Great company! They sell starter plants (and are absolutely upfront about this) at low prices. When I had a question about delivery, they got back to me immediately - and on a Sunday, too! All of the plants arrived well-packed (I placed 2 orders so there were quite a few plants and no soil was lost in transit due to their way of packing each pot individually) and all were pleasantly damp and clearly labeled. They currently are offering free plants with minimal purchases and they included my selections with the orders. After allowing the plants to rest a few days, I planted them out in the garden (healthy root systems one and all) and they are doing great. Really a nice company to do business with - they carry many difficult to find plants - and I will definitely be ordering from them, again! 10 stars!

I've placed three orders with Wellspring Gardens and just love the variety of plants recieved for such a reasonable price. I prefer smaller plants from a nursery for a smaller price, and they experience less transplant shock and generally grow up healthier. The nursery also offers such a great variety of unique plants that are signifacantlly more expensive elsewhere. The orders are shipped quickly, and everything I have ordered has thrived, with the exception of a couple plants I've killed through neglect. The free plants are a nice touch as well. The free coffee plant I received turned out to be eleven seedlings, so I now have eleven coffee plants potted up and growing. I think this nursery definitely offers the best values of any mail-order nursery out there.
Pineapple pups, bay laurel and Venus flytrap arrived in pristine condition. Shipped on the 15th from Lakeland arriving in central Texas on the 18th. There was a layer of wet paper towel wrapped around the trunk, covering the soil and then carefully taped over that side to side. Variety labels were taped to the pots. That takes some time! Excellent products, service and price.
I have ordered from Wellsprings through Ebay. Very happy and pleasant experience! However, I will be ordering directly from your site from now on. I wasn't aware of the free gift offer until recently. Having said that, I will definitely order from you again! Thanks so much :)

Wellspring is my FAVORITE place to buy from. I've bought many plants in probably 10 years and always they have been shipped in wonderful condition, the prices you can't beat and the plants have always been 100% healthy. I have another order soon to be placed with them, only wish they would have more rare or fruiting varieties of plants but they still have a very nice amount to sell.
I ordered two banana plants and one elephant ear, plus one free elephant ear. The two banana plants arrived in good condition, and both are growing a new leaf. The elephant ear I paid for had two leaves, and one was yellowed, but it has since started putting out a new leaf. Both leaves on the "free" EE were yellowed, wilted and had to be cut back. I've had the plant for about two weeks now and no signs on new growth (China Pink EE). I hate to nit-pick about something that was "free", but when the free item is used as an incentive to purchase from a vendor, then the quality of the free item definitely matters. If it puts out new growth, I'll update the review.
Overall, however, the paid for plants were good. I'd definitely order banana trees again, but not sure about elephant ears.

Hello, I am sorry to hear you are disappointed with your Pink China; most of our plants are starting to go dormant which is likely what is going on with your Pink China. Different varieties will go into dormancy at various rates. If you check the bulb and see if it is firm it is still good, if it is soft let us know (send us an email and we will make it right). We never intentionally send poor quality plants even if they are free. Thanks, Wellspring Gardens"
I recently purchased more plants from Wellspring. I have purchased starter plants from them in the past and most of the trees are giving me fruit now. This time I ordered Elephant Ears and they arrived in great shape ready to grow. The unbelieveable part is that I got two completely free plants with my order. I would highly recommend Wellspring and Donovan.

I have ordered many plants from mail order companies and this was one of the best deals. I got several seedling coffee plants for 1 cent, ( they were in one pot), but I separated them and they are doing fine. Two ice cream bananas for the price of one a dwarf papaya and dwarf pomegranate. Total was $26.99 including shipping. One of the best deals I have gotten so far. All the plants looked very vigorous except for the dwarf papaya, it looked a little weak when i got it but I potted it up and I'll see how it goes. I e-mailed my concern about the papaya at 7:30pm and got a response less than 2 hours later from the owner, talk about a fast response! He said to let him know if the papaya didn't make it. I would definitely order from them again!

I received another order today from Wellspring Gardens. I ordered two plants a hardy kiwi and vanilla orchid. Shipping was very fast and the packaging excellent. Reasonable shipping rates as well. One minor complaint, the vanilla orchid was smaller than I hoped. That said, both the hardy kiwi and vanilla orchid appear very healthy. I would definitely order from them again.

