We've ordered from My Pet Chicken twice (2012 and 2013).
Last year 6/6 chicks were sexed correctly and thrived; 1 pullet died at month eight.
This year we ordered 14 chicks (only 12 for us). One chick was DOA, a second was ailing on arrival but survived, a third chick was ailing and appears to not be thriving, and a fourth chick died suddenly overnight. So, we are at 10 of 12 chicks surviving with 1 failing to thrive--I hope that the remaining group was sexed correctly! The last 2 are at another home and doing fine. While I am not happy with those numbers, I am very pleased to not receive an all DOA box!
My Pet Chicken makes ordering a variety of chicks quickly and easily possible. Order early for the best selection; we ordered in Nov 2012 for April 2013 delivery. Order carefully as changes are expensive. Customer service is quick and responsive. Chick prices are par for the course while shipping is a bit pricey as orders of less than 14 chicks are shipped via USPS Express Mail. While I would like to support a small farm and order straight run, I just don't want to be in the chicken selling business.
Overall, I recommend MPC with reservations to city flocksters.

I've placed orders with My Pet Chicken and their chicks are wonderful..they really are..very friendly and no DOA's - EVER! My only issue with them is their change fee policy. They charge $10 for any changes you make to your order - that in itself is not the problem..but they fail to let customers know that they regard a change, anything that they are able to do on their side..so let's say you want to add a chick or two to your order and the chicks are available - that's the point they consider the change successful...it doesn't matter if something on the customer side prevents them from completing the change such as a declined credit card..the $10 change fee is still applicable...this happened to us...as a consumer, I was always under the impression that a change is complete when the payment is successful...but not so with My Pet Chicken...as long as they can do the change you are requesting, this to them is a successful change and you are responsible for this charge..I feel they should make this clear on their website...
