Buddleia 'Royal Red' (Butterfly Bush)

Rochester, NY(Zone 6a)

This has grown well and bloomed beautifully in my Zone 6A garden for several years. Started blooming on 7/14 and this year's blooms look tufted like the yellow 'Honeycomb'. Other years the blooms were the usual panicle shape. Weather was rainy for several weeks then hot and humid. Anyone seen this happen or any cause for the change?

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

I can't give much information other than some years I have seen extreme differences in the one I have here , and the few I have tried to grow .
Temperature , I am sure of causes some of the difference..

My 'Royal Red' butterfly bush gradually returned to its usual bloom shape about three weeks after first bloom. Still blooming on Sept. 14 and hummingbirds and butterflies feeding on its nectar before heading south.
