I was disappointed with this company. I placed an order in 12/06 for economy bags of bulbs. When I received the order confirmation, I noticed that full size bulbs were listed on my order, not economy bags. I contacted the company in 2/07 to find out that the economy bags were for a sale that ended in 4/05! I asked to cancel my order since the economy bags weren't available and the company agreed to do so. However, my order was not canceled, my credit card was not refunded and I was sent the full size bulbs. I contacted the company again and I was told to refuse the box and that my credit card would be credited that same day. I have been checking my account every day and my credit card still has not been credited and it has been almost a week.

The original order was placed by this customer for sale bulbs offered in April of 2005 which were no longer available. The order came through as 3 full sized bulbs rather than 3 bags of 12 size 14/16 cm bulbs which "badzoe" questioned in an email. I explained that the sale was from over a year ago but offered to make good with size 16/18 cm bulbs if she wished at no extra chaged in an email to her on 2/9/07. We overlooked leaving the sale listing in the table of contents after the sale was over. It had been removed form the active pages of our web site but becuase it was still listed in the table of contents, I offered to make good to this customer on the original sale price with larger bulbs. A copy of my emailed offer to this customer is available if anyone wishes to see it. This customer then contacted our office after her order had been processed for 3 individual bulbs as ordered. She did not take my offer of the larger bulbs at the sale price. I told her it was not a problem in canceling the order and did so in the order computer. The order had already been printed out and was in the shipping line up and during the shipping rush the cancelation was missed and the order was shipped. This customer contacted us via email when she received her order and was told by Dianna to refuse the package so that it would be sent back and that she would process her refund that day which was Satudray 4/14/07. Before the refund was made that day, a serious family emergence came up and the refund of $21.10 was not made by Dianna on 4/14 but was processed today, 4/19/07. This was a simple oversite in shipping that was complicated by a medical emergency delaying the refund by 5 days. To this customer, I apologize. With Dianna being out of the office, I (Bob) have been running a few days behind on paperwork. As of yet, we have not received the bulbs back that we were told were going to be returned."

My first order from B & D lilies arrived the other day. I was disappointed that some items weren't included, but thrilled that the reason was they didn't feel they were of a quality to send. The way they described them as sprouted is what i'm used to seeing in all of the box stores. They provided credit towards future purchase which i can't wait to use! The bulbs that were sent are in great shape and some of the largest i've ever seen. I'm very pleased with what they sent and i appreciate the fact the look out for their customers.

I recieved the 1st order last week and the 2nd order this week. All the bulbs were healthy, large and well packed. There was 17 bulbs in all, no substitutes, none were missing and all were labeled with name, color, height and bloom time. This was my first time ordering from B&D....if I ever need bulbs again they are one of the top 3 on my A+ list to order from!!

Their landscape packages are a fantastic deal (5-8 one or two fan plants for only a little more than a one or two plant cost!) but only available on the cultivars being re-set that year. Get on their newsletter list to know when they are re-seting fields and what cultivars.
I recently sent an e-mail with a question about a plant purchased last year and had a response the same day. This year I also purchased some lily bulbs and again found the quality and service superior.
I can't wait to see which daylilies are in landscape packages next year!

Having heard about the wonderful ratings this company had, I purchased around $200 worth of lily bulbs from this company in March. I was so pleasantly surprised to have recieved my order in perfect condition yesterday, that I broke right into the box like a kid at christmas! This company is great! Several of itmes had been sold out and I was shocked to have recieved 3 bulbs of other variety named varieties in my box! Some of the bulbs ( Dizzy and Triumphator) were kind of small, but over all I will buy from them again. I wish that next years order is as nice. Thanks B&D! Joey Pack
I love this company! I bought 18 lily bulbs from them last fall--all of them survived the harsh Massachusetts winter--and they are now covered in buds and over three feet high. The bulbs I received were the biggest lily bulbs I've ever seen--absolutely softball size--easily three to four times the size of the bulbs I received from another mail order catalog. I can't wait until they begin blooming.

