CLOSED: Sock, Sniff and Sip Swap for January, Pg 2

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

Hello everyone. We came from here:

We have had a pretty good sign-up for this thread and I am really excited. The thread will remain open for sign up until 8:00 a.m. on January 10. Swap buddy names will be assigned, via dmail, on
January 11th. Swap boxes are to be mailed out by January 31st. Please read below the guidlines for this swap:

This is a thread for a new swap to be held in January 2012. A New Swap for a New Year! :-) This is a person to person secret swap, with each person given a buddy to send to.

The SOCK could be anything from warm fuzzy socks to wind socks. Any type of sock would work

The SNIFF could be anything scented such as candles, bath items, good smelling food, etc.

The SIP could be any type of beverage to sip such as coffees, teas, hot chocolate, wine (hmmm), etc. (Please be sure if you send something liquid, that is is packed well in bubble wrap, so it does not break!) You could also include something for your buddy to sip their beverages 'from'.

Participants are to make a list of some of their favorite things they would like to recieve and also anything they prefer not to receive. (example: I am allergic to oranges) Please include your sock/shoe size on your like/dislike post for the socks. The sending buddy can then use the list to help in putting together their buddies box. You are not required to include every item on someones list, this is just a guide.

I need everyone to send me their address by d-mail or let me know you are in the address exchange. Any participants that I do not know will be required to contact me by d-mail with your name, address, e-mail addy and phone number. This is to ensure that everyone that signs up participates. If you seem to be out of pocket for several days, I will contact you by d-mail. If not successfull, I will phone to see if you still desire to be in the swap. We all know things come up and sometimes someone needs to withdraw, and that is fine, as long as you have not already received your box from your swap buddy. I need to have some way to contact you so your partner will not be left out. I appreciate your understanding on this. Please be sure your DG memberships are paid up through February 15, 2012.

Limit for the swap will be $20, not including the cost of Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation.

If you are interested in this swap, please indicate interest in a post. Sign-ups will be through January 10, 2012 and swapee's assigned shortly thereafter. Boxes are to be sent out by January 31, 2012. Please send your delivery confirmation number to me when you mail your box.

New threads will be started as needed, so please check in once in a while to be sure we have not moved and you not moved with us. Threads will always start out the same as this one, with something other than 'Interest Thread' in the heading. New room numbers/links will be posted at the end of the previous thread. If you lose us, you can always go to the Groups, Swaps and Round Robins forum to find us.

I'm looking forward to doing this swap and hope everyone else does too. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Thanks for the new thread, Patti :)

Thanks for the nudge. ^_^

I'm glad Bass is going to be ok.
I have Fibromyalga also. And Psoratic Arthritis. I don't do well in the cold or extreme heat. I would like to know how many with Fibro also have/had thyroid disease.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Robyn ,funny you say anything about the thyroid ,I have nodules on mine some hot ,some cold.Truthfully I am WAY past due to have another radioactive thyroid scan done.Guess I have been putting it off because I am soooo very sick of doctoring and NEVER getting any answers.I have too many white blood cells, too many platelets and will run a low grade temp .They even took bone marrow at one point because they swore I had leukemia ,thank God I didn't .But still have no idea as to why the blood is like it is.This past fall they found a lump in my breast and had to go for all that testing including a core biopsy ,that dragged on til a couple days before xmas to come back as just a fiberous lump, thank God again. But all the testing is very costly and nerve racking ,to in the end have no answers !!!! And one thing about the fibro is you never know when you are really sick or just having a flare up !

Cville, this picture is nor from this year is it? I had some of these pink daffodils one time but they gradually faded away. I just stuck them about in the yard though, no prepared bed and it is clay (mostly) here. Perhaps if I had given them a better place to live???
I usually have crocus (the yellow) starting in December, but not this year. Some bulb foliage is popping up all over the yard, but this AM it is 18 degrees here. :(

Leesburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Found you all.. Cold as heck here. Hopefully will be better tomorrow.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 6b)

Goldie -- I'm longing for those blooms. No, not from this year ... last year's picture. Just a reminder. :)

I think it's around 18-20 degrees here this morning too.

