Up for sale are 50 seeds (per packet) of a very unique heirloom pea "Golden Sweet." Originally, this variety was collected from a market in India. Unique may not be the best term for this as one could also call this downright strange which is why we carry it. Not your ordinary edible-pod snow pea, plants produce a heavy crop of lemon-yellow pods from start to finish if left on the vine to dry. Very versatile, this variety can also be used as a dry soup pea. If left to dry, just soak the peas overnight and cook them the same way you would any ordinary dry bean. Not only are the pods a rarity, but the seeds will turn heads as well. Seeds are tan with varying amounts of purple flecking. Pods are best when eaten small, just as the seeds barely begin to swell. They can be eaten fresh off the vine, in salads or are excellent for stir-fry. The flavor is sweet enough that I had to chase my wife out of the seed production block while she was getting a snack! Plants will grow to 6'. 60-70 days until harvest. Paypal is my preferred method of payment as it is free. A personal check is also okay for small orders, but I will wait to ship until I have payment in hand. Shipping is $1.50 per packet. This covers the actual cost of postage for first class mail as well as the packaging of the seeds (padded envelope). If you order more than one packet, just add and additional $0.25 per packet to cover the additional postage. This goes for any other varieties I have posted. |
