You can find 6 pack tomato plants for $ 1.98 at Menards, and 3 times bigger.
It was for the first time that I ordered seeds from this company. I was amazed by the great choice of seeds and ordered exactly what I wanted to try this year. To my disappontment instead of Early Goliath I got the seeds that I didn't order and don't want. I placed my order on January 10, and on January 15 they made a comment on their website that Early Goliath seeds are unavailable this season and they offer a substitute. OK, I understand that there may be problems, but why didn't they contact me and didn't ask me whether I wanted their substitute or not, or perhaps there was anything else that I wanted, or maybe I just wanted my money back. The worst that I don't like about all mail-order companies is that they cheat their customers sending them the wrong stuff. I am sorry that Totally Tomatoes Company also prefers cheating their customers to communicating with them. I am really very disappointed - wasted money and unnecessary stuff - this is my first and I am sure the last experience with this company.
The only seeds that grew as they should were for the Big Beef Hybrid VFFNtASt and I was totally satisfied. HOWEVER, I will never order from this company again.
FREE TRIAL GOURMET HEIRLOOM BLEND TOMATO: Horrible plants; some did not even look like tomato plants and no tomatoes to harvest.
WATERMELON, SOLITAIRE HYBRID: They had to send a replacement packet because the first pkg did not germinate inside the house as directed. By then, it was too late to start indoors so I planted directly outside. Nothing germinated again. They would not replace nor refund. I also planted a hill of watermelon that I purchased from Burpee, and they grew.
PEPPER, PETER, ALFREY'S STRAIN: Definitely did not grow as pictured. I kept them separate from other plants.
FREE TRIAL, PEPPER, GOLDEN TREASURE: I thought these had germinated, but I was wrong. So this year I am stuck with only hot peppers.

I read this thread and ordered seeds for my father for the holidays on 12.11, With 13 days to deliver the product (all seeds), I thought I was in the clear. However, we are now at Christmas eve and no seeds. I called TT and they didn't answer the phone. The message said they were closed. I emailed them, but I am sure I won't get a response until after the holiday. I am extremely disappointed. I now have no gift for my father, who loves to garden. I can't tell you whether the seeds germinate, as I can't even get them!
Beware of unadvertised treated seeds from this company!
I ordered some seeds on a Monday after spending ten minutes on hold. I was told that they would probably ship by the end of the week and would then take 5 to 15 days to arrive. I had no choice but to pay extra to get the seeds in a reasonable period of time. When the seeds got to me, one of the varities was treated with Thiram, a fungicide. Being a certified organic grower, I can't use them. Nowhere in their catalog does it say that they sell treated seed. When I told the operator my problem, she told me that their policy is to use untreated seed unless they can't find that variety untreated. No where in their catalog does this policy appear. She said that they could only get this variety treated for this season. The person who takes the order has no way of knowing this. The person placing the order has no way of knowing this. They offered to refund my money only after they send me an envelope to send back the seeds. Their internal policy represents a breach of contract with their customers. Beware of this company. They are not always honest with their customers.
2 years ago I ordered tomato and pepper "collections" from TT. I had stated that I wanted the earliest ship date which was approx. April 15. When May rolled around, I emailed them. A couple days later they returned an email stating that my order was in process. I then emailed again saying this was unacceptable as all of my neighbors were already planting their crops in zone 5. I hear nothing! Then during the second week of June (I think the 16th) a box comes in the mail from TT. By this time I'm furious. When I open it up and see the contents I want to explode. They say they ship 3"-6" plants. The very largest one may have been 3" but there wasn't one leaf to be seen except in the bottom of the box and the stems left were yellow and wilted. What a joke! I email them again with much complaint demanding a refund (nearly $50 for three "collections") and absolutely not a replacement. I finally get a check several weeks later. Just a check, no apology, no letter,not one word. Never again! By the way, I placed the order the first week of Jan. and they promptly billed my credit card. 5 and one half months to recieve a box of compost material. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!
I placed an order with this company april 3rd 2007, haven't seen it yet! In all fairness, i called them and the nice lady told me they were shipped on april 9th,(almost a week after ordering) and it would be 5 to 15 BUSINESS days before i receive them, that is anywhere between a week and a month from my order time, she told me that it wasn't bad for the 27,000 orders they were processing at the time. So, me with my big mouth, suggested maybe they should let people know about the backlog on their web site,what a concept. I'm eager to start my seeds, i guess if i were to deal with this company or it's sister companies again, which i won't, i should order in november so i can have the seeds in time for spring. Shame on me never again.
I placed an order online with Totally Tomatoes for 4 tomato supports and several packets of seeds on March 4, 2007. The package didn't arrive until Sat. March 17, and was broken open upon arrival. The seeds were not in the box. I called on Monday morning to report the problem (Mar. 19) and they said they would reship the seeds. I emphasized the need for an early re-send as it is late in CA for planting tomatoes from seed. They said they were busy, but would try. It is now April 5, and the seeds have not arrived. I called yesterday and spoke to customer support. They say the new package was mailed Mar. 27 (9 days after my call!) and should arrive 5-10 days from then. I expressed unhappiness with the slow shipping and was told that they are very busy at this time of year, and I should have placed my order sooner, for instance in Dec. The customer representative was very unpleasant and said she would "note it in my file" that I would not be a repeat customer.
I ordered a few packets of pepper seeds because they listed shorter growing times. 10 days later I am still waiting - how long can it take to put seed packets into an envelope? I'd have been better planting the regular seeds.

