Shrubs and trees: The azaleas are in full bloom now. Blossoms from native plum trees have been out for several weeks, as well as the native haws. Dogwood trees in full bloom. Really good year for them. The Redbud trees are winding down blooms, and the leaves are coming out. I still can't figure out the native tree with the spikes of white blooms....what is that? That started blooming in February, different individual trees at slightly different times.
Also: camellias are winding down now, started blooming in February...maybe around the second week. And the shrub outside the great room has been a mass of blooms for three weeks. Grr....name, name.
Plants: Pansy plants and blooms are still looking good, but will start to wind down as the temperature increases.
Spekelia is in full bloom, looks great. The nun orchid has fat buds coming up, still several weeks from bloom.
Oak trees are getting ready to bloom (arhg). Lots of weeds in the lawn.
Gerbera daisys have their first flowers up and out....started maybe a week ago. The winter didn't damage them at all.
Daylilies are leafing out. Black-eyed susans, cosmos and blanket flowers seedlings are up.
Native phlox are starting to bloom. I sure wish I could get them going along the driveway.
