On our first visit to Nearly Native we were treated to a tour of what a Georgia Native Environment would look like in times past. The gardens feature varities and species native to Georgia and the South East USA. The gardens have delightful depth of variety and visual interest. This means that the nursury specializes in varities that are well suited to the demanding Georiga climate.
In addition, we saw first hand a living botanical museum, with species grown by Native Americans like corn, beans and others.
If you are looking for a nursury that will help you to improve your understanding of how to garden in harmony with the "natural condition" this is the best place to start.
Retro with a purpose, please stop on by.

Nearly Native Nursery is about as real as it gets.....no foo foo just the goods. I looked all over for native pachysandra and finally found it at Nearly Native Nursery. they don't seem to deal in mass production just those hidden gems you probably have been looking for in your perennial garden. If nothing else they are worth the drive out into the beautiful Georgia countryside. they take all the time that you need to answer questions and they definitely know what they are talking about !....Highly Recommended !

We've been customers of Nearly Native Nursery for 10 years. They really are THE place for hard to find native plants including Franklinias, Big Leaf Magnolias, all sorts of Oak Leaf Hydrangeas, native palms, native and local cacti and more.

Two years ago, in D.C. at the National Botanic(al) Garden, one of the botanists there told us that most of the plants used in the 'native plants to the eastern seaboard' section came from Nearly Native Nursery. We were able to proudly say that we are also happy customers!

Being a novice gardener with a love for nature, I decided to create a garden with native plants to attract hummingbirds, song birds, and butterflies. I also liked the idea of helping to preserve some of our natural history. I researched Georgia native plants and compiled a list. I took my list to Nearly Native Nursery and Jim, the owner, spent a lot of time reviewing and discussing it with me. Since I was shopping outside the normal planting season, he suggested some "bullet-proof" plants which are doing well. I believe Jim has a pure love and appreciation for all things natural. This fall, I plan to expand my garden with plants from Nearly Native and I would highly recommend it to others.

If you have any interest in native plants this is the place to go. The plant selection is great and the people that work there are friendly and knowledgeable providing information on where and how to best grow your plants. I found a tree that I had not seen since my grandmother showed it to me when I was ten. Of course I bought one. I am a repeat customer for life. I just wish my yard was larger.

I ordered from Nearly Native Nursery for the first time this spring (2011). I was very impressed with their selection of native trees, and when I called to discuss what was available, they either knew or could readily check their stock.

They sent me three beautiful little trees, two over 2 feet tall from root to top, one over 4 feet tall from root to top ... all taller than I expected. I received excellent value for the price. The trees were all leafed out, healthy, had obviously been grown with love and care, and were carefully packed and arrived undamaged. Frankly, the little American Beech was so beautiful that it brought tears to my eyes.

I find it so much easier to dig holes for smaller trees and to water smaller trees than to struggle with giant rootballs from the nurseries in my area. Plus, Nearly Native carries a number of native trees that are really difficult to find, and I think it is important to try to replenish trees native to north america that are being lost, for one reason or another. So, this company is a fantastic resource for tree-lovers.

Finally, these people are really pleasant to speak with, and they definitely aim to please. I was desperate for a bitternut hickory, and the one they had left had a little trunk wound ... they emailed me a photo before shipping it, to make certain I would not be unhappy. This kind of customer service and honesty is quite rare today.

Drove an hour to see nursery in person, it was worth my time and I'll be back for more plants. Indeed, the onsite botanical gardens is quite impressive but will have to visit again since I didn't finish the tour. the owners who operate this native nursery are passionate & knowledgeable about native shrubs, trees, vines, and perennials and the like. The owners are very eager to assist one in choosing native plants for the right location, right lighting, right function and right soil & watering requirements. Absolutely gorgeous! Looking forward to Fall to purchase my first Amelanchier arborea in place of the overused, lifeless, weakbranched, boring, short-lived non-native Bradford Pear trees I see dotting all the lawns & streets throughout GA and probably other states : ((

Nearly Native received order 25Apr. I received plants 28Apr. Impressed with plant quality; healthy, blooming, great color. Very impressed with how they were packed for shipment, (even though I am 'local'); not too wet, carefully taped to prevent shifting, carefully wrapped to conserve moisture. Also impressed by the root systems, very good root system for size of top. Don't be afraid to order 1 gal. plants because you think they will be tiny ! They won't be. I will be ordering again.

I went to Nearly Native Nursery's web site, http://nearlynativenursery.com, and obtained pricing information and an order form. I had the order in the mail in time for the 5 P.M. pickup Saturday, 11-27-2010. I then went to Nearly Native Nursery's web site and sent them a message to save a chalk maple tree for me, since the order was in the mail. The tree was picked up by UPS at 6 PM on Wednesday, 12-1-2010, from Peachtree City, GA. It was delivered to my home at 4 PM Friday, 12-3-2010. The tree was planted before 1:30 PM on Saturday, 12-4-2010. Less than a week, by hours, from the time the order was mailed from the New Orleans area until the tree was in the ground. WOW! The tree was in excellent condition when it arrived.

I called Jim Rogers at A Nearly Native Nursery today just for information. Even though I wasn't placing an order at this time, he stopped what he was doing to spend almost 15 minutes talking to me about the care of hardy palms in my area (Eastern Shore of MD). I am a designer and plan to use more hardy palms, as there are a lot of waterside residences and business that are interested in the tropical look. Jim and his nursery are a wealth of information and, from what I've read here, excellent plants. Thanks Jim!!! We'll be talking again!

I first learned about these guys while searching Daves Garden for native plants. I've been haunting their website all summer, waiting for fall to arrive so I could plant more trees/shrubs. Today, I made the 50+ mile trek (one way!) from Holly Springs to Fayetteville. I spent probably $50 more than I intended to, but I am totally jazzed about my purchases and can't wait for the rain to stop so I can get them in the ground.

These guys don't mess around. They know their stuff, they're friendly & helpful, and I got there on a non-busy Saturday (amazing!), so they were able to give me undivided attention and listen to all my gardening dreams. From what I can tell, their prices are comparable to the big box stores, but they have a MUCH better selection, and the added plus of mostly native plants, so I know they'll do well in my yard.

Honestly, the only negative thing I can think of is that Fayetteville is nowhere near Holly Springs. That said, they're *well* worth the trip. If you're in the area, treat yourself to a visit there. And don't forget to say hi to the Macaw.

In 2010, I visited ANNN twice, both in the spring, and both times came away fully satisfied. I've had to create a spreadsheet to keep track of what I've already purchased from them, so I don't unintentionally duplicate anything.

When I added today's purchase, it brings me to a grand total of 30 plants I've bought from them in less than 2 years. All are thriving.

I needed a native replacement for a blue spruce that didn't survive our last summer. I got suggestions from friends, but nothing sang to me. So I emailed ANNN, and Debi got back to me with five suggestions. Three had been suggested by my friends, two were trees I'd never heard of before.

I fell in love with the Arizona Cypress (Cupressas Arizonica), Blue Sapphire. They said to give them a couple days notice before I came to get it. I decided to have them ship it instead (a round-trip visit for me is approx 110 miles). It came UPS Ground, picked up from their place last evening, and it was here before lunchtime. The packing amazed me, and thoroughly proected my new baby. It's now happily settled into its new resting place, and I have a sappy smile everytime I think about it.

Debi & Jim make the planning, buying, and planting process almost painless. The only point of pain I ever experience is when I have to stop myself before I overdraw my checking account.

Can't wait until spring when I can head down there again and come home with a car packed full of new "kids."
