Debi and her husband and their staff are experts on all types of vegetation. I was looking online for a "Harry Lauder's Walking Stick" and lo-and-behold, Nearly Native Nursery had one in stock...and, it was a quite well-established tree for the price. I am VERY happy with the purchase and look forward to years of enjoyment from my very interesting addition to my garden. Thanks, Nearly Native Nursery.

They were so helpful regarding a particular plant I was interested in and the risks of shipping/planting in my area at this particular time. I received the plant very quickly and it looked great. I planted it right away and love it!
Recieved plants in good condition.I called a couple of weeks later with a question about a cactus I had not planted and recieved a detailed voicemail one day later answering my question.Would not hesitate to use them again.
Not just positive, SUPER positive! Debi & Jim were GREAT both through email and on the phone. They had the Magnolia Ashei I wanted and shipped it to me in no time flat! Jim packages plants so you do NOT have to worry about them! "She" arrived safe and sound and was in the ground before the week was out! She is a nice healthy specimen that I will enjoy for many years!
I tell everyone that asks where I was able to find this hard to locate plant and the GREAT service they provide! I will definitely order from them AGAIN!

I have ordered by mail from Nearly Native a dozen times or more and the plant material is always well packaged and of the highest quality. I always look forward to the arrival of my order. I haven't found anyone better for hard to find, native plant material.

My experience with Jim and Debi at NNN was wonderful! I arrived, armed with a list of numerous species of wildflowers and shrubs for wildlife, and left satisfied with a car full of plants and a head full of new plant knowledge. Jim walked around with me for over 3 hours, past closing, discussing the plants I wanted, what would be appropriate for my yard, the best ways of transplanting, amongst many other topics. They have an enormous variety of plants, both rare and commonly found out in nature (but usually not found in nurseries). I am so glad I live so close to them, and I am definitely going back for the Fall planting season!!
What a great company! I didn't find their website until after their last shipping date. I live in zone 5 and am now just planting due to cold weather. I contacted them to see if I would still be able to order. They not only let me order, but I had my plants within a week! Their communication is excellent, the plants were HUGE, and well packaged. I can see why they are in the top rated companies on watchdog. It was the greatest experience buying mail order that I've ever had and I've been gardening for over 20 years! I will definitely order again next year!!! A++++++

I have been communicating with Jim for the last 5 years. I am in Long Beach, MS but visit relatives in Atlanta often. I tell Jim what I want and pick it up on my way home. His knowledge and advice have helped me to recover from Katrina and build a study collection of native trees and shrubs to share with friends, neighbors and scout troupes. I have let Jim know what I want for next year and he said he will have some ready by them. How can you do better than that! Thanks.
I had been looking for the spider lilly (sorry Jim don't remember that long REAL name you told me many times) for my yard makeover. I finally found the GREATEST nursery and Jim who was a great help. Jim talked with me way after closeing time and helped me find the right growing spot in my yard for my flowers. I was very happy with the shipping service and how my plants arrived at new home in Florida. They are growing well and happy. Thank you to Jim for your time and help. I would use them again if needed.

