what about after they are done blooming

What do you all do with your poppy beds after they are done blooming? I mean, do you have other things planted that bloom after the poppies?

If you are referring to Oriental Poppies aka Perennials.I leave them until the leaves die back.Thats late July here/I trim the leaves.I have lilies planted behind the orientals.

If you are talking about annuals.I pull them out or let them reseed depending on what look I want.

I agree with GE. I try to set my O/P back from the front whenever possible due to summer dormancy.

I wish I had done that.Mine overhang and the lawn mower sometimes gets a few leaves.I cant move then without creating more plants in the same spot.If you dont get the whole root you what is left behind acts like a cutting and voila more OPs next year.

I plant later blooming things close to the OPs, like lilies next to and grandiflora delphiniums in front. Yarrow is another thing I have close to my OPs.
