Sago has 3 crowns?

Heath, TX

I have a mature Sago. It put out a male cone for the first time last year. It has had one flush this year, big and full, but now it has 3 different crowns in the middle of the plant. No new fronds coming up yet. Is this normal? Any idea what it is doing?
I live in north Texas and this plant is in the ground. It is well protected each winter - we build a greenhouse enclosure around it.
Thanks for your help!

I would say it is branching. I read these can form multiple crowns for no apparent reason.

It's not unusual for Cycas species to produce multiple 'heads' and branches.

Cool! That looks amazing.
