Eastern Screech Owl (Megascops asio)
Hi Margaret! I think I posted others of it's family members, too! These birds are not afraid of me so I have the opportunity to get really close to photograph them. They are in my yard, unfortunately, because of rats that come into my yard at night to eat the leftover birdseed. Ugh! I think there may be more rats than the owls (or daytime Hawks) can catch. Eek!
I could use a few owls here to catch my rats. My cat gets a few.
gardenpom - My cat would love to catch a few rats, too! But she is strictly indoors due to the bobcat and racoons. :-( I may have to live trap the rats. I am sure I won't catch them all, so there will be some left for the owls and hawks. :-)
