Megacopta cribraria-kudzu Bug

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

This is an FYI post, as this bug was first discovered in Georgia in 2009 and is an invasive exotic. At first it was thought to attack only Kudzu...and that wasn't a problem. But it also loves Soy beans, wisteria and Hyacinth bean and is spreading. An article in our local paper yesterday indicated that it had been IDed positively in Vicksburg MS, in addition to S Carolina and most of N Carolina. that is a lot of territory to cover in 3 short years.

Reminds me of Jabba the Hut

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a) is a fat little thing...and voracious from all I have read...they tend to travel in "swarms". I guees we should have know that it wouldn't limit itself to a food source no one wants.
