Heirloom Purple Hyacinth Bean Vine Seeds Outstanding color and overall appearance, a true treasure in a garden. I got my first batch of these seeds years ago. They are heirloom seeds purportedly originating in Thomas Jefferson's gardens. As you can see by the photographs, everything about this plant is beautiful, the leaves are dark green. I love the the dark purple stems, the purple seed pods - even the seeds are beautiful, a nice rich dark black with a white stripe down one end. In mid- to late-summer, it blooms like sweet peas with small pink and white flowers and eventually produces long, maroon seed pods. It is also drought-resistant and can be easily grown for trellises, arbors, fences or walls. This is truly one of my favorite garden plants.
