The website was easy to navigate. The prices are good. The shipping was quick, the packaging exceptional. I ordered 4 different varieties. All arrived in perfect condition, not even a broken leaf. The plants have been in the ground for about a month. They are all showing good growth. I will order from them again. Highly recommended!
This was a first time ordering from this company, although I have ordered plants online before. I was looking for the smaller variety hostas and New Hampshire Hostas had a good selection., The plants arrived quickly, all were very healthy looking and packaged with great care. It has been a unique experience; often I have had to nurse my online plants along before they had that healthy well cared for look.
I have had four orders in the past month - all have been handled precisely and in an expeditious manner. On the one occasion when I needed extra communication it was timely and helpful. A really good company!

As first time customers we were totally satisfied with the service we received! They found us a few T. Rex Hostas as a special request and those along with three other varieties we chose arrived 4 days later in perfect condition. New Hampshire Hostas was extremely helpful over the phone. I would recommend New Hampshire Hostas to everyone. The plants were exactly as pictured - single plants for large hostas and multiple plants for the smaller ones. The plants took 4 days to ship and were in excellent condition. They were still moist and not a broken leaf or loose soil in the package. I also sent an e-mail asking a question for comparison purposes and a recommendation on specific hostas. The response was prompt and to the point. It's very refreshing to get an answer that tells both the pros and cons of a specific plant, rather than highlighting only the positive aspects. A great company with a wide selection and good prices.
I ordered 2 Hostas a year ago and I'm thrilled with the results. That said I was more than happy to place another order that arrived today. The plants were very healthy,vigorous and in the ground at this moments. I'm sure we'll get the same results we did a year ago!
I have ordered from several other online hosta sources and is the best. (and now my favorite). I ordered 10 plants on Monday and got them on Wednesday. Great service! Also the plants are very nice and several of them are so big that they can be devided now. Great Company!!
If this is the 2nd review I have left today on New Hampshire Hostas, sorry. They have so consistently exceeded my expectations in terms of beautiful robust plants, exceedingly fine packaging, value and customer service. I consider myself a better gardener than a computer guru.....and they are among the best of the best.

I have just received my 4th or 5th order from NH Hostas, and would like to compliment Richard Merritt on the great website, reasonable prices and special offers, good service, and especially the quality of the plants and the careful packaging. Others have been more specific, so I don't need to be, but I join the very positive reviews for a company that cares about their plants and their customers.
My order of Ivory Necklace Hostas arrived Saturday, just 2 days after I ordered them online. I was amazed how carefully they were packaged; newspaper around the soil and leaves resting on more newspaper so they were not touching each other. I planted them today, Monday, and they look like they always have been part of my garden; healthy and beautiful. Thank you thank you!!!!
I just received my hostas I ordered to be delivered at the right time for my area... very pleased. The hostas came with small -med leaves on them (same size or larger as others just sprouting in my garden). They were carefully packed. The leaves were not smooshed or broken, as I have recieved them from other companies. I am very pleased with this company's customer service and selection. I could not find the kind of hosta's I wanted at my local store, so happy I can order quality hostas online.
This is the second year I order from this site. Hostas come in pots, which gives them a head start and lessens the trauma of transplanting them. Excellent quality, prompt service. Love them.

I just received and planted my first order from this company. The hosta's were the best I have ever bought. They arrived packaged perfectly and the order arrived when they said it would. What a great experence!

I have only been using mail order companys for a few years. I had been somewhat disappointed with a hosta order from another company last year, but wasn't sure I was being fair. Well, after my experience with New Hampshire Hostas I realize how inferior they were! These plants are luscious, beautiful, growing in lovely damp earth, and packaged well. I ordered one fern as well and it is all I could wish for. I can't recommend this company enough.

Plants were exceptional, in size and quality, I couldn't have picked better ones for myself.
Had problems with credit card ordering - no fault of NHH - and had a personal call within an hour.

Ordered several plants which only took three days after ordering to arrive. FedEx delivered to wrong address (frequent occurrence here) but neighbor redelivered the same day. Certainly not the seller's fault. High quality plants with about the best packing I've ever seen. Good selection online and easy ordering process.