I received my order the week of May 7, 2005. I had ordered tomato and pepper plants. Upon opening the box and looking inside I was shocked at the condition of the plants. They were all more then half dead and were loosley packed. What shocked me more then anything from a company that is supposedly devoted to Tomatoes was the poor quality and size of the tomatoes. These poor things were weaned far too soon.
I called and spoke to a very helpful rep who stated that the company had been receiving alot of complaints this year and offered to reship the entire order. I agreed to this kind offer.
About a week later I received ther replacement order. The plants are still exceedingly small and very Fragile. I have planted some so far. One has already died and the others are barely clinging to life.
COmpared to what I have received from Burpee.. these poor things should NEVER Have been shipped. Burpee's Tomatoes are Big and stronge and VERY Healthy.
I am shocked that a company that promotes awesome products would carelessly ship poorly grown plants, packed haphazardly with little care and more then that.... to shop products that are so small and in such poor condition. How they manage to stay in business it mind boggling.
Will I ever order from them again?? When Hell freezes over!
I have also spread the word to my onling garden friends NEVER to order from them.
I feel so bad for the poor plants. This company should be ashamed of themselves for advertisinf great plants and ship out plants that are barely big enough to be called a seedling and in such poor condition. Gardeners CARE about their plants. THis company cares NOTHING about it's plants.
Totally tomatoes was a huge disappointment. It's really too bad - they seem like a good company in many ways, but BE WARNED: they offer some products that they just CANNOT deliver! The seeds they sent us were satisfactory - they germinated and grew well. But we also ordered quite a few tomato and pepper seedlings, which arrived in terrible shape. I've ordered seedlings and plants from other places, and never had any trouble. However, all of the plants we received from Totally Tomatoes were in terrible shape. They appeared to have been very poorly packed - almost all of them were not in their protective plastic casings anymore. Instead of seedlings, we got a bunch of wilty stalks, and a pile of leaves at the bottom of the package. If anyone is interested I have some very depressing digital pictures of the spectacle.
When I called, they were very nice about it at first, and said I didn't have to do anything and would receive a full refund. I would have asked for them to just send the plants again, but they said that they didn't think that the plants would arrive in any better shape than they did the first time - apparently they often have this problem! So, I planted the few that looked like they might survive, and composted the rest. Then two days later they called back and said that I had to return everything! I couldn't believe it! I explained that I had already composted most of the seedlings and thrown away the packaging, because of what they had told me before. No sympathy. So - to get my money back I had to dig through my compost and trash to find the seelings and packaging, dig up the other sad little plants from the ground (most had died, but a few looked like they might have made it) and send them back. They did send me return postage, which was nice, and were always polite. Still, the whole experience left me very unhappy. If they cannot reliably ship plants, perhaps they shouldn't offer them, or should have a warning about that! I had counted on them for the majority of my tomato and pepper seedlings this year! Fortunately, I was able to get some good seedlings from friends who had many extras. The totally tomatoes seedlings were very small anyway, so perhaps it was for the best.
In sum - order seeds from them if you like, but be very wary about the seedlings! Don't rely on them!
I ordered $150 dollars worth of seed upgraded to expidited shipping for 10.00 and it came 5 days later via regular first class mail. This company is dishonest with it's shipping practices. I have bought seed from them before and quality is not a problem. But they shouldn't charge extra to give you nothing.
On March 25 at approximately 11 PM EST, I ordered several packets of vegetable seeds from Totally Tomatoes website. On the site, they offer "Express Shipping" for an extra $10 (in addition to the regular $2.50 shipping charge). Being in a tremendous rush, I decided to pay the $12.50 for express shipping to Connecticut....this shipping cost me as much as the actual seeds! On the very same evening I ordered seeds from this company, I also ordered seeds from Renee's Garden, which ships from California....thousands of miles further away from me than Wisconsin, where Totally Tomatoes is located. I paid $6 TOTAL for priority shipping from Renee's Garden and had the seeds in my hand on March 29...2 business days time. On April 1, I still did not have my seeds from Totally Tomatoes. On both April 1 & April 2 I spoke to 2 separate supervisors from the customer service dept., neither of whom provided an acceptable explanation of why I paid an extra 10 DOLLARS for shipping and did not get the seeds in less than a week. I was told that the extra cost is because they sent out the seeds by Priority MAil rather than regular shipping. When I pointed out that priority mail costs $3.85 and asked WHY I had paid almost NINE DOLLARS more than that, I got the same answer...because I got a faster shipping method. Too funny! They said they could not place my order ahead of "thousands of other orders" ahead of mine... once again, I asked, "THen what was the purpose of me paying an extra $10 for shipping?" Can you imagine paying $12.50 to ship 5 packets of seeds from Wisconsin to Connecticut and not having it in less than a week? I can't. For $12.50 I could send an envelope of seeds OVERNIGHT by AIRPLANE across the country and have it there the next day. $12.50 is a disgraceful amount of money to charge for "Express Shipping" that takes as long as this for 5 packets of seeds to be delivered.
THEY TOOK OVER 2 MONTHS TO SHIP 4 ITEMS (3 SEPARATE SHIPMENTS). THEY SHIPPED SOMETHING OTHER THAN BEEFMASTER IN A BEEFMASTER ENVELOPE. IT APPEARS TO BE A BEEFSTEAK OF SOME SORT (FLATTENED RATHER THAN ROUND) WITH A FAIR AMOUNT OF CATFACING. I ALSO ORDERED SUN CHERRY AND HAVE MIXED SEED WITH A YELLOW PLUM (CHERRY) THAT I HAVE NEVER ORDERED OR GROWN. THEY NEVER HAD THIS KIND OF PROBLEM IN THE PAST.
FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH TOTALLY TOMATOES. THIS YEAR I ORDERED AN ORNAMENTAL COLLECTION, COLORFUL BELL PEPPER PLANT AND BIG 4 TOMATO COLLECTION. THIS WAS JANUARY 30! I CALLED THIS COMPANY NUMEROUS TIMES, EMAILED THEM, FAXED THEM AND EVENTHOUGH THEY CERTAINLY HAVE MY MONEY (YOU CAN BE SURE) I HAVE RECEIVED NOTHING TO THIS DATE! THE LAST TIME I CALLED WAS YESTERDAY AND I HELD FOR 1 HOUR AND I AM NOW INFORMED THAT THEY ARE OUT OF PEPPER PLANTS! (THEY ARE OUT OF STOCK) I ORDERED ON JANUARY 30!

