Amazing Mutabilis Rose
What is blooming in Dallas in MARCH/APRIL 2011
Sheila shared poppy seed with me a couple of years ago. I am hooked. Threw the seed absolutely everywhere last October and now being rewarded with a Field of Red Poppies. I have friends who will come to see them when they could care less about the other plants I pamper. Also threw out Giant Larkspur at the same time. They overlap with blooms. Last year I let them stand until the seed pods dried and they simply cut the pods off and let them fall. Pulled up the spent plants and started again. I rarely buy a plant. Seeds are way too much fun and more dependable. Definitely cheaper. 100 seed for $1. Or someone like Sheila who shares.
I also got my seeds a few years ago from Sheila. I save some seeds to toss out in the fall, but I also sprinkle some seeds around in the spring. This year, I had poppies sprout in my back flower bed and my veggie bed. LOL
I am glad to know you both have them going strong..incase I ever run short! LOL!
I found some blue eyed grass in the yard today. I love those little birdies!
Also found a random morning glory vine. I pulled it up - guess I can bring that to the swap if anyone is interested. :/
My peony poppies just beginning to bloom in a field of larkspur in the wildflower gardens
poppies and larkspur are a wonderful combo! I also have bachelor buttons that grow dependably from seed
Yes, I'll toss them out the same time I toss out my poppy seeds.
best prices and availability on seed from Texas source "Wildseed"
This Peony Tree bllomed for the first time yesterday ... between 100mph wind and rain aaahhhhh
So I did this snapshot ...
The flower must be at least 20" large ... seriously ...
oh no wrong picture ... Those are my Purple Martins ...
Here is the Peony
Here what I was able to save before the wind and rain distroy them yesterday.
My house smell so good !
This Bearded Iris is a funny one ...
somebody gave me this ryzome and this is the first year that is blooming.
All the blooms are curled down ... could it be the rain and the wind ... or maybe it is in the Iris's DNA ... I dunno
Strawberries ... race is on ... who pick them first: me or the pill bugs?
Nice iris and peony, but it does smell good. Looks like you added a bit of mint too. On the one turning down, I had one that did that. It was beginning to open and we had two overcast windy days, thought that might have confused it.
I did have a surprise yesterday morning. A Foxglove that had gotten trampled last year and didn't bloom, came back. Has a couple buds!! Protecting it better this year. It also appears to have spread.
Spiderwort is doing it's thing. Some don't like it but I think it is a great plant.
Nice iris and peony, but it does smell good
OMG my all house is so fragrant ...
are you sure that those flowers are Foxglove?
Here are mine from last year ...
Well, dang!......frost nipped off all the leaves from the rose of sharon and the crepe myrtles....got some iris buds, don't know yet what will still open..strong winds blew the door off a storage shed, and a arbor covered with coral honeysuckle is laying on it's back....I had hardly any leaves yet it just sets things back a couple of weeks, and after I was getting all excited
Georgeous pond Sharon....hopefully the frost will be a distant memory soon.
I have a few iris showing their colors.
This one is 'Jesse's Song' I believe from Patrob at RU.
DrThor....it is also the one that bent over when it first bloomed. Now these blooms turned back up. They and the bud between are on the same stem.
This one noid but was at one time.....it is a very dark almost black. However in the sun it has more color to it.
Last one for today.....The Texas Betony is looking fresh and healthy.
That was what I was told...guess I need to put them on the id forum.
BTW, previous post I meant to say "bet" it does smell good.
Took a few out front just now.....Meadow Phlox