Jim took us on a garden tour and educated us about soooo many plants. We asked lots of questions about native species and how they would work in our location and shady yard. Left with great species and anxious to return soon for more.
I went down there to get a couple of native perenials for my wife that would bloom around mother's day. I got a good tour of the garden and a lot of help picking out two good ones. Worth the drive for anyone in the piedmont or anywhere else!
Ordered a magnolia macrophylla. Very nice plant, came in at a time I was very busy at work and didn't have an opportunity to plant it right away. My wife just stuck it in a 3 gallon pot for the time being. After a lot of heavy rain during the following week after arrival, I was surprised to see the plant has 6 inches of new growth on it that popped up since we got it. It's only supposed to grow 18 inches a year!
This was NOT a mail order transaction, but an on-site purchase. At least one of the owners has always been there when I have, and both are familiar with their stock. I enjoy browsing the location, as well as their plant catalog, but the opportunity to see things in a naturalized setting is invaluable, thus even if there's a long drive involved, you won't make a mistake coming. I found Iris Cristata that I've only seen in a catalog as well as some heirloom tomatoes - a combo that can't be beat. Prices are consistent with the quality of the plants and advice that you get from Jim and Debbie, the owners - local nurseries with the selection of plants that Nearly Native has are almost impossible to find, but worth their weight in compost.
Recieved my Tree ( Zanthoxyllum Clava-Herculis) tooth ache tree in wounderful condition and timing. I've been looking for this tree for many years. Hard to come by in the city. Thank you again for a wounderful experience.
I looked everywhere for callicarpa americana bushes found them at Nearly Native. They shipped me some beautiful bushes, well packed and in great shape when I received them. recommend unconditionally. marjorie
I ordered a very rare tree- Stewartia malacodendron. I have been looking for it for several years. The tree came very well packed, and is a very healthy looking plant. I am extremely pleased with the entire experience.
Visited them yesterday looking for sweet shrub not only did they have them the information was more than i could have ever asked for. so nice to speak with such wonderful people that care about the customer and the plants they sell. a definite place to visit and buy. look foward to my next trip
Last week I was looking at the Nearly Native website and was going to order a few plants due to the good reviews here on GW. As it turns out, I had a meeting I had to attend in Atlanta over the weekend and decided to go by instead of ordering online.
I was very impressed with the nursery and the plants. As I walked through, every plant I saw looked healthy. They have a beautiful woodland garden to the side of the nursery as well. It is not as big as some nurseries I have been to, but their knowledge and selection impressed me. I was able to get the plants that I was looking for although I did make some last minute changes to my list. In all I got a fringe tree, florida flame azalea, orange flowering tea olive, and a redbud tree. (of course my 7 year old daughter had to buy some annuals as well). The root systems were perfect, sufficient healthy roots that were not root bound.
I haven't dealt with their mail/internet ordering system as of yet, but I would feel confident in ordering from them after seeing the offerings at the nursery.
The only suggestion I would have for them would be to redesign their website. It is somewhat hard to navigate, and doesn't give an overall polished appearance. That could scare away some potential customers.
What a pleasant surprise finding Nearly Native Nursery - walking onto the grounds for the first time Saturday was like nothing else we had ever experienced. Jim and Debi were like meeting old high school friends and the nursery was amazing. Jim walked us thru the gardens explaining the different plants, and where most nurseries we have visited sometimes made us feel "not plant smart and overwhelmed" - Jim made us feel quite enlightened and patiently answered every one of our questions, even if we asked it several times during the garden tour. Can't wait to get back to Fayetteville for another visit - Tony and Karrie Crow, Carrollton, GA
I just received the plant I ordered, and I have to mention how beautiful it is. The Cyrilla racemiflora is just a gallon size, but the plant itself must be close to two feet tall already, and is well-branched, and full. I am very happy with the surprisingly large, and healthy plant I received.
Great source for hard to find native plants...I picked up 8 plants on new year's eve and planted them right before temps dropped below freezing for 10 straight days. All plants survived the cold fine and are now growing great. Best selection of native plants I could find anywhere around.
These guys have a FABULOUS selection of hard to find plants! I was very impressed with not only the healthy top growth but especially the care taken of the roots. these roots were full but not the least bit bound! I usually have to tear roots apart, despite the shock, to ensure long term health. Not so with this company. The plants I ordered took off like a marathon winner with the jump start Nearly Native Nursery gave there roots. I have tried many mail order companies; this one takes the cake!
Visited on March 24, and came away with lots of plants and a head full of information. Jim knows a tremendous amount and shares it freely. The selection is stunning, with dozens and dozens of things you just don't find in other places.
It's well worth the trip, and we'll be back over and over....
Great experience with this company and will gladly do business with them again! I ordered three flowering shrubs from them: a Maple Leaf Viburnum, Oakleaf Hydrangea, and an Oconee Azalea. The package arrived quickly and all plants were in great shape. They have an excellent variety of plants, many of which are extremely difficult to find. Highly recommended to everyone.
Nearly Native Nursery is a pleasure to do business with. Communication prior to and during the shipping process of the plants was exemplary, as was the packaging of the plants (in fact, one of the trees had sprouted during shipment). They were extremely helpful in deciding which plants and trees would do well in my growing zone in south central Florida. I cannot say enough good things about these people, and will do business with them in the future (will be ordering some dogwoods in a year or two when the current shipment of trees can provide shade).
What a fantastic experience at a local nursery. Both Jim and Debi went out of their way to make us feel welcome and valued as customers. As I was making some plant selections, Jim spent time with me to make sure that what I thought I wanted was, in fact, the correct plant for me. I will return to this nursery as often as I can.
Quick, friendly service. A good source for hard to find native plants. I have placed two orders with this company and I am positively impressed with the quality of the plants. The plants were packed so they arrived with no damage.

I am lucky enough to live within driving distance of Nearly Native. If you are ever that way it is a must see. Jim took the time to explain the different Native Azaleas and which ones would work best in my area. If you do make it by, take your time and look at every plant that he has on the property. I find something new everytime I go there. Thanks for the knowledge and the great natives.

Nearly Native is great. They were kind enough to spend two hours talking to me (on and off) about various native plants and butterfly host plants when I visisted their nursery this week. They are VERY knowledgeable and helpful. They have a great variety of native plants and their prices are reasonable as well.

This is one of the finest mail-order nurseries in the US. I spoke with the owner who couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. The plants I ordered were reasonably priced and they arrived on time. I was also impressed with how well packaged the plants were, and they were also in excellent condition.
Don't hesitate to buy plants from A Nearly Native Nursery.
Nearly Native has become my favorite plant nursery. They offer a large and varied selection of native plants, many unusual and hard to find. In addition, the various planting areas throughout the nursery offer ideas for new ways of gardening in Georgia. The enthusiastic and delightful owners make a trip to the nursery a real treat.
Nearly Native was a fantastic find, thanks to Dave's Top Thirty for the lead. Their website is extremely helpful. A huge selection, plus lots of information to aid in selection. (I placed an order by mail and am just finding out I could have recieved personal help by phone; Nearly Native is sounding better and better.) The trees arrived well packaged and labeled. They seemed to have been field grown, then root pruned and placed in a container to condition them for shipment.

Nearly Natives has been a great experience. Their customer service is the best, I was a pain by changing my order and being generally confusing but they handled it fine. Plants arrived well packed and quite healthy. They were also not pot bound or strangled in any way. Their selection is outstanding including hard to find plants I have been looking for to use in my habitat garden. In the future when I am shopping for specific plants I will consider Nearly Natives a first choice of nurseries to buy from.
