SOLVED: Succulent with star shape flower

Buena Park, CA(Zone 10a)

I've been unable to identify this plant shown in the first photo showing both a flower and flower bud. I'm assuming it's related to another plant my parents left behind (second photo) that I haven't been able to identify either. Both appear to be similar however the one my folks left behind has both a five sided flower bud and one that is tall.

Thanks for any help identifying these two plants!

Might be Orbea variegata

Edit. I forgot. In the second pic it might actually be a seedpod.

I have never seen on my plant (when I used to have one...)