Excellent experience. I was impressed from the get-go. Great website, wonderful selection. However, a company can look great online and have problems when it comes to order fulfillment. These folks were terrific. Five-star plus!
Good communication via email. Order was shipped fast and most importantly, the order was even better than hoped for. The plants were healthy, looked great and I was particularly impressed with the quality of packing and shipping. The plants were in superb condition. Nothing was damaged, the plants were fresh and looked totally great. No breakage or damage in shipping. The shipment (from NH to NC) was sent FedEx and the materials were nicely moist on arrival. I only wish that all online companies were so professional. BTW, I found the company by online search for hosta and had read NO reviews of the company prior to placing my order, so this was a serendipitous finding!! Communication: Richard was polite and quick to reply to my request to hold shipping off until my last expected frost date which was a full month after he thought. Shipping and packing: They used fed ex which I personally haven't had as much success with as UPS but I understand that my opinion is based upon many variables which can't be controlled by New Hampshire Hostas. The boxes did not seem damaged upon arrival and they were sealed and marked well. The plants were packed in a way that I did not expect, their 4 1/2 inch pots lying on their sides with either wads or grouped sheets of newspaper supporting and layering the pots. Each pot was wrapped in a plastic bag with a cinch or twist tie around the stems of the hosta to contain the soil. Moist newspaper was also placed on top of the soil in each container. Even at that, there was displaced soil in several of the containers, but not a big deal. I suspect it was the fact that they were lying on their sides that caused the soil to come out. Now, the biggest problem I had is that the foilage on almost every plant was damaged to some degree. The biggest problem is that the plants appeared to have been exposed to some frost judging from the tell-tale clear patches on the new growth and even some of the older growth. In my area, we had been blessed with several days in the 50s and 60s so it wasn't here that it happened. The baby plants that had only new terminal shoots were the most affected. In addition to the frost issue, several of the leaves were bent, creased, cracked and had rips due to the newspaper and the way they were lain in the box. I see that they get more plants in the box than the other order I placed with another company who sent the same amount of plants in two taller boxes, but it was definately at the expense of the foliage. Even the plants that had only tips suffered damage from the twist ties bearing down on the tips and causing rips in the tender foilage. But, one reason I love Hostas is the fact that they can take a beating and keep on going so I'm cool with some damage. I do not expect immediate gratification and I know as long as they don't die on me for some kooky reason, they'll be good year after year.
Plant condition: I've already mentioned the packing/shipping damage. That's really all there was wrong with the order. I didn't notice ANY bug activity which was impressive. The other company I ordered from had substantial damaging insect activity. These plants have been babied in my brightly lit bay window for several days now and they are doing fine but they are still bent and damaged. The clear patches from the cold damage are turning brown now. They'll be ok and I'll start to harden them off as soon as the conditions are right outside. Been doing this a long time so I don't have worries about their making it as long as there is no fatal unknown. Oh yes, every plant came with a tag. Thank you for that! I'm not THAT good that I know every new hosta by its new foliage.
Price: Well, I bought from this company partially based upon their good selection and their good prices. They have some really good deals on certain cultivars so it's worth looking carefully. Use the search box because it turns up more than their groups show. What really makes shopping here a good deal is the fact that they give bonus plants based upon your total order. You are not limited by plant, but by price of the plant. I am happy with the selection of bonus priced plants and I received two of them. Also, the shipping is 9.99 flat rate for your whole order. Even with a small order this is a fair deal. With a bigger order, it's a great deal, but keep in mind the way they pack things. Your going to get nice big pots and plants (I haven't checked the rootballs yet because the plants were stressed and I didn't want to put them through that) but they are bound to have some leaf damage because of the way they are layered on their sides in the box. Maybe this is why they can offer lower shipping. I ordered the same amount of hostas from another company and received two taller boxes and was charged about $30 but had absolutely no damage from shipping/packing. Just something to keep in mind.
Would I buy again? Yes, definitely. I might ask for a little later shipping date to avoid whatever cold snap happened between there and here though. The fact that they are damaged does not keep me from buying again because Hostas are tough, but it's something to keep in mind for those people that expect absolute perfection. And, maybe they will rethink how they pack stuff and come up with a way that will ensure less damage? No matter, I'll shop again. Thanks Richard.

They're all thriving despite this year's drought and are now carefully mulched for their winter sleep. Very impressed w/ New Hampshire Hostas... All of the plants have arrived in great shape and have ALL grown very well.... Website is very helpful (loved the classification ratings "slug-resistant", "sun tolerant", etc).... Selection was great... Excellent packaging for shipping and great turn around time.
