At last---a company that actually delivers on its promises! As I told Rob, the service from his company was absolutely impeccable. I could not have been more pleased with the delivery or the shape of the plants when they arrived. I've already told several friends about Rob's business, and I won't hesitate to order again!
I ordered three hostas early in the season and Dave immediately got back to me to select a shipping date. I was notified prior to shipping and the plants arrived in perfect condition with NO damage. The hosta were nice size and had a large healthy root system. I highly recommend Made in The Shade Gardens as a source of healthy hostas.
The plants were extremely well packaged and are doing great since being planted. Their communications regarding my order were excellent as well. Shortly after planting, I emailed them with a question and received a reply within a couple of hours. I very highly recommend this company.
Just received my plants and they are beautiful. Hard to believe that 5 hostas ship in a US mail box, but they were wonderfully packed! I received regular updates regarding shipping and got them within 2 days of leaving Kansas City. Great job!
Hostas were shipped at the time they were promised. They even notified me ahead of time that they were coming. Plants were shipped priority mail. Plants were green and healthy on receipt. I am delighted.
Purchased some hard to find hostas from Made In The Shade. Their customer service was exemplary, and the plants were healthy, sizeable, and gorgeous! I am anxious to order from them again!

I visited Made in the Shade as part of a search for plants for my backyard collection. The selections, quality, existing gardens on the property and friendliness of the greeting were far beyond anything I have come to expect from a vendor.
The quality of the plants provided (I selected type, vendor selected items and prepared for pick-up) are excellent. They are already providing a pleasing border in the understory structure of my gardens.
E-mailed Rob asking him questions about proper care and placement of some the Hostas I was consideing. He responed quickly. After I placed the order they arrived the day he said they would and in great shape. I would have no problem ordering again.
I received a lovely Abiqua Gourd hosta with a wonderful root system at a great price in a very timely manner. Rob provides excellent customer service. I'll definitely be back.

I first found Made in the Shade this spring and printed our Rob's extremely useful Hosta list with prices. When I was ready to order, the process was easy and I was even told what day my hosta would ship. They arrived in perfect condition 2 days later. They are beautiful, everything I had hoped for! I'll be back!
Ordered 2 Mouse Ears hosta from Made in the Shade. Great little plants with huge root systems...the packing was so good and the shipping so fast that they arrived with their blooms still blooming.
I very rarely purchase plants by mail-order anymore because of some bad experiences. Made in the Shade Gardens are entirely different. My Hostas arrived in perfect condition and were good sized plants. When I went to the garden this morning they still looked great even with the heat we have had. I will certainly order more plants, just have to make more beds
My hostas were in perfect shape when they arrived. I was emailed when the hostas were shipped and was sent a follow up email to make sure that they had arrived and if I was happy with my order. Great selection of hosta too.

The plants I ordered arrived in great shape! Probably the best condition I've seen from any mail order business. They were carefully wrapped to retain their moisture and mailed in a carton that accomodated their size and safety in shipping.
The ordering process was very easy and the shipping was quick. I really liked the option of specifying when to ship. The choices of Hostas are fantastic as well. I will definitely use Daves Garden again! I recommend them to anyone building their gardens!
Great to do business with! Second year to buy hostas from Rob and they always arrive promptly and in great shape! Last year's are growing nicely. He has pictures on line that help with the difficult decision of choosing which ones to buy!
Packaging techniques for shipping are first class. Plants arrived next day after shipping in better condition than most mail orders I have received. Good communication with company. Highly recommended.
I have just received the Queen of the Seas. It arrived on time and in great condition. Both the price and the shipping charges were more than fair. Moreover, Rob followed up with a friendly e-mail. I have added a little bit of blue to my hosta garden, and I will cerainly go back for more.
Hostas where packaged very well & arrived in great shape. They were very good sized (compared to other places I have ordered from). Rob responded very quickly to my email. He also has alot of varieties I was unable to find anywhere else. Do not hestitate to order from Made in the Shade. I'm sure I will be placing another order soon.
The hostas arrived in excellent condition. They were packaged well and still moist. The plants look so healthy! Much better value than other purchases I have made from other commercial sites. I would have no problem purchasing additional plants from Made in the Shade
My daughter's e-mail question was answered within seconds. Large healthy plants arrived carefully packed.with no wilted or bent leaves. I am very satisfied with Made in the Shade service.

I am an expert at online shopping, but a total novice when it comes to online shopping for plants.
I relied on the comments listed on this board to find a hosta provider.
And BOY did I find a great provider!
When I initially placed the order, I let Rob (at Made in the Shade) know that I was having work done on the foundation of my house and wanted to know how to keep the plants alive until the foundation work was complete.
He suggested that he not ship the plants until after the foundation work was complete. A couple of days later, I contacted him and let him know when the work on the house would be complete and asked if he would ship then.
The work was completed this past Tuesday and late Tuesday afternoon, I got an email from USPS that my hostas had been shipped. In the midst of all the turmoil (and it was turmoil) prepping the house for the work, I had totally forgotten about the hostas I had ordered, but Rob hadn't! He was thinking two steps ahead of me.
I received the hostas yesterday and they are BEAUTIFUL! I feel like a new parent! I'm psyched to get them in the ground! Due to the three mature pecan trees in my yard, much of the yard is shaded for 90% of the day, and I am ecstatic that I've found a vendor who is more than capable and trustworthy to keep my shade gardens stocked with gorgeous hostas!
Additionally, I had several questions after they arrived. I shot Rob a couple of emails around 7:00 PM and had answers to my questions within an hour of asking. If only everyone that I purchased products from were as customer-service aware as Made in the Shade!

I ordered several hosta last September from Rob. The plants arrived beautifully and I planted them immediately. I had an issue with two of my hosta that I discussed with Rob and he worked quickly to resolve the situation to my great satisfaction.
Most definitely a reputable, caring company and I recommend them highly.
I recently received my first order from Made In The Shade Gardens and was skeptical on what I would find when I opened the box. I was completely shocked and overwhelmed at the pristine condition of my Hosta. It looked like I had just dug it up from my own garden instead of it being shipped from Kansas to Minnesota. Needless to say, I am very pleased & intend to order from Rob and his garden crew again.
