The 2 clematis plants I ordered arrived exactly on schedule. They are both beautiful, healthy plants on very nice root systems. The plants were wonderfully packed to provide protection for the abundant top growth and to keep them moist. Dan provided great e-mail communication through every stage of the transaction. I am totally pleased with my plants and with Brushwood Nursery. This was my first order with them but it will not be the last.

I received 3 more clematis from Brushwood this spring. The plants, the packing, and the service continue to be exceptional. The plants I bought previously have all thrived and shown great vigor. I highly recommend Brushwood Nursery.

I have dealt with Dan at Brushwood innumerable times and on all occasions, the interaction was nothing less than stellar. His plants are a great value for the money and are ready to plant in your garden, unlike some other purveyors of clematis who send clematis that need coodling to make them survive. Dan is always just an email away if you have questions about your order or your plants or even just general questions about the plants he sells. Who could ask for more? Free shipping, great plants, and a winning personality!! Go Brushwood!!!
Wonderful company to deal with. The plants came in great shape. Healthy, vigourous.
I placed an order for a passiflora and a lonicera. After placing the order I emailed them to see if they could include a clematis. Dan emailed me back saying that they do not keep the credit card info and thus could not update the order. But he sent the clematis free of charge. That was very kind and unexpected.
Will certainly do business again.
I have ordered a number of plants from this company and they have always arrived very healthy with good root development. I received one clematis last year that turned out to be misslabeled. I didn't realize that is was not the correct plant until this year when it began to bloom for the first time. When I notified Dan of this, he promptly sent out the correct variety. An excellent company to do business with. I highly recommend.

I always look here first when I want to buy vines. I have ordered for a couple of years and the plants I receive seem to be healthier and bigger with each order. I like the flat price and size, and of course no shipping charge. Dan is always promt and helpful when answering any questions via E-mail. I think this is the only method of communication.
There are only a few mail order nurseries that I recommend to my friends, and this is one of them.
Plants arrived beautifully packed and healthy. Customer contact was cheerful and helpful. This is obviously a company that cares about its plants and its customers. I was very pleased with performance first season, but this second year, my Brushwood plants are thriving. The clematis is putting out its second round of blooms this summer in Massachusetts and the passiflora and aristolochia in my Florida yard have taken off. I will be ordering again this Fall.

Update: April 2007 Just ordered more passifloras. Plants are packaged extremely well, as always. The plants themselves look vigorous and a few even have buds. Had a question about shipping and Dan called me directly. Still an outstanding business!

Great plants and service. I was informed via email of order, status and when shipped. The link they gave to check on order showed you exactly what day the order would arrive.
It came on time, I ordered 2 Passifloria & Hydrangeavine.
Nice size and packed beautifully. All plants perky and moist.
I'm sure they will do fine.
I am 100% happy with them. It's nice to receive plants that are large and growing.

I purchased an akebia vine and a dutchmans pipe this spring from your company and although it has not died, it has not grown (either one of them). I planted the akebia in the same bed as another akebia from a different company, theirs is growing like crazy and yours is not doing anything. Roses and Clematis you sent me are doing great. Just puzzeled about the akebia and dutmans pipe.

I'm really glad you're satisfied with all of the other plants from our nursery! You're always welcome to contact us directly when you have concerns. We pride ourselves on great customer service. The Akebia 'Kohin Nishiki' is variegated and far less vigorous than the usual Akebia quinata. You may actually find this is an advantage in the long run. The Aristolochia macrophylla is most likely just settling into its new home with you. Once it gets going, it will take off and really look great! Try some liquid fetilizer and water liberally until it gets established. I've seen this species thriving right next to a waterfall in the Smoky Mountains!
I hope this helps you to enjoy all of your Brushwood plants and please feel free to e-mail me if you have more concerns.

I found Brushwood Nursery to be a great company to work with. I ordered a rose collection and was immediately notified by email that one of the items was out of stock. I was offered an option for a refund or a substitute rose (which I chose). The plants received were packed very well and arrived quickly and healthy. Thank you Dan, very much for the great plants, communication and service! I highly recommend Brushwood Nursery!

This is an excellent company. I received strong, healthy plants on time and in great shape. They were able to provide exactly the cultivars I was looking for at very reasonable prices.
I emailed them several times with questions about growing and pollinating and they responded quickly with the information I needed.
The passifloras have lots of growth and leaves. The clematis was at least a foot tall on arrival, and I think it has grown another foot just since I planted it, maybe 2 weeks ago!
It is nice to deal with a company that specializes in vines and really knows their products. If I find room for more vines on my property, I will definitly order again next year.
Thanks to Dan at Brushwood!
I ordered a clematis and a trumpet vine from Brushwood nursery May 12th, 2005. The plants arrived very healthy and packaged very well and I'm happy to report are thriving in my garden. I am very pleased with this company and recommend them to others.
I ordered a Niobe clematis and a Gelsemium 'Margarita' from Brushwood in early May. I received them exactly when I was expecting them, and they were beautifully packed - better than practically any other plant I've ordered. The gelsemium is going nuts already, and the clematis is fine as well. I will be back to order more next year, after I find some other places to let vines grow in our yard.