Come Spring I'll have violets all over the back yard. Can't wait. Wishing my life away, I guess. What can you do???

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

Good Morning sistah's. Good to see you all!

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

I think I need to add to my list that I DO like Brach's Chocolate Covered Cherries. I don't really like any other brand but that one. I don't want to say I like 'anything' covered in chocolate because I am not really fond of chocolate covered grasshoppers or any other insect. LOL

Reminder to all the signee's, the like/dislike/want lists of all the participants above and including goldhillal are on the previous thread:

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

I'm here, have spent the last week with my DGD and one of her friends, we had a blast working on headbands for a craft show. I love when the teens get involved and tell me what they are wearing now a days.

Thyroids, hmmm! Had a goiter in 74 that was attached to my thyroid, 2 surguries to remove both, thyroid was cancerous. Both surgeries happened 2 weeks before I was hit head on over Easter weekend. More surgeries to reshape the bones in my face and to wire my jaws shut. All this resulted in getting psoriasis. 38 years now with it. 4 years ago one of the para-throids had to be removed, it was over working itself shuting the others off. It gave me Kidney stones every 6 months for over 10 years. It took them that long to figure out what was causing all of that. The para thyroid was pulling calcium from my bones. Have had 3 back surgeries because of a stupid vacuum. my back has 4 screws in it. Now on top of all this I have the psoratic arthritis which is the worst form of RA. Luckily I have a great RA doctor and the meds she put me on has quieted the RA down and has literally gotten rid of almost all my psoriasis. The cold and damp kill me though no matter what. Today I am enjoing the beautiful weather outside, going to be in the 50's again today and 60's tomorrow and Friday. Then we have a dip down to the 40's over the weekend. The start of next week looks great again, in the 60's.

Forgot to add on my dislikes and such, I hate pink clothing unless it is on little girls and babies. I also love chocolate coffees.

Chocolate covered ants are great, haven't found any grasshoppers to try yet.

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 9a)

Ok, I'm headed to the store to return the chocolate covered grasshoppers. LOL.

My thryoid went untreated for five years thanks to an idiot doctor. I was curious about the thryoid because people I know who had their thyroid treated early seem to have less auto-immune trouble than those who had trouble getting it diagnosed or treated. The tyroid is so important and yet so misdiagnosed.

Ps. the tyroid controls body temp. If it's off you can be super hot or cold. Now that I'm entering menapause, it's alot like that too. My kids think I'm loosing my mind. Freezing and then melting. Boy, being a woman is so awesome.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

That is so true. I get a blood test every year for my thyroid to make sure the meds I take are working right. Guess what, I am at the end of menopause YEAH! and you still get the flashes. DH says he knows I've lost all my marbles. lol

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 9a)

NNNNOOOOOO. I can't stand these flashes. To heck with the twinky defense, I'm going to use the menapause defense. And as for the long do we think they could deal with it? This is the whole reason this swap works for us. We need to keep our feet warm, we need a drink and we must have chocolate.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

I agree with all of the above ........LOL

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

rofl, so true, so true.

Leesburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Ditto and double ditto. If my DH had to deal with the terminal summer of menopause he would shoot himself.

(Linda Kay) Del Rio, TX(Zone 9a)

Hey Neener, I was chatting with Clem in another thread, and she said to tell you hello!

(Crystal) Waverly, AL

My grandmother lived to be 82 and had hot flashes as long as she lived. i give up and think I will be the same. I will be 65 in March and still have them. BUT-- I am alive and healthy, and i usually do not have more than 2/day, usually in the AM before I go out to face the world. A little pain and grief just keeps me reminded to be thankful I am still alive.
Most of my email is filled with ads of various sorts. It keeps me busy unsubscribing, but when you are hooked on free samples, that just happens. What I meant to indicate is that it is a real joy to participate with real people here.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 6b)

LOL ... Goldie, you are a hoot! ♥ I'm 63 and still going strong ... and thankful every day. No flashes ... of brilliance or otherwise.