I will order again from Wellspring Gardens.

I am very happy with the plants I received. I sent a couple emails before ordering to ask some questions and they were all replied to within the same day, usually just an hour or two after being sent. The plants were packaged very well, wrapped, moist, and fastened in so that they couldnt move, One does has a small portion of its tip broken but nothing bad. two of the plants are only about 2 inches tall but the others were around 5-8 inches and they all looked as healthy as could be. The roots are developed well enough to keep the soil together without any roots wrapping around. I will definitely be ordering from them again.

Donovan is so nice! I ordered on 12/26/12 , my plants arrived today, the delay is only because Donovan was so courteous as to wait until we had a warmup, (we had been in the 20's and below, today, we had a high of 46). I ordered a small order, just to be sure, I ordered, 2 coffee plants, 2 vanilla orchids, one bay laurel tree, and a truly tiny banana, they all arrived unharmed, and very healthy. I will definitely be making a very large order from them this spring. 100% Reccomended.
I usually don't write reviews but I was so impressed by them that I had to make an exception.
I ordered three carnivorous plants from Wellsprings and received them this Friday. The plants arrived without any damage and are very healthy. They have the best customer service out of any online nurseries I've ordered from and I was surprised at how quickly my order was delivered. I will definately be using them for all my future orders!
This is my first time posting a review on this site after using it for some time. My search for a plant (not seeds) of Strelitzia reginae "Mandela's Gold" led me to a listing on eBay by Wellspring Gardens after being unable to find one anywhere else. After reading the post I realized the plants would be on the smaller side but for the price it just seemed too good to be true. I bought my plant on August 20th and it shipped on the 24th. So far so good. It arrived today, the 27th. I cannot begin to tell you how absolutely impressed I am. This plant was very high quality! Beautiful green, insect-free leaves. Yes they are on the small side but I can easily overlook that considering the great price. In my opinion Wellsprings prices are an absolute steal! Then I gently pulled the plant out of its small pot to bare root and repot into my homemade potting mix. The root system was incredibly healthy with thick white roots. This plant was clearly cared for in a professional matter. I am very happy to have found Wellspring Gardens and I am sure I will be buying from them again in the future.

Hi everyone out there :)
I have been checking out the Garden Watchdog for years and was always too lazy to join the membership. But, I finally did so to give a honest and true opinion of the few companies I deal with mail order. Anyways, I have been dealing with Donovan at Wellsprings for a couple of years now and am here to tell everyone out there that they truly work hard to keep you happy and satisfied. They are great people with excellent customer service skills and will go out of their way to offer you the best of the best. This comment is NOT about one particular order, but over 20 or so orders. They dont argue you with about any issues you may have and often will ALWAYS send free plants if something goes wrong. Things are taken care of promptly, usually within minutes. Emails are usually returned almost as fast as I can type it and send it to them. They do not make and break promises or give you the run around like many of the other online nurseries. I only deal with a few others out there, like Four Winds Growers (citrus trees), Florida Hill Nursery, Wellsprings Gardens (other different tropical plants) because of many other bad experiences with other mail order nurseries. I wont name any of them, as it is not fair to them because I would never order from any of them again and it has been a long time since I did order, and hopefully they have fixed things for future customers. But, once is enough for me!!!! It is nice to have them as a reliable and easy to deal with mail order nursery. As a matter of fact, I dont even deal with any other company for many of their plants. They are always large, healthy and almost always thrive. But, as far as good points about Wellspring Gardens Nursery and his company, this is what you can HONESTLY expect:
*Cheap shipping (I see the shipping labels and the costs of them, and I usually order 15 to 40 different plants and I wonder how he even makes any money.
*Fast shipping (usually within 2 to 3 days at the very most, and many times within 24 hours)
*Friendly customer service
*Quick response times on any email or phone call (usually within minutes)
*Most importantly, big, healthy and disease free plants
But, I am not going to keep on going on and on, and I just felt it necessary to share my experience with them so maybe they can gain even more satisfied customers, of which he deserves. Give him a try, and rest assured you will be happy and hopefully add another good review for him. Take care everyone out there and happy gardening!!!!

