Penstemon pinifolius 'Shades of Mango'™
'Shades of Mango'™ Pineleaf Beardtongue
Description:
15” x 15” wide (cutting propagated) The Pineleaf Beardtongue is one of my favorite species. So I was thrilled to discover “Shades of Mango”[tm] when it appeared in a group of seedlings a few years ago. It is the result of a cross between the large orange P. pinifolius and “Mersea Yellow”. The soft orange flower color is-you guessed it-like that of a ripe mango. The plant is similar in habit and growth rate to “Mersea Yellow” and enjoys the same growing conditions. The soft mango flowers are shown to best advantage when planted with blue and lavender flowers like Lavenders, Scabiosa “Butterfly Blue”, and Veronica allionii. Zones 4-9.
