February 2nd, 2013: Summer Poinsettia 'Splendens' (Amaranthus tricolor) by David
Thank you much for choosing my picture today GardenGuyKin. I appreciate you liking it!
Your So Welcome... Such an interesting and colorful looking yard. I would love wandering around on a Garden tour there.
I saw this plant once in its full glory. It was truly amazing!!! I have tried to grow it but killed it. Love all your Amaranthus, DavidofDeLand!
...and I would be happy to show you around Gardenguykin as long as was after March and before December! You would not see a stick on Amaranthus in my gardens today and we get a little rough in Winter here in Central Florida too. The picture was unexpected and personally appropriate as my plans were and are to start the Amaranthus seeds today! 6 varieties this year.
Thank you too Kell. I appreciate that...
My question is,..."How does this forum work and what is SITEADMINS?"
I like looking at 'Bug Files' too, and noticed that at the bottom of the page.
SITEADMINS= Site Administrator. Here on the Bloom of the Day we have four Moderator's who hand pick outstanding Photo contributions to the PlantFiles. Congratulations for having one of your photos chosen for 'Bloom of the Day'.
All the better. I appreciate it even more!
It's a great eye-catcher! Love the colors and the plant.
I am happy to hear from you as always Arlene and on a new forum for me. Thank you.
Thank you for the heads up on questions asked GardenGuyKin. Still learning more about DG...
This is a great forum to keep on your watched list, David. Every day it's a new surprise to see the featured flower or plant. I really enjoy it.
I am believing that Arlene.
Beautiful and bright! I grew them one summer and they were a sight to see, almost unreal looking! Thanks for sharing this photo. :-)
Thank you Sue. Things grow so well in California. Get your seeds for this season soon!
Stunning David!!!!!
Christine
You really scored with this one, David, and you, Garden Guy, for selecting it!
Its going to be fun to see what tommorrows 'bloom of the day' brings! Thank you Arlene and Christine...
Stunning!
Well how about that Dave...congrats.
You've started a trend. ☺
Thank all for the nice replies,... and sunkissed your last comment made me smile. Amaranthus will start a trend for itself in everyones gardens who grows it on its own! You will be setting a trend when your neighbors all ask you,..."What is that?!"
On my morning walk today I noticed a neighbor has a plant in the front garden. I'll spike up a conversation next time I see them out front.