I bought 3 passion flowers from this company a few months ago.
They all arrived well packaged and labeled. They are all vining like crazy, one has produced a flower and is the correct flower for the plant I ordered. A second plant has a couple of blooms and will be opening in the next day or two and the third is close to budding. I feel confident enough that the last two plants will flower with the flowers I ordered. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for passion flowers.
I wish I had known of this company before!
Healthy, actively growing clematis were received. Multi-vines and already 12+".
This is the best quality and condition of any clematis I've ever received and the only ones already growing out of over 30 I've accumulated not counting the ones that haven't made it through the first winter.

Beautiful specimens. Large, healthy plants. Arrived on schedule via DHL and it is very hard to believe these were shipped rather than purchased locally. I ordered two clematis and a wisteria vine. All are planted and doing well.
The clematis were a little more expensive than other sources but you get what you pay for and these were especially fine plants. I just wish Brushwood was open for walk-in business --- I don't live far from them. But with this degree of quality it's really not an issue. I will order from them again and again. I highly recommend this company.

Got my clematis order yesterday and wow! I'm impressed. Nothing like the scrawny little clematis I've recieved from other vendors. Multiple woody stems and firm, hardened off new growth. Good email communcation and free shipping. I'll happily order again. Thanks Dan, for great plants and service!
Although I was a bit skeptical about what size plant I would receive,I ordered a campsis "morning calm" vine. I received the vine in 2 days(free shipping on everything)packaged well and in great condition. I must say I was impressed with the size, as compared with the one I received from Lazy S'S Farm and that one cost more. I have also e-mailed the company with questions and they have always been quick to respond.

I placed another order with Brushwood for a Passion vine. Although the price was a little higher than some places, the quality and size of plant has no comparison. They also offer free shipping on 2 or more plants, but even though I just bought 1 it was only $3.50. Exceptional company!
Last autumn I'we ordered 10 different vines from them. All of them are alive in spite of a very, very wet summer we had ,my clematis were flowering and a special note for clematis montana grandiflora wich is bushy 8 ' on top of my garage.
Clematis tangustica has a good run too was covered in yellow flovers all fall.
Very happy and if I need more vines they will be my choice.
Same if they ever decide to expand and sell other types of plants .

I purchased 2 clematis and a passion vine from Brushwood a month or so ago, for delivery in the fall. The plants came early the week they were supposed to arrive. Very impressed by the packaging, plants were in great shape! Would definitely purchase from them again.
I bought a couple of passionflowers (grandiflora and incense)from Brushwood in April. The plants arrived very well-packed; the plants were small and I was rather skeptical. I planted both in large containers and waited for them to grow; for the first two months they barely grew and sort of stood dormant. However, when summer came along and the weather heated up, they started growing way past the trellis that I had put up. I had to string plastic coated wires above the trellis towards the house to help them grow, and still they grew and grew. The incense is putting out so many blossoms and buds it is quite amazing to watch. The flowers are also beautiful and fragrant. I wish I had planted them where they could continue climbing unencumbered. I definitely recommend Brushwood Nursery for the quality of their plants and the wonderful customer service. I definitely recommend the incense passionflower for its large dark green leaves and free-flowering nature.

I stumbled across this nursery last fall doing a search online for a climbing rose I couldn't find elsewhere. I ordered the rose and also purchased a sweet autumn clematis at the same time. I was very happy with the healthy well rooted plants I received and sent an email asking if they had plans to offer more rose varieties in the future. I received a prompt reply thanking me for my business and informing me that they would be offering more own-root roses for Spring 2004. Indeed, their website has been upgraded, there are many more rose varieties (unfortunately, not the two varieties I was looking for, but a great selection nonetheless)and some rare passionflower varieties I hadn't noticed from my previous visit, or possibly added for this spring. Very reasonable prices for such healthy plants and shipping is free! I will definitely buy from Brushwood again and recommend them to anyone looking for choice vines or climbing roses.

I have yet to order from Brushwood (but will soon). I checked their site because of the high ratings on GWdog and liked what I saw.
Unfortunately, their site lacked some info, so I wrote them. Well, within 24 hours I received an intelligent, constructive response that not only answered my question but holds out the promise that Brushwood is getting even better.
My simply question and suggestion was to note which Passifloras are fragrant. Their response:
You're right. A great deal of information is missing on all of our plants. I personally hope to remedy the situation soon but the research involved has taken a back burner position due to some exciting changes that will appear son. We're in the process of converting to a new format for the site as ell as offering many new plants (several new Passifloras in the bunch).
Check back in about a week and see for yourself. I think you'll enjoy it! As far as the information, it could be a while before it gets to the site because our main shipping season is right around the corner.
We're also hoping to add many more pictures and growing instructions for all of our categories, but that's a huge project since we ship nationwide!

Plants arrived and are super healthy. Received a note prior to arrival that one plant will arrive later since they want to make sure it meets their standards which could not be higher. Pleased? Absolutely! Dan came through!
Passiflora arrived quickly and was well packaged (I love the bio-degradable peanuts!). It was kinda small, but is now growing quickly, probably due to the all the heat and rain we've had. A pleasant order, and I'll be happy to do business with again. Hope my plant comes again next spring!
Although the plant was small, they do offer a picture of the size of their plants on their website. Documentation was also very good.
