Love this plant. It is a show stopper in late summer, just when hydrangeas are in full swing so are these in my front garden. It has added great curb appeal. Picked it up for 1 dollar at Lowes one fall day, because we love bargains.
We have learned about its habit ever since. The trick is to not ditch in spring when it looks like a stump of dead twigs..be patient as soon usually end of may in RI, it starts to send out green shoots and grows FAST after this. GROWING AND GROWING until in August you get the surprise.
We planted in our yard that faces west and full sun all afternoon behind a small evergreen shrub.
