sent. This is the ONLY negative review I have given, and I have ordered this year from a couple of the most reviled websites on the Garden Watchdog without these types of issues. Companies have to be judged not only by the successful orders they process, but also how they deal with their complaints. After the phone call, my initial irritation with the company was soothed a bit, but then reignited by their failure to follow through with the promise made on the phone, and the posting of their rather patronizing reply on this site.On Apr 29, 2007, Easy to Grow Bulbs responded with:

We have contacted this customer again, to follow up, but in fairness, it's worth noting that:
1. His email expressing concern was answered within 3 hours
2. The answer was a personal one not a form letter, which we avoid.
3. Our response was a multi paragraph note suggesting that since all of the bulbs in question are tropicals that prefer hot weather, he should allow a little more time for them to break dormancy and begin growing. With some varieties, 6-8 weeks is not unheard of. This situation is common with tropical bulbs, as Mother Nature works on her own timelines. The customer's tuberous begonias have already begun to sprout and grow, albeit at different rates for the two varieties, which again, is normal.
4. Our customer service rep finished her note with "Please keep me posted on their progress!" Instead, the customer notified us that he had detailed his dissatisfaction online and intended to inform members of his garden club of his displeasure. Of course, we're disappointed with this choice.
While we still feel that a bit more patience is likely to results in success, not everyone is able to give this. For gardeners who need immediate results, we suggest choosing non-tropical bulbs that tend to respond more quickly, especially in all but the warmest temperatures."
I waited too long to buy and order Dinnerplate Dahlias and in my exhaustive search last year I found Easy to Grow Bulbs. I sent them an e-mail asking when they'd be available and got an immediate and very friendly response. Kathleen told me she would let me know as soon as I could order them. Sure enough as soon as I could get them I got an e-mail. My inquiry was at the start of Winter and the e-mail was the start of Spring so it surprised me for sure. I made my order and received it in no time. I had a question on 1 of the Bulb packages I received and this too was answered quickly and resolved immediately. This has been 1 of the most positive experiences I have had ordering. Kathleen certainly makes sure the customer is happy and I would recommend ordering from them to anybody wanting a quick, easy and friendly experience.
I ordered from this company for the first time this spring. I got 12 Lilly of theValley and begonias to start. The begonias have all sprouted and look very healthy. Lilly of the Valley had been in the ground for about a month doing very poorly when I got a surprise shipment of 12 replacement pips and an apology letter. Seems they realized an error had been made by a supplier and rather than just let it go they flew in replacements from Europe and sent them 2nd day air to me. I was totally shocked by this outstanding and all too infrequent level of customer service. The replacement Lillies have been in the ground for 10 days and all have sprouted and from the looks of them will be flowering very soon. I will definitely keep this company in mind when ordering fall bulbs.