After several more orders with Wellsprings Gardens I felt it necessary to add an additional positive comment for them. I received many excellent, healthy plants that are very easy to grow and all are doing fantastic. If you are wondering if they are a good company and if you should order from them, rest assured that you too will be very satisfied. D.B. runs an excellent online nursery/business and truly cares for his customers. Check out their rating on Daves Garden and it should speak for itself.
Thanks D.B. and Wellsprings Gardens, we will continue to order from you again and again.

I cannot say enough good things about this company. For the home gardener looking for plants that are unavailable in local nurseries, this is the place to go. Donovan Baltich shipped me the finest plants I have purchased online: healthy, well-rooted and perfectly packaged. Within 48 hour of being shipped from Florida they arrived to my doorstep here in Pittsburgh. I ordered first off of ebay then directly from their website. Everything has transplanted exquisitely and is growing better than anything else in my garden. I know this sounds like hyperbole but it is so true, I am so happy with this seller. For fifty dollars, including shipping, I received two varieties of gardenia, a dragon fruit plant, three types of jasmine, a loquat, a plumbargo, a kiwi vine, muscadine, african lily, rosemary and coffee plant. Shipping is 9.99 regardless of quantity, I couldn't help but notice they took a dollar loss with the priority box used at 10.99. I sent an email out around midnight inquiring as to when it would ship. That morning I received a reply by 9am directly from Donovan courteously answering and explaining what was occurring. These people must really care about what they do, I can't see how they make much profit at it. They have my business for sure.

I have mixed feelings about this store. First, the positives; The plants are very inexpensive and the shipping is quite reasonable. Most of the plants arrived very healthy. They are small, but given the price, that is to be expected. Donovan answered my email within a few hours of my having sent it and was very polite and offered to refund a sickly plant. The negatives are a small infestation of spider mites on one plant, heavy wilt on a Barbados Cherry, and what looks like a misidentified dragonfruit. Donovan assured me that dragon fruit often look different when they are young. The cactus I received has five ribs rather than the three my other dragonfruit plant (Hylocereus undatus) has and looks very much like a columnar cactus (like the 'San Pedro cactus'). All the pictures of dragonfruit seedlings I can find are three lobed. Has anyone else ordered dragonfruit seedlings from Wellspring? Did yours have more than three ribs? Did they turn out to really be dragonfruit? Has anyone seen a dragon fruit start out with, or just have, more than three ribs?
On May 9th, 2012, BeeznBearz changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following:
I really can't help but change this rating to a positive. I still can't find evidence that the cactus is a dragonfruit, but it's just such a healthy little thing. All the plants are so healthy and had such a well developed root systems. The sickly plant perked up after a few days and the mites have been successfully treated. I am thoroughly satisfied. I will probably be buying some carnivorous plants from them shortly. On May 20th, 2012, BeeznBearz added the following:
I ordered a few more items a week ago. Everything appears to be healthy. They did send the wrong plant. I ordered a sundew and was sent a pitcher plant instead without mention of the change. Still, the plants are lovely. It just seems to be their tendency to mix up one or two plants in the orders. Considering the price and the plant quality, I can contentedly live with that. I'll likely order again.

Today 3/8/12 I received my order from Wellsping Gardens. It consisted of 2 cashew seedlings, coffee plant, 1 dwarf pomegranate, 1 stevia plant and a rosemary herb bushling. To my most pleasant surprise all of my little trees were green and in the best shape I have ever seen. I was quite surprised at the size of the package which completely fit into my mailbox I expected a package at the door. They were all snuggly packaged and wrapped in the best of condition. I will be suggesting Wellspring Gardens to others and will use them for all my garden needs. I wish I could have avoided the experiences that I had in the past. My order arrived *very* quickly, and the plants look healthy. They're small, but for the price (which is *very* reasonable), they're fine. At first, I thought that none of the plants had labels, because their pots were put inside little paper bags, and there was nothing on the paper bags. But each pot had a tiny label under the paper bag (though sometimes hidden by the packing material and tape used to keep the soil in the pot).