The bulb quality was outstanding, and I even got a couple of their "exhibition" sized bulbs. They had to substitute (as I requested) for two Oriental lily varieties not in stock, with one due to a crop failure where bulbs came out in insufficient size. It says a lot about their integrity in that they refuse to ship bulbs that do not meet their high standards, because they didn't expect them to flower properly. Better yet, they substituted 9 bulbs (and two different varieties) to replace the 6 not shipped due to an inadequate crop. I also got two bonus "test" Asiatic lily bulbs to check out! I was very impressed, and also appreciated the included explanations for the substitutions, as well as tips for planting in my specific climate. I'll definitely order from them again.
I have had the honor of working with B & D Lilies over the past 6 years at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show and I can't say enough about the quality of their lily bulbs. Bob and Dianna have worked so hard to provide us with some of the best plants for our gardens. I'm always confident about every purchase and confident that I can successfully grow these plants with ease. Should I have any problems, questions or concerns they're there to assist and resolve any issue.
I will admit that prices for individual bulbs can be somewhat of an investment, but if you want superior quality, pest/disease free, trueness to type/variety, and great customer service. B & D is #1 in my book.
I am always curious about the statements companies make regarding guarantee/replacements for dissatisfaction etc. I ordered and planted an amaryllis belladonna from this company last year. When the plant did not sprout this spring and I contacted them they were pleasant and truthful about saying that it should have shown up by now and probably did rot. But when asked about replacement, they said they did not have any left, otherwords tough luck. My feeling is that a responsible, well intended company that would like to keep you as a customer should say sorry we are out and what can we do to offer you something else to keep you coming back as a customer. They did not.

Have had a couple of years of positive dealings with this company and have even left a positive review recently, but now have to revise to at least a neutral position. B&D lost my order placed in 6/02. It took several emails and non confirmation of receipt (despite my credit card being charged) to finally receive the plants this week. They look terrible. Very small and dry, not worth the price I paid. The Trahlyta daylily I bought from them in the spring also failed to even survive the summer - it too had arrived very small and dry. I realize poor weather all season is affecting many gardeners, but given what I have paid for my plants through this company I cannot help but to be so disappointed.
In the past B & D Lilies has had a problem with carelessness in order preparation. I ordered 12 daylilies from them in Fall 1999. Two plants were received with unattached labels and another label fell off soon after I removed the plants from the box. One of the labeled daylilies took a second year to bloom and when it did, it was absolutely the wrong color. When does a white variety become red, and I still don't the variety name. I won't recommend B & D Lilies to anyone.

I have no computer notes regarding your order; and three years later, any paper trail would have been destroyed for your privacy. I have learned me lesson this winter. I was surfing on e-bay trying to score on a good deal on some lilies. I was very disappointed with the little bulbs I receive. I will never ever swap B & D Lilies for E-Bay one's. The quality of B & D is excellent. HUGE BULBS!
I put in my first order with B & D late this winter - for daylilies - and received two very large, very healthy selections, and one bunch of three which seemed a bit scraggly in comparison - the entire bunch wasn't as large as any one of the other two varieties. However, they were healthy little guys and so I popped them into the ground, anyway, with plans never to pay as much again for questionable plant quality from B & D. However, I received an unprompted letter in the mail a few weeks later regarding rhizome sizes - apparently the owners of the company had been on vacation when my rhizomes and others were dug, and an employee "who should have known better" had cut corners. They were happy to receive my call and gladly replaced the rhizomes at no extra charge. A great company - well worth the investment!
B&D Lilies does have a "sale" every year at the northwest flower and garden show in Seattle, Washington in February of every year. Selection is limited but the prices of bulbs are less. Quality is still excellent.
I am very pleased with the quality of bulbs and service from B&D Lilies out of Port Townsend, Wash. I was so excited about my very first order, which came in excellent condition and so promptly, that I then cancelled an order with another company that had delayed an order I had with them, and ordered another batch of lilies from B&D. That order came in even quicker, about 6 days (and I live in NH!), and the bulbs were great. I'll know how well they grow next year, but I'm very optimistic.
