I have run the Vesey's flower bulb fundraiser at our school (both spring and fall campaigns) for the last 4 years. The product is always fresh, the bonuses generous (extra bulbs to plant at the school, garden books), and have only had one customer tell me their plants did not come up in those 4 years (I suspect she didn't wait long enough for her caladiums to come up). Vesey's have requested feedback from their fundraising customers and they acutally listened and made improvements to their campaign last year. I also order from them for my own personal use.
I have been ordering seeds from Vessey's for about 4 years..Great selection and they grow well.
Last year I tried perennials in the spring (2001)..They didn't look very good so I notified them and they credited me immediately..I decide this year to give them another try with the perennials..A friend and I went in together on an order and everything arrived fresh and alive..Growing great now!!!!
I've dealt with Vesey's twice and both times have had less than satisfactory results. While the run of the mill bulbs have performed well, I've had absolutley no luck with their lily stock -- a handful of plants bloomed from well over 100 bulbs planted. I've had much better success from Valley K's stock whose bulbs are sizably larger and therefore thrive better.
Also ordered lentin roses from them (on a whim) and the plant stock arrived moldy and Vesey's was basically unresponsive to customer service call.
A great company to deal with. Excellent catalogue with abundant varieties, excellent, fast service, no problem with money back in rare situations where plants don't thrive.
We've dealt with many over the years and always have stuck with Vesey.

I deal with this company on a yearly basis and have always gotten top quality product. They also have fundraising offers where you make half on the bulbs that you sell, so if you are looking to raise money for a non profit organization check them out.
Quality product. Usually thought of as for northern gardens. However, we in the Southwest are "short season" gardeners also; opposites of the North. Excellent varieties available for all short season gardeners. Nice catalog that has substantially grown & developed over the years (due to obvious success) and improved offerings. Good service, prompt.
As an Islander I can say that any of the seeds which I have purchased from Vesey's, has always done well in our region. I followed the footsteps of my father when he was growing his gardens in the Gaspe region with Vesey's Seeds (no easy task considering the weather and such) and he always had very good luck and now I have the same luck only better because the growing season is much more favourable in P.E.I. A loyal and happy customer.
I have been very pleased with Vesey's. All the seed, both vegetable and flower have germinated very well and is thriving quite nicely in my garden. As I live only a couple of hours from their main office I visited there recently. What I found was a helpful staff, impressive trial gardens which you could tour at your leisure and a very informed assistant manager who cheerfully answered my many questions. I'd recommend to anyone to get a hold of this company's mail order catalogue, and if you're visiting Prince Edward Island to stop by their store in York.
My family has always ordered from Vesey's for vegetable seeds. Now that I have my own garden, I've started ordering from them. The vegetable seeds germinate in no time, and the flowers all came up just like the pictures promised. This year, with their splashy new catalogue, I ordered three times as much stuff. Not just for Canada's Maritime provinces: anyone in Canada and northern US should take a look!
I am a Maritime Canadian gardener, and have ordered from Vesey's for 16 years. My experience has been consistently good with their product, and when there has been a glitch in the order, they responded positively.
I have wasted my money on seeds from my region. They haven't matched Vesey's seeds yet. For short seasons like the ones we have in New Brunswick, I think their seeds are what we need. They grow wild. I am buying from them again this year.
At the suggestion of a satisfied neighbor, whose judgment I put great stock in, I ordered both flower and vegetable seeds from Vesey's. The germination rate was 100%, and the quality of the resulting blossoms and veggies top quality. The only problem? The trailing nasturtiums weren't! I will order from them again next year.
