Preying Mantis egg cases ordered3 ea fresh mantis eggs $.99
11/20 received 4 egg cases (postage was $3.37 in bubble envelope)
this batch hatched prematurely in closet; 2/16 reordered Amazon (Free/gift card)
When the praying mantis lays its eggs, the eggs will be enclosed in a case for protection. These egg cases can usually be found hanging in branches or attached to tall grasses. It would usually take between 3 and 6 weeks before the eggs would actually begin to hatch.after temps have been in the 70s for a few weeks in the spring, A very interesting fact about these egg cases is that one case can hold as much as 200 to 300 baby praying mantises once they hatch.
If you plan on using these egg cases to be used in your garden, it is necessary to enclose the egg case in a small container with holes in them. This will prevent birds from eating the case and killing the eggs.
The eggs love to be in warm yet humid weather. But some people refrigerate the eggs to prolong the hatching of the eggs
3/4 placed cases in grass in 2 places to let nature take its course.

Landlubbers and NOLO usageLandlubbers have begun to hatch during last week of April. I am going around sprinkling NOLO on each colony that I find. Will it do any good. We'll just have to wait and see. Have found information that better time to apply it to older insects.
November 2014 NOLO seemed effective in reducing population during first season of use.
It is important to note that the most obvious results may be seen the season after your initial application. This is due to an overall decrease in egg laying capability and infection of the new spring hatch.
Follow-up applications, each year grasshopper populations are on the increase, are useful to continue this process.

SnailsFound a new reason for concern I have been aware, for years, that slugs were going to be a constant battle.
This morning I found a population of snails on the leaves of my daylilies. Never seen this before.
Found 4 on one clump of plants. Squashed them.