Very bad germination. Celebrity tomatoes were at about 10%. To late to order somewhere else. We are a commerical grower so this will affect our sales volume. I've been ordering from T.T. for many years. While I've had some previous delivery problems I've stayed with them for their extensive selection. That is, until now. This year will be the last as they "broke the camels back". I ordered 1/21/03, check cleared 2/3/03. Contacted them, after numerous attempts, on 3/10/03 and was told my order would be "EXPEDITED" and should ship in 2 to 3 days. Called AGAIN on 3/24/03 was told order had shipped on the 3/21. Didn't receive until the 31st! Was once a dedicated customer... NEVER AGAIN !! NO EXCUSE ACCEPTABLE !! SORRY T.T. it's over.
I have been very dissapointed by Totally Tomatoes. I was impressed by all of their varieties, and excited to order seeds from them. Unfortunately, it has now been more than a month later, I haven't recieved any seeds, and they don't seem to be responsive to inquiries (no one answers their phone number, and they don't answer emails - even when posted to the web-site). They recently posted a message alerting customers that it could take up to three weeks to recieve seeds now, since they are experiencing a heavy load of orders, though this message wasn't posted when I ordered. I won't be ordering from them again.

I sent in an order to Totally Tomatoes around the middle of Feb., and 5 weeks later(March 21)I finally received my seeds. I am upset that no one answered my 2 e-mails, and no one offered any reason for the delay.
This is the second year I've ordered. Because they sent my seeds so late last year I ordered early (January 10th) this year. Received my seeds SEVEN WEEKS LATER after pestering them with three emails (the phoneline is useless.) I've been very disappointed with this company.
I ordered tomato seeds in late January. They cashed my check, but I still have not received the seeds on February 28th. I have tried calling for three days straight and all I get is a recording "all representatives are busy". Same result at HPS (one of their sister companies). I would exercise extreme caution dealing with this family of companies.
Last year this company had a fire , so I was aware that they had some 'NEGATIVE'issues! However I was sincerely
willing to give the another chance this year, due to the fire and what looked to me like a sincere apology for poor
service last year.
NO MORE I ordered seeds over 3 weeks ago emailed them and got a email back that said they were 3 weeks behind. Within that email they also said they would research the issue no response. I have a small personal greenhouse and I don't think I 'll get these seeds in time for the season here in Buffalo NY.

I had an incredibly awful experience with Totally Tomatoes this year. Thank goodness Jung Seed has purchased them! I have been a longtime customer but this year, I received TWO defective batch of seeds: Sweet Million and Super Cayenne III. They were to send replacements in late February, and I didn't receive them until mid April. I called three times for the status of the order during the wait, and the "supervisor" was so rude.
