Nikon D6000 focus difficulty

Fallston, MD(Zone 6b)

I am finding it very difficult to focus close up with this new camera. The manual focus is a real pain and isn't much of an improvement and using scene mode is no better at all. I get better pics with my old Coolpix 2500!!
Any suggestions????

Probably just not used to it (yet). There is a minimum distance you can focus the lens so make sure you haven't gotten past that point. If that is the case you might consider a macro lens or other add ons. Also you will have some movement focusing close using a hand held camera - consider a tripod or put the camera in burst mode and shoot many pictures and hope one comes out sharp as a tack.

Thanks for the advice; maybe I'll try a macro lens.
What a great shot of the bee. Is he on a Campanula??
Here's one of my bee shots from my old Coolpix.

Try your normal lens first before rushing out for a macro lens. You won't get super close up shots but you should be able to crop down and still get a great close up (that's what I did above).

The bee was on a Vitex (Chaste tree).

Thanks again.