Well, hello to that Clemen, et al over there. She sent me a brug cutting one time, I think. Have one from Debra too ... and it's gonna bloom this year ^_^

Clarksville, TN(Zone 6b)

Ya, Clem told me to tell Neener and Fruity too HI !!!!!!

We have been running average and above on our daytime temps. Today is going to be a measly 70* and tomorrow 68*. LMBO!!!!! I'm sooooooo excited. It is currently 62*, I have the back door open letting some fresh air into the house! As soon as The Talk is over at 2:00 I am going to go out and plant some lily, tulip and amarylis bulbs. May have to break it up to 2 days, depending on how I feel. 70* in January is a big WooooHoooo!

Hey gals ...... we haven't had any more interest in the swap for a while, so I am going to move the cutoff date up to Tuesday, January 10th @ 8:00 a.m. I will then try to get the swap names out sometime Wednesday, January 11th. Does that sound good to everyone? lol I BET it DOES!

Wave to Clemmie for me, Patti. She's a sweet gal with a great personality.

Moving up the date gives us a few more days to shop and personalize our gifts. I'm all in and don't even play

Leesburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Thanks LK!! I kind of lost track of Clem and I miss her and Arlene. I just can't manage to be on the other site. It's too confusing for me. Tell her my passiflora is huge, but didn't bloom. Don't think it is getting enough sun here.

I'm ready for my name. It will give me an excuse to get out of the mayhem here.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Yeah with moving up the date.

Why is it all the nice days are thru the week? hummmmmmmmm? Guess the odds are in the favor of the week since there are 5 days versus 2..... ok let's work 2 and be off 5....I knew we had this all wrong... rofl.

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

Fruity and Neener ...... here is a link to a thread Clem is on. She is quite the hoot. I just love her!

(Linda Kay) Del Rio, TX(Zone 9a)

Neener, she is not on the other site, just another thread on DG! The one Crit posted. Pop in and say hello!

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

We have to wait till the 11th????? :-( I'm so ready to get out of this post Christmas slump.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Robynznest, have you ever heard of the resort/restaurant "The Old Oar House"? I know you haven't lived there long, but my Mom worked there for years. The resort is at the 81 mile marker if memory serves me right. My Mom's house was up from there on BB highway in Cole Turkey Acres. Most of the people my Mom knew and I knew have all left the area. On the ceiling of the resort there are lots of old oars hanging with peoples names on it. My Mom has one up there and I think I have one there from my sail boat I would take down there sometimes. Sailing on the lake is not great, especially the time I went out and was sailing and they opened the dam down below, the water was flowing so fast I couldn't get back to the house. I pulled to the side and wondered what the heck I was going to do, when my Mom and her boyfriend come up in the speed boat, what a relief. I had as a joke told them if I wasn't back in 3 hours to come after me....good thing cause I would still probably been stuck out in the middle of no where! lol

*posted in old thread accidentally* :)

Hey!!!! Can i sign up?! :)
Not sure if you have my address from the halloween swap, but i will send it to you.

small socks, no socks with toes please my toes have separation anxiety lol

scents, i love candles, any scents, air fresheners, potpurri, wax melts, perfumes, body sprays, whatever.
Love pine, balsalm, bergamot, spice, apple, cinnamon, vanilla, bayberry, linen. Actually it's probably easier to name scents i don't like...musk or heavy perfumes. And watermelon. No watermelon smells like that. I just don't get it.

Sips: No alcohol please. Love coffee and teas. I have way too many mugs but can always use the travel kind, they seem to travel without me... :(

I'm pretty easy to please and i hope to get lots of hints from my partner, but i admit i have already begun shopping!!! :) lol
