Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Nice! Enjoy the day and we look forward to your new pics!

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Just today, along the beach
I strode in flurrious cold.
the prints of my boots
in sand remembered steps,
as icy wind hit my face
its traveler,,, white flakes.
""")))))((((((((...............
upward I smiled at this piece
of time recorded in my mind.

Helena, MT(Zone 4b)

oooohhh. I like that.

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Nice word painting there, Soferdig!

Helena, MT(Zone 4b)

Where Is It?
The mountains there are Rocky
The game they play is hockey
Powder makes for happy sport
Gardening season is too short

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I espy only dirt
not a flake or speck of snirt

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

LOL!

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

You guys are great!

Centennial, CO(Zone 5a)

Last weekend's snow is almost gone
That stuff that fell so thickly
It brought some moisture for my lawn
And came and went so quickly

Helena, MT(Zone 4b)

Nice!

Santa Fe, NM

That was good, Lisabees!

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Excellent!

Centennial, CO(Zone 5a)

Now snow does not stay long in Denver
The way some folks maintain
We have them fooled you must remember
We're firmly on the plain

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Droughtish sigh
I say O My!
Will I see snow?
I do not know.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Rain and clouds have blessed this place
All through the week the sky showed no space
Tomorrow it cools and snow is planned
The white will cover the granules of sand
Winter is here and we all can't wait
To get out sleds, skis and especially our skates!

In Telluride where we will ski
they have a new test of ability
A skating rink for those who dare
I used to skate but now I'm scared!

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

No worries for snow
Sunday will be wet again
Then sunshine prevails

(I kinda like haiku)

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

I like Haiku, too
it took some thought to learn it
then it is easy

Santa Fe, NM

Haiku is fine
But, I like to rhyme
No snow here
Just clear sunshine

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

forecast was for snow
it is warm and sunny now
I guess they were wrong

Centennial, CO(Zone 5a)

Flakes fell this morning
but not one stuck on the ground
wrong forecasts are good

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Most excellent haiku lisabees!

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

What is the rules with Haiku. So many syllables or what in each row.

Santa Fe, NM

I think it is 5-7-5. The last line is supposed to be kind of surprising.

A complex form poem
Looks deceptively simple
Coffee is needed

Helena, MT(Zone 4b)

Had your coffee yet?
sleepy eyes, gray sky, bare branches
time to try treacle instead

Santa Fe, NM

I thought treacle was jam?? I did have scones with butter and marmalade.

Helena, MT(Zone 4b)

My attempt at Haiku turned out to be Kahuna (5-8-7).
Treacle is pre-molasses. Not quite molasses, 'cuz not that dark.
I put a link on that other thread that's going this morning.
Get the impression I could use another spot of tea.

Santa Fe, NM

I thought my count was off! It seemed a lot like 5-7-5.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Oh boy! Kahuna!
Five, eight and seven syllables!
Something new to try to do!

Albuquerque, NM(Zone 7b)

Jude, Jude, oh Judy.
Eight syllables is too many
For the middle line to hold

Helena, MT(Zone 4b)

Now it is evening
After countless cups of tea
Haiku I can do

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Haiku flows better
off the tongue and through the brain.
I like rhyming too.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

OK I can say,
You all have a different way,
Haiku is too cruel.

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Although it is quite interesting that if you read those past three haiku poems in order, they almost seem to rhyme with each other. A hybrid, I think. Though let me say, I am not recommending that we try to emulate this quirk of nature, that would be (at least for me) far too difficult. But naturally occurring, it is very fun!

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

It's contagious!

Helena, MT(Zone 4b)

Jude & Dave, your Kahunas are very witty & subtle, I must say!

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

I love reading all this stuff, guys, and thank you for it, but am too mentally exhausted to even think of rhymes and haiku!

Helena, MT(Zone 4b)

You're welcome, PJ
My morning brain is Kahuna
My evening brain is Haiku

Albuquerque, NM(Zone 7b)

Haiku is for fun
Kahuna is for everyone
Post a poem on the wall

Centennial, CO(Zone 5a)

Thanksgiving will soon be upon us
With turkey and stuffing and pie
And family gathered around us
To eat not too much we will try
