Need to put a password on my computer

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

How can I do that, so that when you first turn it on, you have to sign in with a password in order to use the computer.

ASAP please.

Don't know which operating system you have but, for my vista:

Control panel

User account

Create a password for your account

You can also add or change the picture which comes up when prompted for a password.

thanks it worked. I appreciate the fast help and sorry for not saying what my operating system was.

What OS are you on? If you are on Windows, there are several ways to change your password.

I assume you are not on a domain (local user only) so you can to User Accounts under Control Panel or right click on My Computer and click on Manage and go to Local Group and User Accounts. You can pick the user and then Change Password.

The other way to do it is press CTL+ALT+DEL simultaneously and click on Change Password for the current logged in user. This is for XP and Windows 7 (slight variation but basically the same procedure) and works for domain users too.

I got the password on my computer now, thanks for all the help.
