Persicaria bistorta "Superba"

(Zone 4b)

I do love many Persicarias.

I have "Golden Arrows", "Painters Palette", "Dimity".

And just today I came across another; one that I have had difficulty securing i.e. "Superba".

I am hoping that DG members have had experience with this plant and can share.

Jamaica Plain, MA(Zone 6a)

I only have experience with Painter's Palette and Red Dragon. I love Red Dragon for the color-changing patterned leaves. Its small white flowers aren.t much, and it doesn't reseed in a weedy way like Painter's Palette.

Do your floriferous varieties like the same part-shade to shade conditions as Painter's Palette? Looking them up after seeing your post, I see that Digging Dog Nursery has many varieties for sale at a reasonable price, including Superba, but pics of only a few of them.

I have Painters Palette and Red Dragon too.
I could share a cutting of Red Dragon if you would like.

Would you be willing to share "Golden Arrow" and "Dimity' ??

Rouge...seems like I had that one a long time ago in another garden...from what I remember it does spread and mine was more toward the 18-24" range... Might have to try and find this one again for myself... Kathy
